New White Orchid Pearl Colour Now Available For All Honda Models

New White Orchid Pearl colour now available for Jazz & City, and available for BR-V & HR-V in 3rd week of February 2018

HONDA Malaysia announced that the new premium colour, White Orchid Pearl will replace the Taffeta White colour for Jazz, City, *BR-V and *HR-V.

Honda Malaysia first introduced the White Orchid Pearl colour in Civic CKD model and then followed by Accord in 2016. Since its introduction for both models, the new colour has received positive response from customers and to date the new premium colour contributed 38% for Civic and 33% for Accord of its respective overall sales.

Following the increasing demand of White Orchid Pearl colour, the CR-V was then introduced with the new premium colour last year and has attained 26% of overall CR-V sales up to date.

In our efforts to provide the joy of owning a Honda to our customers, we continuously seek feedback from Honda customers on what they look for. Based on internal survey we conducted, results showed that the White Orchid Pearl colour received huge popularity.

Therefore, the introduction of the White Orchid Pear colour is now made available for the entire Honda Malaysia line-up as a result of the customers’ feedback.

Honda Malaysia Retains No 1 Spot For Three Years

Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd has continued to retain its No. 1 position for Non-National segment for three consecutive years and strongly maintain No. 2 position in overall TIV for two consecutive years from 2016 to 2017.

THE Company also announced that all of its CKD models ended 2017 by taking the lead in their respective segment.

In 2017, the Company recorded total sales of 109,511 units, setting an all-time high record in the history of Honda Malaysia since it was established in 2003. This is also the first time that Honda Malaysia achieved sales of more than 100,000 units and also the highest that a Non-National brand has ever achieved in Malaysia. Since 2003 and in the span of 14 years, Honda Malaysia has sold more than 730,000 units of vehicles, bringing the Joy of Driving to Malaysia.

Despite the challenges in the market last year, Honda Malaysia recorded highest sales with 11,221 units sold in December. The overall sales for 2017 increased by 19% compared to the 91,830 units recorded in 2016. The Company managed to capture 19% market share, the highest ever achieved in Honda Malaysia history, and an increase of 3.2 points from 2016.

In 2017, Honda Malaysia launched 6 new models. The 2017 models introduced are BR-V, City, Jazz and Jazz Hybrid, City Hybrid, CR-V and All-New Civic Type R. The City emerged as Honda’s best-selling model in 2017, contributing 27% of total sales, followed by HR-V at 17%, BR-V at 16% and Civic at 14% respectively. In the Hybrid segment, the Jazz Hybrid and City Hybrid contributed 2% to the total sales of Honda Malaysia despite being on sale for only 4 months and the two models are leading the overall Hybrid segment.

Throughout 2017, Honda Malaysia expanded its presence and penetration in East Malaysia, which contributed more than 7,500 units to the total sales achieved. Sales for East Malaysia in 2017 increased by 33% compared to 2016. BR-V was the best-selling model in East Malaysia.

Besides increasing sales and customer base, Honda Malaysia is also mindful of the importance of its after sales service. Last year, the Company introduced Honda Pride with the aim to create awareness amongst Honda customers on the benefits of after sales services and to increase customer satisfaction. With 12 specially designed benefits such as 5 years warranty with unlimited mileage, genuine parts and comfortable dealer showroom, Honda Pride is dedicated to the customer’s experience of top quality services in after sales from the moment they step into the dealership.

The Company increased the number of dealerships in 2017 to cater to the expanded customer base and to continue providing excellent after sales services. In terms of service intake, Honda Malaysia recorded more than 1,150,000 vehicles serviced in 2017, up 13% from the approximately 1,021,000 vehicles serviced in 2016.

The Sport Hybrid i-DCD made history during their introductions as Malaysia is the only country outside of Japan to introduce the technology.

It was also the most affordable Hybrid to be introduced in the market. Honda was also the first brand to introduce the SENSING technology into mass models such as the CR-V and New Accord. Ultimately, we strive to bring the joy of ownership to all our customers,” concluded Ishiyama.

Land Rover Defender Works V8 Limited Edition

Land Rover UK announces a limited-edition high-performance version of the iconic Defender, with up to 150 V8-powered examples re-engineered to celebrate the Land Rover marque’s 70th anniversary in 2018.

