Introducing The New Ferrari 488 Pista

Ferrari 488 Pista: a brilliant track-derived combination of exhilaration and performance. First images released ahead of unveiling at Geneva Motor Show

THE new Ferrari 488 Pista, which will be unveiled at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, is the successor to Ferrari’s V8-engined special series  – the 360 Challenge Stradale, 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale – which have received critical acclaim for their performance and undiluted handling.

This model marks a significant step forward from the previous special series in terms of both sporty dynamics and for the level of technological carry-over from racing. The name is, in fact, a direct homage to Ferrari’s unparalleled heritage in motor sports.

The car’s development evolved directly from the company’s involvement in the FIA World Endurance Championship – where it has won five Manufacturers’ titles in the GTE class in the six years since the series’ inception, taking 29 out of 50 races – and 25 years’ experience in running the Ferrari Challenge one-make series.

The 488 Pista’s extensive weight saving solutions, along with engine, vehicle dynamics and aerodynamic developments all derive from Ferrari’s racing cars: the 488 GTE and the 488 Challenge. The result is a car with an uncompromising mission: to offer track-like performance on and off the road, even when in the hands of non-professional drivers.

Compared to the 488 GTB, the new model weighs an impressive 90 kg less (1280 kg dry) which, when combined with the largest ever increase in engine power for a special series car (+50 cv), results in a new benchmark for Ferrari’s V8 sports cars.

Its engine is the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history and is an extreme evolution of the turbo unit that has won the overall International Engine of the Year award titles in both 2016 and 2017.

It punches out 720 cv with the highest specific output of in its class (185 cv/l)  and is now lighter too, thanks to solutions adopted from the 488 Challenge, including Inconel exhaust manifolds and lightweight crankshaft and flywheel, but also thanks to additional features, such as titanium con rods and carbon-fibre intake plenums.

The 488 Challenge also supplies the turbos with integrated rev sensors along with the design of the air intake line which has been moved from the flanks to the rear spoiler area to ensure a cleaner flow of air.

Torque is higher than the 488 GTB at all engine speeds, delivering a feeling of consistently smooth, powerful acceleration with even faster turbo response times despite the increase in power.

The engine sound is unique and unmistakably Ferrari, as such a special car warrants. Both the sound quality and the intensity are higher than the 488 GTB in all gears and at all engine speeds in proportion with the progressive increase in power.

The 488 Pista makes full use of Ferrari’s motor-sports experience for maximum aerodynamic performance even on the road. Among the racing solutions adopted is the front F1-inspired S-Duct and the design of the front diffusers which feature a ramp angle that was optimised for the 488 GTE to create strong suction for increased downforce.

The underbody vortex generators have also been redesigned, and the rear diffuser incorporates the same double kink as the 488 GTE to increase the air extraction and downforce generation compared to a traditional diffuser. In addition, the rear blown spoiler is higher and longer and the shape has been optimised. The final result of all these interventions is an impressive 20% increase in downforce.

The vehicle dynamics were designed to enhance driving pleasure and make the car’s full potential available to all drivers, professional or otherwise. The objective was to make the car’s performance on the limit easier to reach and control.

This was achieved by synergies between the development of the mechanical set-up and the electronic dynamic controls integrated into version 6 of the Side-Slip Angle Control system. SSC 6.0 incorporates all the following systems: E-Diff3, F1-Trac, the magnetorheological suspension (SCM) and, for the first time ever, the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer.

The FDE features a world-first: it uses Ferrari software to adjust the brake pressure at the callipers. This additional level of control further fine-tunes the 488 Pista’s performance through, and powering out of, corners making the car’s handling even more effortless, intuitive and predictable.

The extra confidence the system gives means that drivers can more easily control yaw angles, even on the limit, and develop a completely symbiotic relationship with the car resulting in the perfect combination of genuinely extreme performance and driving thrills.

The suspension set-up is completed by new tyres developed specifically for the car by Michelin.

The design of the 488 Pista is focussed on functional aerodynamic concepts while the cockpit is pared back in keeping with its very sporty vocation. Ferrari Design used innovative elements, such as the aerodynamic S-Duct at the front, as an opportunity to visually shorten the car’s nose, creating an original floating wing effect.

The racing livery colour scheme is an integral part of the design of the car and the way it dives into the S-Duct underscores the berlinetta’s compact yet imposing forms. Contrasting edging on the aerodynamic elements on the bumpers and flanks add structure to the design.

The concept of the front is echoed in the dolphin-tail rear spoiler which appears suspended to provide an impression lightness and efficiency, while the rear volumes add a sense of power to the tail.

