Maybank Islamic’s HouzKEY Now Opens To Secondary Market

Effective May 16 2018, Maybank Islamic Berhad’s Rent-to-Own (RTO) scheme, HouzKEY is now opened to the secondary market to cater to customers’ demand for a wider selection of properties under the scheme.

THE bank in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA), has recently briefed 200 real estate agents based in Klang Valley, to provide a first look on the HouzKEY scheme for the secondary market.

Real estate agents can now submit their residential properties for listing on m2own portal (www.maybank2own.com) by emailing their request with relevant documents related to the property to [email protected]

The properties will have to undergo pre-assessment and seller’s consent prior to being listed on the portal. The implementation of HouzKEY to the secondary market will be rolled-out in phases, with the first phase being focused on selected areas within Klang Valley.

HouzKEY, which was launched to the primary market on January 15 2018, is the country’s first bank-initiated RTO scheme, which enables customers to kick start their home ownership journey with no down payment and only 3 months rental deposits.

It is the first such RTO product in the country and is fully enabled on a digital platform. Once the customer chooses a property on the online portal and applies under HouzKEY, the Bank will provide a decision within 1 working day, following which the customer must make the 3-months rental deposit and sign the lease agreement within 14 days.

After the lease agreement is signed, the Bank will purchase the property from the seller and the property price is locked in for the Customers to enjoy full capital appreciation on the property price anytime.

The briefing was also attended by Maybank Islamic CEO Dato’ Rafique Merican and MIEA Secretary General Ms Chan Ai Cheng.

Dato’ Rafique said real estate agents play an integral role in the real estate industry as they are the front-liners facing the properties’ buyers and sellers.

“As the RTO concept is relatively new in Malaysia, this briefing session is important to not just create more market awareness but to allow for a deeper understanding of the concept among agents to promote the product’s unique propositions,” he said.

HouzKEY is targeted to aid first home buyers and upgraders to own a home with no down payment required as the Bank will play a role in purchasing the property from the seller.

Through the HouzKEY portal, the bank further facilitates linkingt hese group of customers with pre-screened property agents and properties in the market to better match the demand and supply.

Dato’ Rafique added that HouzKEY promotes financial inclusion by offering an alternative path to home ownership, and opening it up to the secondary market will allow the public a wider selection of properties to choose from.

According to the National Property Information Centre Residential Property Stock Report, as at the last quarter of 2017, the secondary market supply accounts for more than 90% of all stock within Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

MIEA in a statement said it welcomed Maybank Islamic’s plans to extend HouzKEY to include residential properties in the secondary market.

It said with HouzKEY’s innovative propositions, real estate agents are offered more opportunities in the market place to close a sale as the eligibility for financing is assessed immediately for the interested buyers.

Since the launch to the primary market, there has been almost 1 million page views on the m2own portal.Close to 45% per cent of them are from the target age group of between 25 and 34 years old that show interest on the product.

Currently, the public can browse through by more than 20 developers which includes amongst others, EcoWorld Development Group Berhad, SP Setia Berhad, Sime Darby Property Berhad, UEM Sunrise Berhad, Gamuda Land Sdn. Bhd., I-Berhad, and Mitraland Group.

New Prices Of Volkswagen Cars With Zero GST

In line with the newly-revised GST rate of zero percent by the Malaysian Government, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) announced the updated prices of its model range, effective 1st of June 2018.

Honda Malaysia Absorb 6 Percent GST For Selected Models

From 18 May till 31 May 2018, Honda Malaysia to absorb the 6% GST for purchase of selected Honda models.

HONDA Malaysia Sdn Bhd announced that in conjunction with the announcement by the Government of Malaysia that Goods and Services Tax (GST), currently set at 6%, will be zero-rated effective 1 June 2018, Honda Malaysia is taking the initiative to support its customers who plan to purchase their vehicles before the Hari Raya celebrations via its GST Bonus.

Under this GST Bonus, customers who purchase selected Honda models during the period of 18 May 2018 to 31 May 2018*, Honda Malaysia will absorb the 6% GST and customers will also be entitled to the on-going “Welcome Ramadhan Rewards”** Honda bonus.

Honda models entitled for the GST Bonus are City (Petrol Variants), Civic, CR-V and HR-V.

Other Honda models namely Jazz, BR-V, Accord, Odyssey, Civic Type R, Jazz Hybrid and City Hybrid are not entitled to the GST Bonus but only entitled to the on-going “Welcome Ramadhan Rewards”** Honda bonus.