THE Defender Works V8 pays homage to the early high-powered engines in both the Series III Stage 1 V8 from 1979 and subsequent Defenders including the 50th Anniversary Edition, which are highly sought after by enthusiasts and collectors today.

Defender Works V8 is the most powerful and fastest version that Land Rover has ever created. The 5.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol V8 powertrain produces 405PS and 515 Nm of torque (the standard Defender delivered 122PS and 360 Nm). The Defender Works V8 will accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.6sec*, while top speed is increased to 106mph.

Tim Hannig, Jaguar Land Rover Classic Director, said: “It’s fitting that we’ve been able to release the full potential of the iconic Defender, whose much-loved shape remains synonymous with Land Rover, 70 years since it was seen in public for the first time.

“The idea of reintroducing a V8 Defender was something we were discussing as far back as 2014, when we were still building the Defender in Solihull. We knew the demand was there for a powerful and fast Defender; the Land Rover authenticity is the ultimate finishing touch for discerning clients purchasing these collector’s edition Defenders.”

The V8 powertrain will be fitted to 150 specially-selected and re-engineered Defenders for the 70th Edition, complemented by an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with sport mode, uprated brakes and handling kit (springs, dampers and anti-roll bars), plus exclusive 18-inch diamond-turned Sawtooth alloy wheels and 265/65 R18 all-terrain tyres.

Eight standard body colours include two satin finishes – contrasting with a Santorini Black roof, wheel arches and front grille – finished with machined aluminium door handles, fuel filler cap and Defender bonnet lettering. A comprehensive lighting upgrade includes bi-LED headlamps.

Land Rover intends to continue the Defender lineage and will use its technology, pioneering engineering capability and design expertise to ensure the longevity of the Defender name.

Malaysia’s Commemorative Edition of the Defender

In commemorating the anniversary celebration of the iconic Defender, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia has released the last lot of Double Cab Defenders in limited commemorative special colours.

The last 12 units of Defenders in Malaysia spots contrasting black roof and rims for the Sicilian Yellow and Montalcino Red whilst contrasting silver roof and rims are paired with the Baltic Blue double cabs. Coloured stitching for the leather gear knob, steering wheel and seats are matched to the exterior paint. The headlining of the commemorative edition defenders in Malaysia have also been upgraded to provide a luxurious feel to the overall cabin.

The commemorative edition is retailed at RM198,800 (inclusive of GST but excludes road tax, insurance and registration). It is powered by a 2.2l Diesel engine and paired with a 6-Speed manual transmission.

MARKET AVAILABILITY

Defender Works V8 is available in the United Kingdom, and MENA markets on a personal import basis. European market availability is also on an individual import basis, subject to rules on importation of vehicle conversions.

V8 DEFENDER HISTORY

V8 powertrains in the Land Rover Defender and its production predecessors started with the Series III Stage 1 V8 of 1979. The carburetted 3.5-litre Rover V8 produced 90bhp.

  • The Land Rover One Ten from 1983, and Ninety from 1984, used the same 3.5-litre Rover V8 engine as the Series III Stage 1 V8, but in 113bhp form, uprated to 135bhp from 1987.
  • For North American Specification (NAS) Defender 90s and 110s only, from 1992, a 182bhp fuel-injected 3.9-litre version of the Rover V8 was fitted, along with a four-speed automatic transmission.
  • In 1998, the fuel-injected 190bhp 4.0-litre V8 from the second-generation Range Rover was fitted to a limited run of 50th Anniversary Defender 90s, with a four-speed automatic transmission.
  • 0-litre naturally-aspirated 2018 Defender Works V8 is the first official V8-powered Land Rover Defender to be introduced since 1998.

Mah Sing Planned To Launch Residential Projects Priced Below RM500,000

Mah Sing Achieves RM1.8 billion sales in 2017, targets similar success in 2018 with minimum RM1.8 billion sales by launching more affordably priced homes in strategic locations. 

MAH Sing Group (Mah Sing) announced that it achieved RM1.8 billion sales for year 2017 during a media briefing at Invest Malaysia 2018 (IMKL) in Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur.  The Group targets similar success in 2018 with a minimum of RM1.8 billion sales target by launching more well-planned mass market residential projects priced below RM500,000 with good concepts in strategic locations.

