The generosity of donors who contributed to the development of Hospital Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR Hospital) has helped locals gain access to hospital care as well as to boost overall well-being of the society through health awareness and community engagement initiatives organised by UTAR Hospital.
In its bid to give back to society, UTAR Hospital has continually initiated a number of outreach programmes for the community, among them by collaborating with the local schools on its initiative to nurture young minds on the importance of physical, mental and oral health care.
Early exposure and education on health issues and care for personal health will have a profound impact on children’s development and this would ultimately potentially lead to better overall community health in years to come.
“Exposure to stress, poor health and nutrition could hinder children from reaching their full potential and it is our hope that we could help them maintain good overall health and well-being while also developing their mental and physical health to promote their development,” said Prof, Dr Lau Hui Ping, Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of UTAR Hospital.
“Since May 2024, UTAR Hospital has been engaging with school officials to enable its medical specialists to educate the young about health issues and how to manage and care for their health, and this initiative is one of UTAR Hospital’s commitments to the community,” he added.
The Hospital’s Medical Specialists from a number of disciplines such as Paediatrics, Psychology and Dentistry, have been giving various health talks and consultation sessions at local schools including SK Methodist (ACS) Kampar, Pei Yuan High School, 3Q MRC Junior, SMK Methodist ACS Kampar and SJKC Kampar Girls School, and this initiative is continuing.
Aside from schools, UTAR Hospital also conducts various other open community engagement activities at the hospital premises as well as other public and private venues to serve the needs of the people as well as raise health awareness among the society.
UTAR Hospital is a not-for-profit private specialist hospital located in Kampar Perak, with various medical disciplines such as Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, Obstetrics and
