Huawei New P30 Series With World’s First Leica Quad Camera On Smartphone

Leading technology brand HUAWEI announced the launch of the HUAWEI P30 and HUAWEI P30 Pro, featuring a completely redesigned camera to deliver an unrivalled smartphone photography experience.

WHEN the light dims, your photo will still shine. Super Night Mode incorporates groundbreaking technology to allow you to capture previously dark shots and for the first time, video, with amazing clarity.

SuperZoom Lens is an engineering marvel with a 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom. You will never have to elbow your way at festivals and live events again to get the perfect shot or video – think of it as having the convenience of a mini telescope in the palm of your hand.

Dual-View Video can capture two perspectives of the same scene at the same time by using different cameras simultaneously. Being able to record two views of the same scene lets you show an extra perspective never seen before.

New and improved camera advancements including portrait against backlight and pro-bokeh so detailed that even your hair strands will be in focus.

The world’s first Leica Quad Camera system combines new sensors, lens setup, image signal processor (ISP), NPU and custom image processing algorithms. They work seamlessly together to enable sophisticated professional camera features:

The 40MP main camera with a HUAWEI SuperSpectrum Sensor lets more light in so clear
photographs and video content can be captured in the dark 20MP Ultra-Wide Angle Lens lets you capture the big picture from the tallest buildings to the sweeping vistas
8MP 5X SuperZoom Lens will ensure you capture detail like never before.

The HUAWEI Time of Flight (ToF) Camera is designed to measure depth of field allowing
multi-level Bokeh effects, producing portraits with beautifully blurred backgrounds and
sharp subjects in the foreground

The iconic HUAWEI P30 series features brand new gradient colours inspired by the wonders of nature. The four hues; Amber Sunrise, Breathing Crystal, Black and Aurora – each reflect the different times of day. From the sun appearing on the horizon, to the never-ending salt flats reaching towards the sky, to dusk and the awe-inspiring night sky.

The P30 series uses a pioneering process to create extra-thin layers of colour that seamlessly blend into each other whilst also increasing its durability.

The all-new dual curved design, with a curved OLED on the front, and curved glass back creates a thin, sleek and easy to hold design. The notch has been reduced and the earpiece has been removed by using HUAWEI Acoustic Display Technology to use the screen for phone calls instead.

The FullView display cleverly integrates the new and improved fingerprint scanner into the screen, so it doesn’t take up valuable space, providing the HUAWEI P30 Pro with a display size of 6.47 inches.

The P30 Pro takes depth perception even further by incorporating the new HUAWEI ToF Camera to more accurately assess depth and distance with multi-level bokeh and smart correction. The blur from depth of field images is so detailed even the tiniest strand of hair will be in focus.

Precise distance measurement allows for the simulation of multiple levels of bokeh, highlighting the subject in any scenario.

The same lens powers 3D modelling, enabling users to measure the dimensions of objects using HUAWEI AR Measure, opening the door to a whole new retail experience.

Aside from the Dual-View Video capabilities, the P30 series is perfect for the aspiring filmmaker who wants cinematography techniques at their convenience. Capture and create Hollywood films in 21:9 cinematic aspect ratio and edit with the AI Video Editor, featuring a new range of special effects and cinematic filters.

AI Movie Editor automatically identifies action highlights and gives users the tools to add background music and special effects, such as time-lapse and slow motion, to produce engaging video content for sharing with friends and family.

This is one for those who are prone to losing things or just love a convenient life – with the new OneHop interconnection on the P30 series, you will be able to transfer files to a HUAWEI PC through a simple tap. Select models of Audi cars have the option to link your phone to your car key with the Intelligent Digital Car Key.

The P30 Pro features a large 4,200mAh battery that supports faster and more convenient capabilities such as 40W HUAWEI SuperCharge, along with 15W HUAWEI Wireless Quick Charging and Wireless Reverse Charge too, perfect for those who are always on the go.

Slovakia Set To Elect Anti-Graft Lawyer As First Female President

Riding a wave of public fury over corruption, liberal lawyer Zuzana Caputova looks set to win Slovakia’s presidential election on Saturday, bucking a trend that has seen the rise of populist, anti-European Union politicians across the continent.