The car’s underlying sense of extreme purpose is also highlighted by the adoption for the first time on a Ferrari of optional new 20” carbon-fibre wheel rims, while other carbon-fibre parts include the engine cover, bumpers and rear spoiler.

Hafizh Syahrin Sah Berlumba Dalam MotoGP, Rakyat Malaysia Bangga

Pelumba negara, Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah secara rasmi menyertai pasukan MotoGP Monster Yamaha Tech 3, semalam sekali gus muncul pelumba pertama dari Asia Tenggara bertarung dalam kelas utama itu.

HAFIZH akan bergandingan bersama pelumba Perancis yang juga bekas juara dunia Moto2 dua kali, Johann Zarco.

Beliau akan bertarung dalam musim penuh MotoGP bersama jaguh juara dunia seperti Marc Marquez, Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo dan Dani Pedrosa.

Kemunculan Hafizh bermula selepas pelumba dari Jerman, iaitu Jonas Folger mengumumkan tidak dapat berlumba pada musim ini atas sebab kesihatan menyebabkan pasukan Yamaha Tech3 telah memulakan pencarian pelumba pengganti.

Semasa sesi ujian di Litar Sepang, khidmat Yonny Hernandez digunakan tetapi selepas itu, mula terdapat khabar angin beliau akan diganti oleh Hafizh Syahrin, pelumba negara yang berusia 23 tahun.

Apabila sesi ujian seterusnya di Buriram, Thailand, pasukan yang berpusat di Perancis itu kemudian mengumumkan Hafizh Syahrin telah dipilih untuk sesi ujian di Buriram, Thailand, tetapi pada waktu itu keputusan yang dibuat hanyalah untuk sesi ujian dan bukannya perlumbaan sebenar.

Bagaimanapun, semalam teka-teki ini akhirnya ditamatkan apabila pasukan Monster Yamaha Tech3 mengumumkan secara rasmi khidmat Hafizh Syahrin akan digunakan untuk keseluruhan musim 2018, mengendalikan jentera YZR-M1 dalam perlumbaan kategori premier MotoGP, bersama Johann Zarco.

Sementara itu, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Sepang International Circuit Sdn Bhd (SIC), Datuk Razlan Razali berkata: “Sesi ujian di Buriram sudah menjadi satu sejarah penting bagi Hafizh.

Pengumuman rasmi Hafizh akan bertanding dalam musim penuh dengan pasukan Monster Yamaha Tech3 adalah satu pengumuman dan pencapaian yang besar bagi pelumba Malaysia, selepas menganjurkan MotoGP di Malaysia selama 26 tahun.

Ia juga adalah satu berita hebat untuk benua Asia. Saya mesti berterima kasih kepada Hervé Poncharal untuk peluang, kepercayaan serta keyakinan beliau pada Hafizh.”

Penyanyi Sufian Suhaimi yang putus tunang Ahad lalu mengambil keputusan untuk tidak membuang gambar pertunangannya dengan pelakon Elfira Loy.

SUFIAN, 25, yang popular dengan lagu ‘Terakhir’ menukar keterangan pada gambar itu yang menyifatkan dia tidak pernah menyesal mengenali Elfira.

“Pastinya ini menjadi hari terbaik dalam hidup saya. Saya tidak pernah menyesal mengenali anda, cinta,” dalam coretannya.

Gambar yang dimuat naik pada 7 Oktober tahun lalu iaitu sehari selepas mereka bertunang itu mendapat lebih 77,000 likes dan hampir 1,500 komen.

Dalam masa sama, Sufian juga dilihat masih menyimpan semua gambarnya bersama Elfira di laman Instagram miliknya.

BDB Confident Of Better Financial Year 2018 Results

Financial Year 2017 registers drop in revenue. Group has a cash reserve of RM119.8 million and total assets of RM 802 million

BINA Darulaman Berhad (BDB) today attributed its weaker financial performance for FY2017 to lesser billings and delayed launches, but said in a statement that it was optimistic and confident of better prospects for the coming financial year with a strong cash reserve of
RM 119.8 million and total assets of RM802 million.

BDB Group Managing Director Dato’ Izham Yusoff said: “The drop in Group revenue is mainly
attributed to the property development segment which recorded a fall of 62% compared to FY2016 mainly due to lower progress billings.

The drop in revenue is also a result of continued stringent housing loan application rulings which limited customers’ access to desired funding. This resulted in many customers having to cancel their bookings.

“Many of those who went on to purchase had to make compromises by switching from earlier preferred products priced at more than RM400,000 to more affordably-priced products to facilitate successful funding application.”

