ASUS Announces 2019 Zenbook 13, 14 & 15-The World’s Smallest Laptop Even Smaller Than A4 Paper

ASUS debuted an all-new ZenBook series, with the launch of ZenBook 13 (UX333), ZenBook 14 (UX433) and ZenBook 15 (UX533).

THIS fully redesigned series of premium thin and light laptops introduces the stunning new frameless Nano Edge display, which features ultra slim bezels on all four sides and an unrivaled up to 95% screen-to-body ratio 1 for a near-borderless viewing experience.

The Nano Edge display also allows a much more compact design, with the result that each of the new ZenBook models has the smallest footprint in its class.

The 13-inch and 14-inch models also optionally include the exclusive new Number Pad, an innovative productivity enhancement that provides a full-size LED-illuminated numeric keypad built into the touchpad.

All models feature a special 3D IR camera that allows fast face login using Windows Hello,
even in low-light environments.

The combination of performance and mobility is a defining feature of the ZenBook series, and the new models feature a full complement of high-performance components including the latest 8th Generation Intel ® Core ™ i7 quad-core CPU, up to NVIDIA ® GeForce ® GTX 1050 Max-Q graphics, 16GB RAM, ultrafast PCIE ® SSDs and gigabit-class Wi-Fi.

All models are torture-tested to military-grade (MIL-STD-810G) reliability standards, with demanding tests that include environmental extremes of altitude, temperature and humidity, in addition to extensive drop, shock and vibration testing.

The new ZenBook series ushers in a fresh era of ultra-compact, ultralight laptops that boast the smallest footprints in their class, a feat made possible by the new frameless Nano Edge design.

In 2018, MBM’s performance was spearheaded by the locally produced limousines, which recorded 7,910 units sold. Following closely were the Mercedes-Benz SUVs with 2,613 units sold, particularly by the locally produced Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 and GLC 250.

The German marque expects continued positive demand for this segment. The Mercedes-Benz compact cars recorded a total of 1,875 units sold, while the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars, recorded a total of 662 units sold, a 77% growth for the three-
pointed star’s brand shapers.

The 20 vehicle launches spread throughout 2018 sustained the healthy momentum of demand for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The key launches included the locally-assembled Mercedes-AMG C 43 and GLC 43, Mercedes-AMG E 53 Sedan and Mercedes-AMG E 53 Coupé, its New Dream Cars Collection, the New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Family, and the all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class and new generation C-Class.

In FY2018, the production plant produced 9,854 vehicles, including the newest addition being the Mercedes-Benz S 450 L and the Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC Facelift.

 

On its outlook for the year ahead, Dr Weidner said, “2019 will be another exciting year for Mercedes-Benz with refreshing innovations and new benchmarks to elevate the customer experience. We are excited to share these updates in due time.”

Daimler AG also announced that on a global level Mercedes-Benz sold approximately 2.3 million cars worldwide in 2018, increasing its unit sales by 0.9 per cent, making 2018 the most successful year in terms of sales in the company’s history.

The new sales record in the car division of Daimler AG was driven in particular by the success of Mercedes-Benz in the Asia-Pacific region. Asia-Pacific was identified as the region with the strongest growth in 2018, delivering 943,473 (+7.8%) Mercedes-Benz cars to customers in 2018.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia was one of the few markets in the Asia Pacific region to have delivered more passenger cars than ever before in a single year.

Elmina Community Edible Gardens provide residents with bigger space to grow edible plants while enhancing social interaction

SIME Darby Property launched the Elmina Community Edible Gardens at the City of Elmina, a 5,000-acre themed township development and the first township in Malaysia dedicated to wellness and liveability.

The community edible gardens is a new initiative by the developer with the support of the
community and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), providing residents with the space and
opportunity to grow edible plants, while at the same time nurturing healthy relationships
within the community.

The Elmina Community Edible Gardens has over 100 plots allocated at the Elmina Central Park in Elmina West.

The developer hopes to increase the allotments and will be introducing similar initiatives across other development phases in the City of Elmina in the future, subject to suitability of the area, recognised benefits and response from the residents.