Corruption and change have been the main themes ahead of the run-off vote, which takes place a year after journalist Jan Kuciak, who investigated high-profile fraud cases, and his fiancee were murdered at their home.

A pro-European political novice looking to become the first woman to be Slovakia’s president, Caputova won the first round of voting two weeks ago with 40.6 percent, ahead of European Union Commissioner Maros Sefcovic with 18.7 percent. Sefcovic is backed by the ruling leftist party Smer, which is the largest party in parliament.

She has campaigned to end what she calls the capture of the state “by people pulling strings from behind”, a message that resonates with younger, educated voters, according to opinion polls.

Five people have been charged with the murders of Kuciak and his fiancee, including businessman Marian Kocner, who was investigated by Kuciak, and who has become a symbol of perceived impunity after more than a decade of rule by Smer. Kocner denies any wrongdoing.

Caputova waged a 14-year fight with a company Kocner represented that wanted to build an illegal landfill in her hometown, a case that she eventually won and that earned her the nickname “Slovakia’s Erin Brockovich”, after the American environmentalist famously portrayed by Julia Roberts in a 2000 film.

‘WILL TO CHANGE’

“Slovakia is waking up, showing great will to change and hope linked to this and the following election,” Caputova said in the last televised debate this week, hinting at the upcoming European Parliament vote and the 2020 general election.

An opinion poll by Median agency, the only survey released between the first and the second round of voting, put support for Caputova at 60.5 percent and Sefcovic, who has campaigned on his experience and personal relationships with foreign leaders, at 39.5 percent.

Critics of Sefcovic said his long diplomatic career would make him an obedient president rather than an independent one, citing his refusal to distance himself from former Prime Minister Robert Fico, who resigned last year amid mass protests sparked by the Kuciak murder.

Courting the anti-system voters whose candidates lost in the first round of the presidential election, Sefcovic has said he rejected the vision of EU “where the distribution of migrants would be decided by someone other than Slovakia”.

The Moscow-educated diplomat supported the government’s opposition to mandatory migrant quotas suggested by the European Commission, where he is a vice-president.

Sefcovic, who joined the Communist Party in what was then Czechoslovakia just months before communism collapsed in November 1989, stressed his Christian roots in the campaign. He called Caputova’s support for abortion rights and LGBT rights “ultra-liberal” in an effort to win socially conservative voters in the country of 5.4 million.

“Caputova’s victory may encourage people set to replace the ruling class in next year’s general election and finish the fight for more justice and fairness in the country,” said political analyst Michal Vasecka. – Reuters

The Rantau by-election was triggered following a Federal Court decision to uphold an earlier ruling by the Election Court to nullify the results for Rantau.

In GE14, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan won the state seat unopposed after Dr Streram was denied entry to submit his nomination papers as he did not have a tag or a pass.

Election Court judge Azimah Omar allowed Dr Streram’s petition for a by-election on the grounds that Mohamad’s election victory was not valid.

The Rantau polls is the seventh by-election post-GE14, and the third to be held in 2019 after Cameron Highlands and Semenyih. — THE STAR ONLINE

Teknologi Potong Kelapa Sawit Guna Dron Laser

– UTUSAN ONLINE

Hamas and Israel: A History Of Violence

By Philip Whiteside, international news reporter

In the last decade or so, Israeli forces have launched a series of major military operations against the Gaza strip.

Most of the strikes have targeted sites the Israelis identify as belonging to figures in Hamas.

Hundreds of Palestinians have died in those conflicts and skirmishes.

A look at Hamas and its history of conflict with Israel.

What is Hamas?

Hamas is the political organisation, led by Ismail Haniya, that administers the Gaza Strip.

Its name is an acronym of an Arabic phrase that translates as Islamic Resistance Movement.

Hamas or its military wing, the Al Qassam brigades, are designated terrorists by at least 10 countries around the world.

Others, however, see it as the legitimate administration in the territory.

