HeiTech Padu Berhad Targets Stronger Earnings Growth

HeiTech Padu Berhad (HeiTech) has successfully navigated its way back to profitability on the back of an improved performance for the financial year ending December 31, 2023 (FY2023).

The Group reported RM7.2 million in profits for FY2023 to Bursa Malaysia compared to the RM10 million losses recorded in 2022. HeiTech’s earnings before interest, impairment, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBIITDA) for FY2023 was RM28.2 million.

The RM17.2 million turnaround from 2022 is attributed to improved profit margins due to
cost management measures and the Group’s success in securing new contracts in both
the public and private sectors amid greater competition and economic uncertainty in the
country.

The contracts include those awarded by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Ministry of Health, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia and an extension of an Immigration Department of Malaysia contract.

“Our recent success demonstrates HeiTech’s commitment to providing value-added solutions and services to our customers, targeting stronger earning growths,” said Salmi
Nadia Mohd Hilmey, Group Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer.

“For the past 30 years, HeiTech’s strong credentials and track record in developing and managing technological solutions and mission-critical projects for customers in the public
and private sector, has seen us grow from strength to strength. HeiTech is always focused
on delivering value to our customers. Our track record over the years speaks for itself,”
said Salmi Nadia.

“We believe our ability to consistently deliver is a key reason for HeiTech’s success in
securing high-profile government contracts based on merit across different government
administrations.”

Since its establishment, HeiTech has distinguished itself as a prominent player in the nation’s IT industry and has been instrumental in driving technological transformation and
advancement of governmental, financial institutions and commercial organisations that
are powering Malaysia. This has been achieved through strategic collaborations and
partnerships with the fellow IT players in the industry.

“HeiTech has evolved from being a system integrator and managed infrastructure provider to being a provider of digital and emerging products. HeiTech has expanded our offerings and market areas via creation of in-house products and offerings that fit transactional-base and mass market which includes smart parking systems, e-know your customers (e-KYC), payment gateways as well as smart applications for local councils, cooperatives, school management solutions and teaching portals,” said Salmi Nadia.

“HeiTech has also expanded our customer base beyond Malaysia which includes regional
presence through strategic acquisitions and the establishment of new companies”. In 2020, the Group successfully launched a financial system for cooperatives, a school administration system, and a mobile app for teachers and students in Indonesia via our
investee company PT DesaTech Nusantara as part of HeiTech’s regional expansion
initiative.

Moving forward, HeiTech plans to become a full Digital Technology Service Provider
leveraging on emerging technologies, broaden its operational capabilities, expand
customer base, diversify its business, and propel HeiTech into a better financial position

Samsung 2023 TV Awareness Survey: Big Screen TVs the New Norm in Southeast Asia and Oceania

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today released findings from its annual TV Awareness Study, which reveals that TVs are now the entertainment hub of the home, driven by the increasing popularity of big screen TVs fast becoming the new normal, with quality and product specifications topping the list as the most important factors influencing TV
purchases.

The study was conducted as part of Samsung’s efforts to better understand consumers in the region and their needs pertaining to TV Screen technologies. Over 1,920 consumers aged 25 to 64 across eight markets in the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region were surveyed in the third quarter of 2023.

Yohan Zondak, Head of Visual Display for Samsung Southeast Asia & Oceania, said, “As we look towards the future of entertainment in the home, the findings from our latest annual TV Awareness Study reaffirms our views that consumers are passionate about the content that they want to view, and importantly, ensuring that they have a high-quality and premium viewing experience.

Big Screen TVs are the New Normal

Across the region, while consumers were generally satisfied with their TVs, large screens were more popular than ever with consumers, with 30% of consumers owning TVs of 53” sizes and above.

In particular, big screen sizes such as 98” are becoming the new norm, as survey results show purchases of even larger TVs of 60” and above has grown more than 10% as compared to the previous year.

At the same time, a whopping 55% of consumers surveyed indicated their intent to purchase bigger TVs 2 in the future as compared to their current ones. Product specifications such as sound quality and smart features played key roles in driving big screen TV purchases such as those from the Neo QLED 8K range.

This shows that while consumers are not shying away from purchasing larger TVs as the centerpiece of their living rooms, screen sizes alone are not the sole driving factor in purchase decisions.

TVs are the Entertainment Hub of the Home

Across the SEAO region, 87% of consumers are proud owners of a Smart TV, with growth in smart TV ownership observed from the year before. It is no surprise that TVs are primarily being used as the main tool for consumers to enjoy a cinematic experience of their favorite content, powered by the latest features.

The study found that consumers in Malaysia find most value in new TVs that allow them to enjoy high quality content (78%), support all of the latest technology and features (75%), and provide them with the most cinematic and immersive experiences possible (79%).

Beliau mengakui terdapat penipuan dalam proses pengambilan pekerja asing di Negara Sumber yang sering mengakibatkan pekerja asing terbiar tanpa pekerjaan atau tempat berteduh sebaik tiba di negara ini.

“Misi kami apabila melaksanakan sistem ini,  antaranya adalah menjadi kewajipan kita untuk sama-sama menjaga kebajikan dan hak asasi pekerja asing; ia melangkaui transaksi semata-mata,” katanya lagi.

FWCMS merangkumi beberapa ciri penting yang bertujuan untuk menyelaraskan pengambilan dan pengurusan pekerja asing secara digital.

Sistem ini memastikan majikan memohon dan mendapatkan kelulusan Kerajaan untuk permohonan kuota secara dalam talian, menjadikan proses lebih efisien, tepat dan lebih telus. Selain itu, ia memastikan kontrak pekerjaan antara pekerja dan majikan dikeluarkan, difahami, ditandatangani dan disimpan dengan selamat semuanya secara digital.

FWCMS juga menyediakan fungsi berkesan untuk pengesahan oleh pihak berkuasa yang berkaitan, termasuk kedutaan dari negara asal pekerja asing dan agensi kerajaan Malaysia.

Kebolehcapaian ini membantu dalam mengekalkan pematuhan peraturan. Ismail menekankan kepentingan ketelusan dalam proses pengambilan pekerja asing.

“Dengan segala-galanya yang didokumenkan secara digital dan boleh diakses, kita dapat melindungi pekerja asing dengan lebih baik daripada tawaran kerja palsu dan situasi eksploitatif lain,” katanya.

Selain itu, FWCMS dilaksanakan selaras dengan peraturan Kerajaan dan standard antarabangsa, menjamin bahawa semua amalan pengambilan pekerja asing memenuhi piawaian undang-undang dan etika.

Sistem ini juga menyediakan saluran yang selamat untuk semua pekerja melaporkan sebarang kejadian penganiayaan atau penderaan,  sekali gus melindungi keselamatan mereka sambil memudahkan akses kepada sokongan yang diperlukan.

Tambahan lagi, modul penting seperti eWages dapat memantau pembayaran gaji secara automatik bagi memastikan pekerja menerima gaji yang sepatutnya dan menyediakan mekanisme untuk memaklumkan pihak berkuasa tentang percanggahan atau kegagalan pembayaran gaji oleh majikan.