Mah Sing launched the Reinvent Affordability campaign in 2H2017 which focuses on developing quality homes in strategic locations at an affordable price. The Group looks into reinventing innovative layouts, providing quality and generous facilities with high security as well as central location surrounded by amenities and convenience.

Mah Sing’s Group Managing Director, Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum shared, “StarProperty.com’s survey showed that pricing and location remains as top influencing factors when it comes to purchasing a home.

We want to address these 2 concerns with our Reinvent Affordability campaign. Compared to neighbouring countries, we are offering value buy products such as M Vertica in Cheras which is only 500m away from MRT and LRT and only 4.5km from the city. Priced from RM450,800, the 3 to 4 bedroom homes from 850sf is something that homebuyers want and is able to afford. In fact, 74% of our target sales in 2018 is priced below RM500,000.”

He also commented that in 2017, many talked about the overhang conditions in Malaysia. “We believe this is due to mismatch in terms of location and pricing. Demand for properties in strategic location and right pricing continues to be strong. This can be seen at the preview of our M Centura in Sentul (from RM328,000), Fern in Meridin East, Johor (from RM410,550) and M Vista in Southbay, Penang (from RM345,800) which recorded a good take up rate of more than 95% over a weekend.”

As of 30 September 2017, the Group recorded a healthy balance sheet which provides opportunities to pursue more land banking. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Leong shared,In 2017, we have acquired 2 lands in Klang Valley and 1 land in Penang which adds up to Gross Development Value (GDV) of RM3.65billion.

We currently have a remaining landbank of 2,131 acres and Remaining GDV and unbilled sales of RM28.3 billion which will sustain the company’s growth for the next 8 years. We will continue to be active in our land acquisitions, armed with our healthy balance sheet.”

  • Strong financial track records with 14% return on equity for 5-year average (above comparable peers with 9%) and 49% asset turnover over 5-year average (above comparable peers with 24%).
  • Target to increase land banks in the Klang Valley to 75% from the current 66% in the next two years.
  • Looking at land banks in prime locations that fit into our business strategy such as favourable payment terms.
  • As affordable properties are main focus of the Group, the lands to be acquired must be suitable for immediate launch of affordable range of properties.
  • According to StarProperty.com survey, 57.21% people want their first home to be in Klang Valley and more than half of them prefer Greater KL.
  • Klang Valley also recorded the highest household income in 2016 currently has a population of 8.1million. This shows that our strategy to focus our developments in Klang Valley is in the right direction to cater to market demand.

Tan Sri Leong said, “We envision our projects to be sustainable developments that stems from population growth, interconnectivity of society, transportation, facilities and economy. We put our best effort in ensuring our buyers can benefit from convenience and value appreciation of our developments in the long run.”

The new Southville City Direct Interchange which will be open for use in Q1 2018 allows access into Southville City directly from KL-Seremban Highway, which is estimated to be 1.2km from the highway exit. Southville City will be only 19km drive away from KL city as opposed to the previous 25km distance.

Mah Sing is developing a connecting road into the Tanjung Langsat – Cahaya Baru Toll Connecting Highway, which forms part of the Senai Desaru Expressway. This shortens travel time to key locations such as Tanjung Langsat and Pasir Gudang between 15 minutes to 45 minutes.

The Group has also allocated approximately 9.66 acres to build SJK (C) Sim Mow Yu within the township. The school will be a good addition for homeowners, especially married couples and young families.

Property Outlook in 2018

Tan Sri Leong shared, “Although the current property market is affected by weak sentiments, the healthy Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, strengthening of Ringgit and higher oil prices will continue to support the property market in the longer term.”

Malaysia recorded improving GDP with an estimate of 5.2%-5.7% for 2017, compared to 4.3%-4.8% expected earlier.

  • GDP growth for 2018 is forecasted to be as resilient as it was in 2017.
  • Ringgit has stabilised further towards the end of 2017 and likely to continue in 2018.
  • Supported by Malaysia’s young demographic and growing population. HSBC Housing Survey 2017, 94% Malaysian millennials does not own a property but intending to buy in the next five years.
  • Continued development of public transportation systems that include LRT, MRT and KL-SG High Speed Rail.
  • Long-term demand will continue to be strong for property buyers who are buying to own or buying for long-term investment.  Property as an investment asset remains one of the safest form of investment and a good hedge against inflation.
