Volkswagen And UMP Form Partnership

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in strategic initiatives between the world’s biggest automotive brand and one of Malaysia’s leading technical universities.

THE Agreement was signed by UMP’s Vice Chancellor Professor, Dato’ Sri Dr Daing Nasir Ibrahim and VGM’s Pekan Plant Manager, Danny Auerswald in a ceremony held at UPM’s Pekan campus.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Dean Associate Professor of the
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing (FKMP), Dr. Nik Mohd Zuki Nik Mohamed. VGM and Pekan Volkswagen Head of Pilot Hall, Nor Hayati Othman.

This partnership aims to boost advancement in the fields of education, research and technology, especially in autotronics, and produce a highly-skilled workforce in the country, with a focus on students mainly from electronic and programming streams.

This collaboration will see both parties working closely together as a platform to connect the automotive industry to academic developments and researches.

It will also pave the way for various programmes such as exchange of staff, academic material as well as exploring the possibilities to further advance the technical, engineering and vocational education (TVET).

VGM will be sharing its expertise, resources and knowledge on German engineering and its technologies that are well-known worldwide.

As part of the agreement, Volkswagen Pekan Plant will be offering UMP students internship placements as well as access to the plant to broaden their practical understanding of what is learnt in the classroom. There will also be workshops on new technology and research findings.

VGM’s Danny Auerswald said that a collaboration such as this provides many benefits to both parties. “We are very pleased to partner with UMP and we are looking forward to working closely with the students in recognising their talents and hard work.

Talent cultivation is something that is actively practiced at Volkswagen AG, and it is great that we are able to be working with local students for this. We are confident that the students at UMP will have plenty to learn and benefit from this collaboration“.

In his speech, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr Daing Nasir said UMP was listed in the rating of the QS World University by Subject Ranking 2019 for its Mechanical, Aeronautical, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering and Technology programmes.

These achievements simply highlighted UMP’s excellence in teaching and learning in various technical and technology aspects, he added.

On the MoU, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Daing Nasir said this partnership would help establish a sustainable collaboration with VGM in the areas of vocational automotive engineering. This would help facilite UMP students when seeking industrial training or job placements.

UMP offers world-class engineering programmes, the dual-degree programme and the dual-masters’ degree programme, with Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) and Reutlingen University (RU).

Volkswagen’s Pekan plant currently assembles four models sold in Malaysia – the Polo, Vento, Passat, and Tiguan. These four models make up the line-up of Volkswagen cars available in Malaysia, alongside the Golf family and the Beetle.

AirAsia Kini Terbang Ke Lanzhou Dan Quanzhou, China

AirAsia terus mengembangkan sayapnya ke China dengan dua laluan baharu dari Kuala Lumpur ke Lanzhou dan Quanzhou yang sedia untuk memulakan perkhidmatan esok.

Johor Port Inks Marine Services Agreement With Petronas LNG Ltd

Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, signed a Marine Services Agreement with PETRONAS LNG Ltd (PLL), a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) at Renaissance Hotel, Johor Bahru.

THE signing of the Marine Services Agreement by Johor Port Bhd and PPL enables the provisioning of marine services and attractive tariff for vessels that receive Gassing Up and Cooling Down (GUCD) services at PLL’s Regasification Terminal Pengerang (RGTP).

The GUCD is a specialised service of bringing the storage tanks on liquefied natural gas carrier (LNG) vessels to a natural environment and cooling it down to cryogenic temperature (minus 160 degrees Celcius).

The GUCD process is a requirement for LNG vessels to ensure safe loading of the next LNG cargo.

The collaborative effort between Johor Port and PLL is hoped to encourage more vessel operators and owners to utilise the service at Pengerang terminal, taking advantage of its strategic location and close proximity to ship yards in Malaysia and Singapore.

Johor Port currently provides a range of marine services for all types of vessels including Tug and Pilotage, Berthing and Unberthing, Shifting, Oil Rig Movement / Oil Rig Positioning & Repositioning, Dockwise Offload and Onload, Ship to Ship Transfer, Dead Ship Tow, Anchoring and Lay-Up as well as Docking and Undocking of Very Large Cruise Carriers (VLCC).

“Johor Port has well-trained and experienced pilots to handle all types of vessels, and well equipped with supporting resources like tug boats, mooring boats and mooring gangs that are at par with other developed ports in the region,” said Shahrull Allam Shah Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port.

Johor Port has an existing working relationship with PETRONAS dating back to 2015 in the Material Off Loading Facility (MOLF) project in Teluk Ramunia and Tanjung Setapa.

Johor Port is also currently operating and managing the PETRONAS Solid Product
Terminal (SPT) in Pengerang which includes the provision of operating equipment,
systems and manpower.

The 25-year concession of the SPT operations granted to Johor Port is a clear sign of the Oil and Gas giant’s recognition and confidence in the port’s capability and commitment.

Perjumpaan Mesra Penasihat Islam Dengan 41 NGO Islam

Penasihat Islam Kedutaan Arab Saudi Di Malaysia Sheikh Abdul Rahman M Al Herfi berkata, NGO Islam perlu bersatu untuk memperjuangkan agama Islam yang maha suci dan tunjuklah contoh terbaik kepada masyarakat dalam apa jua yang dilaksanakan.