For the current financial year, the Group recorded revenue of RM251.7 million compared to RM356.6 million in 2016. The Property Division recorded lower revenue of RM81.4 million compared to RM213 million in 2016.

The decrease in revenue and profitability for the year was mainly due to lower recognition of its on-going medium cost to high-end residential projects at Bandar Darulaman and Darulaman Perdana townships which were at advanced stages of development.

In comparison, the revenue and profit of the previous year was significantly contributed by land disposal. The road and quarry division recorded a 6% lower revenue of RM104.3 million compared to RM111.4 million in the previous year.

It was mainly due to lower contribution from state road and highway maintenance projects. Profit contribution has decreased from RM25.9 million in 2016 to RM14.2 million in 2017 due to higher production costs.

The Construction Division contributed higher revenue of RM55.7 million compared to RM25.6
million in 2016 and higher profit of RM4.2 million compared to RM4 million in 2016. The higher revenue and profit was contributed by SADA water treatment plant and PPR Ayer Hitam projects.

The Leisure Division contributed RM7.7 million to Group revenue compared to RM4.6 million
recorded last year. The increase in revenue was due to higher contribution from golfing activities, hotel, food and beverages and the opening of a new water theme park.

Dato’ Izham added however that the Group is now focused on strategizing for the long term and was confident that earnings are poised to pick up in the next financial year.

He said that notwithstanding the challenging business environment, the Group is confident to ride  through this period given the current land bank (worth RM344.4 million) that would sustain future development and the Group’s stable financial position as reflected by its healthy balance sheets with a strong cash reserve of RM119.8 million, total assets of RM802 million as at 31 Dec 2017 and low gearing of 0.27 times. Total equity stood at RM 515.7 million as at 31 Dec 2017.

Dato’ Izham said that the Group was optimistic that its financial performance would improve in the coming year. “Our optimism for 2018 is driven by the fact that we will have a better balance in supply of more affordably-priced properties to meet demand for the same.

Approximately 75% of products that we plan to roll out in 2018 are priced up to RM400,000, making it easier for customers to have access to their expected loan margins.

“With this better balance, we are confident that we will be able to address the issue of high loan application rejection rate and failure to obtain desired loan margin that resulted in customers having to cancel their intended purchase for higher priced products last year.

The Group’s core businesses are expected to record reasonable performance for the next financial year since the Group has adequate land bank and projects in hand.

• Road and Quarry Division is expected to remain stable based on the current demand for quarry products from Bukit Perak Quarry and Kulim Premix Plant. The division expects steady flow of income from the ongoing road and highway maintenance projects and State Road Maintenance Project
• The Construction Division will be focusing on completing and delivering all ongoing projects
within scheduled time and quality. Projek Perumahan Rakyat Ayer Hitam will continue to support the property division in developing affordable houses during the year. Prospective projects are constantly identified that will enable the division to be a key contributor to the Group.
• The Leisure Division is expected to register improved performance in the near term after the opening of the theme park. Other potential businesses have been identified to cater for a greater contribution to revenue and profits.

Berat Badan Che Ta Naik Dari 50 Kg Kepada 58 Kg

Pelakon jelita, Rozita Che Wan mengakui mengalami pertambahan berat badan sehingga lapan kilogram selepas seminggu pulang dari mengerjakan ibadah umrah baru-baru ini.

ROZITA atau lebih mesra disapa Che Ta berkata, disebabkan itu ramai menyangka dia sedang hamil apatah lagi sejak kebelakangan ini dia kerap mengenakan skirt kembang dan blaus longgar.

“Mana ada saya hamil. Saya sekarang berisi sebab berat naik lapan kilogram. Kalau dulu berat saya 50 kilogram, sekarang jadi 58 kilogram. Sepanjang menunaikan umrah, selera makan saya bertambah kerana penangan nasi Arab.

“Lagi satu, mungkin disebabkan saya pakai baju besar dan longgar membuatkan orang beranggapan saya hamil,” katanya.

Ibu kepada Aaisyah Dhia Rana berkata, dia sekarang sedang berusaha untuk mendapatkan semula berat ideal.

“Kalau nak tahu, semua baju sudah tidak muat. Kain pun susah nak zip. Jadi apa saya lakukan sekarang adalah kurangkan makan.

“Kalau nak bersenam mungkin ambil masa pula, sebab saya banyak kerja lain nak kena buat,” katanya.

Bagaimanapun, Rozita tidak menolak rezeki sekiranya hamil lagi. Namun, dia dan suami, Zain Saidin tidak mempunyai perancangan ke arah itu.

“Buat masa sekarang, belum ada perancangan lagi nak tambah anak. Saya dan suami ingin fokus kepada Aaisyah yang sedang membesar.

