Malaysia’s first technology and pop-up art experience brings to fore family-centric values with insta-worthy moments
MAH Sing Group Berhad (Mah Sing) has once again reinvented spaces; this time with a 25,000-square-feet Instgrammable PLAYground featuring interactive installations that integrate family-friendly activities.
Visitors of all ages are invited to PLAY, DISCOVER and INVENT at Southville City, Bangi, over the span of eight weekends starting from 9 September until 28 October 2018.
Mah Sing’s Director, Group Strategy and Operations, Rachel Leong shared, “PLAY for kids 10 years ago used to be outdoor adventures, board games, team sports and playgrounds.
However, children nowadays have less contact with the physical world, which creates huge impact on their social skill, health and development. Arts & Lights PLAY is where both adults and children can experience the true free PLAY, as there are no rules, no agenda.
The spaces we created are inspiring, bringing back the joy of pure unadulterated PLAY!” “The interactive activities and photo-worthy installations are anchored by 6 pillars which are creativity, fun, learning, community, relaxation and taste, which will present a whole new experience for visitors from all age group.
These 6 pillars are inspired by what Southville City is able to offer as a self-sustainable township, which is a holistic living experience,” she also said.
Visitors can expect to participate in activities and spaces revolving the six pillars such as a reading corner, ball pit, photography/ videography / makeup workshops, Yoga, Nerf Gun Battleground, Confetti room, Pony ride, Giant Jenga and many more. There are 10 food trucks to satiate the appetite of visitors.
Mah Sing’s Chief Executive Office, Datuk Ho Hon Sang said, “The first edition of the Arts & Lights was held in Mah Sing’s Icon City in Petaling Jaya, last November. Dubbed as Malaysia’s first Instagram museum, the inception of Arts & Lights took inspiration from America’s selfie museums such as the Museum of Ice Cream and Colour Factory.”
Since then, Arts & Lights has made its way across Mah Sing’s projects throughout Malaysia, attracting some 65,000 visitors. This time, Mah Sing is confident that it will attract between 20,000 to 25,000 visitors.
One of the highlights of Arts & Lights PLAY is ‘Party with Hue’ powered by Philips Hue from Signify (previously known as Philips Lighting).
With control at their fingertips, visitors will use Philips Hue to walk through a 12-feet tunnel and experience changing light-moods, from Savanna Sunset to Spring Blossom, to name a few.
This walk then fuses into a musical wall where visitors can experience the multi-colored flexibility and power of Hue in all its glory. Set to delight all ages, this fun and intuitive wireless lighting system can certainly offer shareable Instagram moments and a foretaste of smart home lighting.
Alston Foo, head for Consumer channel for Signify in Malaysia and Singapore said, “We have enjoyed good collaboration with Mah Sing, and we are delighted to be part of Arts & Lights. At ‘Party with Hue’, we’d love to thrill visitors when they mix imagination and lights using Philips Hue.
We hope this can widen public perspectives on smart home lighting and how it can elevate the home ambience and entertainment experience.”
The next highlight is “Pew Pew Pew”, featuring Kuala Lumpur’s first ever glow-in-the dark nerf gun battleground! This physical activity required 2 teams and maximum 3 team mates in a team. It is an exciting 3-minute per game activity for friends and families.
Joining the bandwagon is also a sponsorship from DiGi & Dream Colours. The DiGi PLAYground will serve to reinvent PLAYtime with a tinge of childhood nostalgia. Dream Colours sets up a beautiful swing installation decked floor to ceiling with their coloured bottles. A special drink is customized specially for Arts & Lights PLAY!
Another space one should not have missed is the “Just Keep -Swimming” ball pit, which is kept kid-friendly, sanitized and squeaky clean by Steam & Sanitize. The 2-feet height ball pit filled with pastel colours balls is a perfect photo spot for your Instagram.