SHEIKH Abdul Rahman berkata, mereka harus menyelami masyarakat keliling dan hayati apa yang mereka perlu dengan menggunakan kepakaran masing-masing supaya kita dekat dihati mereka.

Beliau juga menekankan semua NGO Islam perlulah menghayati al-Quran dan Sunnah dalam aktiviti dan tunjukkan teladan baik seperti mana diamalkan oleh Rasulullah SAW iaitu sabar, jujur dan ikhlas.

Beliau juga menekan aspek penggunaan teknologi terkini dalam aktiviti seperti Instagram, Whatsapp dan Facebook hendaklah digunakan secara berhemat bertujuan untuk menyebarkan perkara yang baik dan berguna bagi tujuan mendidik.

“Elakkan daripada menggunakan perkara yang boleh memudaratkan diri masyarakat dan agama. Oleh itu, penggunaan teknologi ini amat baik sekarang kerana kemudahan maklumat, kecepatan masa untuk berhubung sesama kita dan penyebaran Ilmu yang berguna untuk masyarakat.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman berkata, ada NGO Malaysia yang bergerak aktif di peringkat antarabangsa dengan kerja-kerja kebajikan termasuk berjaya membina masjid, surau, sekolah agama dan lain-lain aktiviti yang memanfaat kepada masyarakat.

“Malah ada juga berjaya mendapat pengiktirafan cemerlang dari pemimpin negara berkenaan walaupun penduduk Islam adalah minoriti tetapi contoh yang ditunjukkan oleh pemimpin NGO ini membuktikan orang Islam mempunyai perilaku yang baik dan budi bahasa yang tinggi dalam menyampaikan mesej dakwah bersama NGO ikut rentak dan keadaan sesuatu tempat tanpa menjejaskan pegangan kita kepada Agama,” katanya.

Turut hadir NGO Islam dari pelbagai pertubuhan di Malaysia termasuk wakil Pengerusi NGO Antarabangsa, Datuk Mustapha Ahmad Marican serta pegawai-pegawai kedutaan Arab Saudi di Malaysia.

Program Feed And Care Homeless Prihatin Nasib Gelandangan

Program Feed And Care Homeless ini adalah anjuran pelajar semester 6 BBA-UUM, Kolej Teknologi Alpha, Seremban 2 Negeri Sembilan dengan kerjasama Pusat Transit Gelandangan Kuala Lumpur.

SERAMAI 48 orang membantu menjayakan program ini yang bertemakan “One Love of A Million Hope” terdiri daripada ahli kumpulan, rakan-rakan kuliah serta pensyarah.

Objektif program ini ialah untuk meningkatkan kesedaran pelajar dan masyarakat terhadap golongan kurang bernasib baik dan mewujudkan hubungan baik diantara organisasi kerajaan dan bukan kerajaan, dimana pada masa sama meningkatkan nama semester 6 Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Hons), UUM Kolej Teknologi Alpha.

Selain itu, ia bertujuan menyediakan peluang kepada pelajar membentuk jati diri yang baik dan mewujudkan rasa simpati serta empati di kalangan mereka.

Pelajar juga berpeluang berhubung dengan komuniti kurang bernasib baik untuk mengetahui sebab sebenar mereka berkeadaan sedemikian.

Bagi memeriahkan program, pelajar terbabit bukan hanya memberi sumbangan makanan dan pakaian, tetapi turut menyediakan perkhidmatan memotong rambut, slot busking dan, karaoke serta pemeriksaan kesihatan.

Pelajar terbabit turut merakam penghargaan kepada yang membantu menjayakan program ini, terutamanya personaliti televisyen Dayah Bakar yang hadir menyokong dan memeriahkan program, Pengarah Urusan Kolej Teknologi Alpha, Dr Fairol Bin Halim, pensyarah dan penasihat program, Zaiton Talib yang sentiasa menyokong dan memberi tunjuk ajar.

Huawei Spearheads 5G Innovation To Build Fully Connected, Intelligent Malaysia

In conjunction with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC)’s intent to spearhead 5G technology implementation in the country, Huawei Technologies today presented its first ever 5G technology showcase in the country.

ACCORDING to the leading ICT solutions provider, by the year 2025, the world will have 1.3 billion 5G connections, and to support these large numbers of data and users, Huawei is developing simple, powerful, and intelligent networks to continuously create value for its customers.

NZ Wheels And Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Enhance Customer Care

NZ Wheels Sdn Bhd, an authorised dealer for Mercedes-Benz in Malaysia, together with Mercedes-Benz Malaysia recently hosted a Mercedes-Benz Accident Management Insurance Workshop at the NZ Wheels Klang Autohaus.

AIMED to ensure the peace of mind of Mercedes-Benz owners, the Accident Management Insurance Workshop was formulated by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia especially for the Insurer & Adjuster companies, and had an attendance of over 80 participants from the insurance and adjuster fraternity.

The workshop featured an interactive agenda with Information Sharing and Live Demonstration sessions to showcase the latest Mercedes-Benz Pre-Safe and Safety Features as well as the latest Mercedes-Benz body and paint repair process including the techniques, technologies and cost estimation tools.

Andreas Roehl, Senior Accident Management Specialist, Daimler AG flew in from the Mercedes-Benz Headquarters in Germany to conduct a special demonstration on the latest Body & Paint repair process and techniques to the workshop participants.