At least seven people were injured when Israel carried out airstrikes on Gaza on March 25, a spokesperson for the health ministry in Gaza said.

Why does Israel hate it?

Israel has a long history of enmity with Hamas.

It has gone to war in Gaza three times and has carried out numerous other operations because of its activities.

Israel accuses Hamas of being involved in launching thousands of rockets against Israel and Israeli occupied territory – attacks that have killed and maimed hundreds.

One of the latest resulted in the wounding of six members of a British-Israeli family.

Israel also accuses Hamas of organising protests that threaten its borders. Hamas has called for Palestinians who were forced to become refugees during Israel’s wars to be allowed back to what the group says are their homelands.

Hamas rarely comments on its activities but in December Ismail Haniya praised those who refuse to accept “humiliation” at the hands of Israel.

Image:Jewish rescuers search for victims among rubble in Jerusalem during the 1948 war

What were the beginnings of the conflict?

Hamas, like many groups in the Middle East, remains resentful of the creation of Israel after the Second World War, something promoted largely by Western powers.

In the decades that followed, Israel fought several wars and ended up occupying the West Bank and Gaza – territory the UN had not in 1947 designated it should possess.

Hamas and other Palestinian groups believe that territory was effectively stolen from the rightful owners and occupiers – the Palestinian people.

Image:Israeli soldiers shoot at stone-throwing Palestinian teenagers in Gaza in October 2000

When did they become enemies?

Hamas was formed in 1987 as the first intifada (uprising) got under way.

At the time, many Palestinians were angry at what they felt was provocation by Israeli politicians and repression by the security services, and rebelled violently.

Hamas wasn’t the only group rising up – protesters also came from the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) and other groups.

The first uprising came to an end with the Oslo Accords, which spelled out the framework for Palestinian self-governance in the West Bank and Gaza.

A second intifada followed in 2000, during which Hamas militants were accused of carrying out suicide attacks and bombings against Israeli and foreign civilians. Israeli security forces were also accused of rights abuses.

How did Hamas end up in power in Gaza?

After the Oslo Accords, Hamas boycotted the political process until 2005, when it took part in local and legislative elections.

At the time, the Palestinian Territories were being run by President Mahmoud Abbas, and his Fatah party – which had emerged out of the PLO.

In 2006, Hamas won more seats on the Legislative Council than Fatah, upsetting those previously in power and members of the international community who had hoped to continue working with Fatah.

A battle broke out, killing hundreds, and Hamas seized power in Gaza. Fatah retained control in the West Bank.

The takeover caused Egypt and Israel to close their land borders and begin a blockade. Hamas’s retaliation led to the first Gaza-Israel war in 2008.

Image:Hamas supporters burn an Israeli flag during a demonstration in Gaza in 2009

What does Hamas want?

After its foundation, a charter was drawn up which declares that Palestine was endowed to Muslims by God and requires all Muslims to undertake jihad (holy war) on enemies who “usurp” some Islamic lands.

Effectively, Hamas wanted to bring about the end of Israel and the restitution of Palestine.

Initially, the group flatly rejected a two-state solution – one that involves Israel and the Palestinian people living side by side with mutual recognition.

However, in 2017, it was reported the charter had been reworked, with Hamas accepting that a Palestinian state would fall within borders that existed before Israel’s Six-Day War in 1967.

The group also appeared to remove elements which had been criticised as antisemitic.

Opponents have claimed the changes are cynical moves to appear more acceptable to the international community.

Claims of human rights violations

Hamas has been accused of multiple human rights violations in Gaza, including summary executions, abduction and torture.

During a recent peaceful protest against the high cost of living, which has been making life difficult for ordinary Palestinians, Hamas was accused of waging a brutal crackdown.

It has also allegedly targeted journalists who expose rampant corruption in the tiny country with no political opposition.

Various media and NGOs have provided evidence of Hamas firing their rockets or sheltering in densely populated areas – effectively using the inhabitants as human shields.

The situation in Gaza has also helped destabilise neighbouring countries like Egypt, where militants have taken advantage of the failed state on the border to gain a foothold in Sinai. — SKY NEWS