Sime Darby Property aims to establish community edible gardening as a key part of sustainable living for the future. This includes linking the Elmina Community Edible Gardens with an organic waste recycling program, which is planned to be introduced township-wide to the community.

Sime Darby Property will also assist the community to start a gardening club in conjunction with this initiative. The developer aims to coordinate programs and activities with MBSA and other organisations, to provide a range of beneficial programmes to support the community and share knowledge for healthier living.

Buku fakta industri PhAMA tonjol sumbangan terbaru industri farmaseutikal bernilai RM7.5 bilion kepada Malaysia

PERSATUAN Persatuan Farmaseutikal Malaysia (PhAMA) melancarkan Buku Fakta Industri PhAMA edisi 2018 sejak pelancaran edisi pertamanya pada 2012.

Bertemakan ‘Advancing the Health of a Forward Moving Nation’, edisi baru ini menyoroti pelbagai statistik yang dikemaskini serta penemuan-penemuan terbaru, pencapaian dan kejayaan usahasama yang dicapai berkaitan dengan pihak berkepentingan utama dalam polisi penjagaan kesihatan di Malaysia.

Chin Keat Chyuan, Presiden PhAMA berkata, Pertumbuhan industri bergantung kepada usaha semua pihak berkepentingan utama dan mempunyai kesan riak positif terhadap seluruh ekonomi.

“Melalui edisi kedua Buku Fakta Industri PhAMA, kami menonjolkan industri farmaseutikal Malaysia yang berkembang maju yang kini diwakili oleh lebih 445 syarikat farmaseutikal termasuk beberapa syarikat farmaseutikal terbesar di dunia – yang kesemuanya telah sama-sama menyumbang terhadap nilai pasaran sebanyak RM7.5 bilion, setakat suku ketiga 2018,” katanya.

Antara 2013 dan 2016, 10 syarikat anggota PhAMA menawarkan Patient Access Programme (PAP), sebuah amalan global bertujuan meningkatkan akses pesakit terhadap ubat-ubatan inovatif, menerusi kerjasama erat dengan penyedia penjagaan kesihatan awam dan swasta.

Usaha itu telah memberi manfaat kepada kira-kira 12,000 pesakit dengan jumlah sumbangan bernilai RM 99 juta dalam tempoh tiga tahun, memberikan pesakit peluang mendapat rawatan inovatif, terutamanya di institusi-institusi kesihatan awam.

Lain-lain soroton utama berkenaan penemuan baru, trend, statistik dan pencapaian yang disertakan dalam Buku Fakta tersebut termasuk:

Penyakit Berjangkit : Antara 2013 dan 2016, tujuh syarikat anggota PhAMA membawa masuk 13 ejen terapeutik ke Malaysia khususnya untuk rawatan penyakit berjangkit
yang dahulunya dianggap sebagai penyakit baru.

Populasi Penuaan : Jumlah penduduk warga emas dijangka mencapai 2.4 juta pada 2020 dan ini dijangka menyebabkan peralihan ketara dalam jenis penyakit yang didiagnosis dari penyakit akut hingga kronik. Syarikat anggota PhAMA memainkan peranan penting dalam menangani trend kesihatan masa hadapan ini dengan terlibat secara langsung dalam memperkenal dan menyedia akses kepada ubat-ubatan inovatif, memastikan profesional penjagaan kesihatan diberi maklumat terkini berkenaan penyakit-penyakit relevan dan pilihan rawatan yang tersedia, serta mewujudkan kesedaran umum dan pendidikan melalui program pendidikan pengurusan penyakit.

Pendaftaran Ubat-ubatan & Ketersediaan Komersial : Antara 2010 dan 2016, syarikat anggota PhAMA telah mendaftar dan melancar 247 ubat-ubatan inovatif di Malaysia. Di samping 73 produk beretika yang dilancarkan antara 2013 dan 2016, sebanyak 156 lagi produk dalam kategori yang sama dijangka akan dilancarkan antara 2017 dan 2022.