“Dalam masa sama, perniagaan diusahakan sedang berkembang jadi saya perlu memberi sepenuh komitmen. Tidak ketinggalan saya ada beberapa projek lain yang perlu diberi keutamaan,” katanya.

ENAM ciri utama untuk keselamatan dan keselesaan pada Honda Sensing ialah Amaran Pelanggaran Hadapan (FCW), Sistem Brek Pengurangan Pelanggaran (CMBS), Amaran Perlepasan Laluan (LDW), Pengurangan Perlepasan Jalan Raya (RDM), Mengikuti Kelajuan Rendah (LSF) dan Sistem Bantu Kekal Laluan (LKAS) kini boleh didapati dalam model generasi ketiga MPV premium berkenaan.

Sistem ini juga diiktiraf sebagai ‘Teknologi Keselamatan Terbaik’ dalam Anugerah Program Pemeriksaan Kenderaan Baru ASEAN (ASEAN-NCAP) Grand Prix 2016.

Naib Presiden Kumpulan Honda Malaysia, Akkbar Danial berkata, Odyssey baru dilengkapi Sistem Kamera Pelbagai Pandangan, Sistem Bantu Parkir dan Maklumat Titik Buta sebagai ciri eksklusif.

“Ia meningkatkan penanda aras keselamatan untuk kenderaan dalam segmen MPV di negara ini yang digunakan untuk membawa penumpang atau ahli keluarga ke sesuatu destinasi,” katanya.

Penampilan model ini lebih mewah dengan bampar hadapan dan gril baru, rekaan lampu LED, rim aloi dua tona 17 inci dan cermin sisi boleh dilipat secara automatik.

Ruang dalaman pula lebih praktikal dengan ruang perehat tangan lebih lebar, tempat duduk penumpang boleh laras empat posisi, kerusi Premium Captain berciri Ottoman serta perehat kepala bagi keselesaan perjalanan jauh.

Platform lantai ultra rendah memudahkan urusan keluar masuk ke kabin selain mengekalkan ciri asas lebih kemas dan moden untuk MPV.

Dipadankan dengan enjin berkuasa 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC, Odyssey turut didatangkan bersama Sistem Earth Dream Technology dan kotak gear transmisi pemboleh ubah berterusan (CVT).

Dua pilihan warna ditawarkan iaitu Platinium Putih Mutiara dan Premium Hitam Mutiara manakala Perak Metalik dikekalkan daripada model sebelumnya.

Honda Odyssey 2.4L EXV dijual pada harga RM254,800 (tanpa insurans) dengan lima tahun waranti tanpa had perbatuan.

“Saya anggap mak El macam mak saya juga. Dia seorang yang baik dan saya hormati dia,” kata penyanyi Sufian Suhaimi, 26, ketika diminta mengulas mengenai kenyataan ibu pelakon Elfira Loy yang mengatakan merek sudah putus tunang.

Sufian berkata, sehingga sekarang hubungannya dengan Elfira masih baik.

“Alhamdulillah, hubungan saya dan El sangat baik. Sampai sekarang. Saya cuba untuk jadi yang terbaik,” katanya.

Menurut Sufian, dia menyerahkan perkara itu kepada kedua ibu bapanya kerana tidak mahu membelakangkan mereka.“Mengenai cincin saya tak setuju. Sebab bukan saya yang cakap. Buat masa ini, biarlah kedua orang tua selesaikan dengan penuh adat.“Saya tak nak membelakangi keluarga, terutama ibu dan ayah,” katanya.

Ditanya mengenai Instagram Stories (IG Story) yang dimuat naik, Sufian yang popular menerusi lagu Terakhir menafikan ia ditujukan kepada mana-mana pihak.

“Walaupun hubungan kami baik, tetapi perkahwinan bukan mengenai dua individu saja.“Ia juga membabitkan dua belah keluarga. IG Story itu hanya luahan hati mengenai situasi saya sekarang,” katanya.

Sufian juga berharap agar tidak ada mana-mana pihak yang membuat spekulasi negatif menenai hubungannya dengan Elfira.

“Saya harap janganlah ada mana-mana pihak buat spekulasi sendiri. Doakan El, saya dan keluarga diberikan kekuatan dan ketenangan,” katanya.

Terdahulu, ibu Elfira, Filzah Yusoff, 52, mengesahkan bakal memulangkan cincin pertunangan kepada keluarga Sufian sekali gus menjawab segala spekulasi mengenai hubungan itu.

Filzah berkata, Elfira yang kini berada di New York, Amerika Syarikat maklum berkenaan keputusan diambil.