Perodua to fully reimburse GST in cash for sales, service & parts between 18 and 31 May

PERODUA will fully reimburse the Goods and Services Tax (GST) to customers who purchase a new Perodua vehicle, service their Perodua vehicle or buy parts between 18 and 31 May 2018, ahead of the zero-rated GST implementation on 1 June 2018.

“Perodua will fully reimburse our valued customers the GST amount in cash upon registration or servicing of their vehicles as well as parts purchased,” Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd Managing Director, Dato’ Dr Zahari Husin said.

“This GST rebate initiative represents our commitment to customers to always place them first in everything we do. Please visit any of our 179 authorised sales outlets nationwide to learn more.

“On behalf of Perodua, I wish to extend our gratitude to all our customers for your continuous support over the years,” said Dato’ Dr Zahari.

Dato’ Zahari said that this GST rebate is Perodua’s own initiative and that he hopes customers would take advantage of this at both its sales and service outlets.

“For our customers who have made transactions at any of our service centres today (18 May 2018), we will reimburse you in the form of e-vouchers, which is valid on 1 June 2018 onwards.

“Starting from 19 May 2018, our customers will receive an instant 6% cash rebate for vehicles serviced,” he added.

The GST rebate amounts are based on the vehicles’ nett selling price without GearUp accessories, insurance and other selling expenses.

 LG Electronics’ (LG) Introduces Latest Premium Smartphone, LG G7 ThinQ,

LG Electronics’ (LG) latest premium smartphone, the LG G7 ThinQ, is receiving highly favorable reviews. The upgraded core features including Audio, Battery, Camera and Display, as well as its AI features have been the focus of attention for international media.

PHONE Arena praised the camera of the LG G7 ThinQ, “The LG G7 ThinQ is treated to a pair of 16MP sensors broken down to a main 71-degree f/1.6 lens and a wide-angle 107-degree f/1.9 one. … The LG G7 ThinQ is just a beast of a camera phone because it now has the ability to capture portrait shots with its front and rear cameras.”

Engadget also ran a positive review on LG’s signature Wide Angle Lens on the LG G7 ThinQ, saying that, “I can see how the wider lens would be very useful for capturing photos of more grandiose scenes like the Grand Canyon.”

Digital Trends focused on the Super Bright Display of the LG G7 ThinQ and said, “While we found the G6 had a stunning display — filled with color, warmth, and detail — it can’t match the LG G7 ThinQ.” Forbes also wrote that, “LG gives users the option to bump brightness up even more: up to a jaw-dropping 1,000 nits…(that is) undeniably useful when using the phone in direct, heavy sunlight.”

As for the audio of the LG G7 ThinQ, Digital Trends praised the Boombox Speaker, which utilizes the internal space of the phone as a resonance chamber to deliver more powerful base, saying that, “Music lovers will also appreciate the Boombox Speaker on the LG G7 ThinQ.”

Regarding the design of the LG G7 ThinQ, it was praised for its sleek sophistication and being comfortable to be used in one hand despite being equipped with the new 6.1-inch QHD+ FullVsion display.

Engadget said, “The G7’s sides and back are subtly curved around the edges for a smooth and comfortable feel in the hand, and the display on the front curves slightly into the metal frame for a softer overall look.” Engadget also noted that it “Absolutely fell in love with the bright rosy pink hue” of the LG G7 ThinQ in Raspberry Rose.

PhoneArena wrote, “While the G6 last year introduced us to a more modern design with its glass meets metal construction… the LG G7 ThinQ is a remarkably more refined looking smartphone in every facet.” Android Headlines emphasized that the LG G7 ThinQ is one of best smartphone launched in May 2018, and told its readers, “If you are after a new smartphone this month… the LG G7 ThinQ is definitely worth considering and holding out for.”

Fujifilm Malaysia Launch Instax SQUARE SQ6 (SQ6)

Taylor Swift as global partner to promote instax products worldwide

FUJIFILM Malaysia has launched the instax SQUARE SQ6 (SQ6), the first analog instax camera in Fujifilm’s wide range of instant cameras to meet the growing demand for square format films especially among the younger generation.

Designed to be users’ stylish companion for every occasion, the SQ6 has various shooting functions with simple trendy design that aims to bring stunning and artistic photos to life, on the spot, wherever and whenever.

The launch also revealed that Malaysia is the only country to launch the new SQ6 simultaneously with Japan.