Unit Perkongsian Perkhidmatan (SSU) : Sembilan syarikat anggota PhAMA menawarkan perkhidmatan perkongsian kepada unit perniagaan masing-masing di serantau dan antarabangsa. Penubuhan hab-hab ini di Malaysia adalah pengiktirafan terhadap
kepakaran sumber manusia di negara ini.

Pendidikan Perubatan (CME) : Antara 2013 dan 2016, 14 syarikat anggota PhAMA telah melabur sejumlah RM83.92 juta dalam acara fokus CME, memainkan peranan penting dalam
memaklumkan profesional penjagaan kesihatan mengenai perkembangan terbaru dalam industri penjagaan kesihatan, seperti maklumat penyakit terkini dan pilihan rawatan baru.

Tanggungjawab Sosial Korporat (CSR) : Sebanyak 619 acara CSR telah dianjurkan oleh syarikat anggota PhAMA antara 2013 dan 2016 termasuk aktiviti-aktiviti seperti kempen kesedaran penyakit, program kemasyarakatan, dan aktiviti pendidikan, latihan & pendidikan sosial.

Selain trend dan isu semasa, Buku Fakta Industri tersebut turut membincangkan trend dan cabaran masa hadapan dalam industri penjagaan kesihatan. Gabungan teknologi big data dan artificial intelligence (AI) serta potensi sumbangannya berupaya membawa kemajuan penting kepada industri farmaseutikal.

Menurut Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Menteri Kesihatan Malaysia, & Kerajaan telah menambah peruntukan belanjawan untuk Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) sebanyak 7.8 peratus, atau RM29 bilion, berbanding RM27 bilion pada tahun sebelumnya.

“Peruntukan belanjawan yang lebih banyak untuk KKM ini berpotensi menyumbang kepada peningkatan perbelanjaan untuk Penyelidikan dan Pembangunan (R&D) serta mempertingkat tahap kesihatan rakyat.

“Menekankan kepentingan usahasama pelbagai pihak berkepentingan utama dalam industri penjagaan kesihatan,” katanya sambil menambah, Gabungan perbelanjaan penjagaan kesihatan sektor awam dan swasta yang berjumlah RM51.7 bilion mencerminkan komitmen kerajaan dalam menjaga kesejahteraan negara.

Mewakili suara syarikat-syarikat farmaseutikal besar berasaskan penyelidikan di Malaysia, PhAMA berfungsi sebagai penghubung penting bagi syarikat anggota dengan ahli persatuan dan pihak berkepentingan utama industri penjagaan kesihatan dalam mempromosi, menyokong dan mengukuhkan sistem penyampaian yang lebih baik, seterusnya mengutamakan hasil kesihatan pesakit Malaysia.

Di samping itu, PhAMA juga menggalakkan penyelidikan dan pembangunan produk farmaseutikal di Malaysia secara berterusan, serta menangani pelbagai kebimbangan untuk mempertingkat potensi pertumbuhan industri.

RHB Langkawi Ride 2019 Opens For Registration

The RHB Langkawi Ride 2019, scheduled to take place on 13 April 2019 in Langkawi, Kedah, has opened for registration.

The ride is expected to attract 1,200 local and international cyclists, who will be participating in the 100km Eagle Ride, 75km Heritage Ride and 25km Adventure Ride around the scenic island of Langkawi.

Participants can log on to www.rhblangkawiride.com and register online starting (Monday) 8 January until 8 March 2019.

Special Early Bird rates will be available to encourage early registration. Normal participation fees for 100 km will be RM 150, 75 km is RM 130 and the 25km Adventure ride will be RM 30, whilst the fee for Corporate teams will be RM1,000. The 100km Eagle Ride covers 18 attractions around the island from Eagle Square to the Langkawi Ferry Harbour. This route is divided into a few categories: Men and Women’s Open (for those aged 18 and above), Men’s Veteran Open (for those aged 45 and above) and Corporate Team (men and women aged 18 and above).

The 75km Heritage Ride spans 14 interesting spots that include the Langkawi Lucky Temple, Wildlife Park, Black Sand Beach, the famous Gunung Raya and the legendary Mahsuri tomb, among others.