The overwhelming response to the launch of Fujifilm’s square format film, “instax SQUARE Film” and the hybrid instant camera SQ10 with corresponding image processing and editing functions, last year, prompted the expansion of the Company’s instant camera lineup which resulted in the introduction of the all new SQ6.

The SQ6 has a variety of functions that can be used in any situation. The camera has an automatic exposure adjustment function that is activated when the shutter button is pressed. It detects the ambient brightness and adjusts to provide the optimum shutter speed and flash light intensity. Even in a dark room, subjects and the background can be shot vividly and clearly.

Meanwhile, selfie lovers can simply set the camera to selfie-mode and the settings will be adjusted to the optimum focus and brightness. There is also a self-shot mirror attached to the side of the lens allowing users to check the shooting range. Tripod holes in the bottom of the main unit and a timer can be also useful for group photos.

Furthermore, the camera has three modes to cover every situation, namely the “Double Exposure Mode” which allows two photos to be overlapped on a single film when the shutter button is pressed twice, the “Macro Mode” that can take short-range photos up to a minimum of 30cm, and the “Landscape Mode” which can be used to take long-range landscape photos.

The New Renault Captur Now More Sportier

Europe’s best-selling crossover, the Renault Captur, gains even more allure with new striking colours, as well as upgraded designs and refinements, inside and out with local assembly and its EEV-certification, pricing for the new Captur remains at RM109,000

THE new Renault Captur carries over an extensive kit of equipment and all the features that helped forge the model’s global success 5-in-Captur brand promise continues to give customers peace-of-mind and confidence.

Euro Cars (TCEC), the sole franchise holder of Renault vehicles in Malaysia, launched the new Captur, Europe’s best-selling crossover, which features a sportier, more assertive exterior with new bi-toned colours and an interior further refined for enhanced quality.

The new Renault Captur builds on the model’s original success, including its striking two-
toned finish. In addition to the popular Flame Red (body) / Diamond Black (roof) colour
option, the new Captur is now available in three new body colours: Atacama Orange, Ocean
Blue and Pearl White body colours, all paired with a Diamond Black roof.

Pricing for the new Renault Captur remains at RM109,000 (on-the-road inclusive of GST,
without insurance, for Peninsular Malaysia and private registration), with an additional RM900 (excluding GST) for the Flame Red and Pearl White colour options, which includes kicking plates and a trunk tray.

Locally assembled at the Tan Chong Group plant at Segambut, the new Captur is EEV certified and offers excellent fuel efficiency. Powered by Renault’s turbocharged TCe 120 engine, the new Captur continues to deliver the performance and acceleration of a normally-aspirated 1.8L engine.

Mated to a six-speed Efficient Dual Clutch (EDC) transmission, the spirited crossover is capable of delivering maximum power of 120 PS at 4,900 rpm and peak torque of 190 Nm from as low as 2,000 rpm while maintaining exceptional fuel efficiency of up to 5.4L/100km.

The refreshed Renault Captur also retains its extensive kit of equipment and features while
delivering on excellent driving dynamics, from road holding and agile handling to engine
response and driver aids that have helped Captur become the global success that it is.

The Captur is one of Renault’s most in-demand models with 940,000 units sold globally to-
date

It has also been the top-selling model in its segment in Europe, a testament of Renault’s 120 years of know how in design, production, engineering and technical expertise.

A bolder, more assertive look

Starting at the front, the new Renault Captur now incorporates the brand’s signature C-
shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) while the grille has been redesigned to more
closely resemble that of Renault’s other crossovers, notably its bigger sibling, the Kadjar.

The upgraded Captur also sports a new 17-inch alloy wheel design and LED wing mirror
indicators.

More refined interior appointments, user-friendly and connected

Designers not only refreshed the external appearance of the new Captur to be in line with
more modern models in the range like the Koleos, they also paid close attention to enhancing the quality and finish of the cabin.

More refined than before, the interior benefits from the use of high-quality plastics, and a
foam-backed dashboard. The black combi-leather seats, combi-leather door finishers,
redesigned gear lever and door panels offer a more modern and sophisticated cabin.

The new Renault Captur carries over the extensive equipment and specifications that helped forge the model’s reputation as a versatile and user-friendly vehicle. Cabin space and seat configuration can also be adapted to meet various capacity needs with a sliding rear bench seat that is foldable 60:40, which also provides ample boot space from 377 litres to a maximum of 1,235 litres.

The new Renault Captur is fully connected through the MediaNav multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen, AUX, USB, Bluetooth and navigation.
