Trend Guna Kemudahan Tanpa Tunai Semakin Meningkat-Kad Merchantrade Turut Raih Populariti

Gelombang digital yang melanda Malaysia ketika ini memberi banyak manfaat bukan sahaja kepada industri yang terbabit malah kepada masyarakat umum atau orang ramai.

INI kerana segala urusan harian semakin mudah diuruskan daripada memesan makanan atau minuman secara dalam talian menggunakan telefon pintar sehinggalah kepada membeli sebuah kereta dalam talian beli belah.

Segala-galanya kini dihujung jari dan seseorang itu juga tidak perlu melangkah masuk ke mana-mana bank untuk membuat bayaran tertentu kerana semua boleh dilakukan di telefon pintar menggunakan aplikasi atau menggunakan kad.

Mengikut kajian dilakukan oleh PwC Malaysia mendapati, lanskap pembayaran digital di negara ini pada 2018 meningkat dengan wujudnya seramai 40 pemain e-wallet berbanding 28 pemain pada 2016.

Usaha mewujudkan masyarakat tanpa tunai menyebabkan pasaran e-wallet dijangka berkembang kukuh dan turut dijangka menyokong fungsi yang lebih rumit lain seperti pembayaran elektronik, pertukaran wang dan kod imbas QR.

Pemain industri juga melihat Malaysia sebagai pasaran utama berdasarkan kepada demografik dan potensi yang bakal memacu e-wallet.

Menurut PwC, antara faktor menjadi pemacu kepada kadar penembusan internet dan mudah alih yang tinggi iaitu kadar penembusan internet sebanyak 86 peratus dan 64 peratus kadar penembusan telefon mudah alih.

Populasi golongan muda yang mahir menggunakan teknologi pula sebanyak 59 peratus membabitkan golongan berusia 35 tahun ke bawah dan kadar literasi dalam kewangan yang tinggi iaitu 85 peratus yang menggunakan sistem perbankan.

Berdasarkan kepada jangkaan PwC Malaysia, pasaran e-wallet dijangka berkembang kepada USD20 bilion menjelang 2024, didorong oleh pertumbuhan industri yang dinamik dan potensi pasaran.

Berikutan e-wallet boleh digunakan dalam pelbagai platform pembayaran, segmen runcit, makanan dan minuman (F&B), dagangan elektronik dan pemindahan Peer-to-Peer dijangka menjadi segmen paling popular.

Tabiat membeli-belah secara online juga sudah menjadi trend dalam kalangan masyarakat Malaysia dan ia semakin berkembang pantas sepanjang tahun lalu.

Ini kerana kemudahan membeli-belah secara online jauh lebih mudah dan tidak membebankan apatah lagi menjimatkan masa serta kos tanpa perlu secara fizikal berada di kedai atau pusat beli belah.

Laman beli belah popular dalam talian di negara ini yang menjual pelbagai jenama popular misalnya, menyaksikan trend berbelanja secara online sudah menjadi amalan rakyat Malaysia apabila mereka menjadikan amalan itu sebagai rutin mingguan, bulanan atau tahunan dalam membeli barangan diingini.

Walaupun tiada kedai fizikal, pelanggan masih mahu membelinya disebabkan kualiti yang tinggi, harga murah dan perkhidmatan penghantaran yang cekap dalam setiap pembelian.

Dalam pada itu, Kajian Sikap Pembayaran Pengguna Visa melaporkan, populariti membeli-belah secara online rakyat Malaysia telah meningkat sembilan peratus berbanding tahun 2016 dengan 76 peratus rakyat Malaysia menyatakan mereka membeli-belah secara online sekurang-kurangnya sekali sebulan.

Kajian itu juga menunjukkan kategori teratas untuk belian secara online adalah pembayaran bil 58 peratus, fesyen 52 peratus dan tempahan perjalanan 52 peratus.

General Insurance Industry Grew 1.5 Percent In 2018

The General Insurance Industry registered a growth of 1.5% in 2018 on the back of higher premiums from its two largest classes of insurance, Motor and Fire.

GROSS written premiums amounted to RM17.92 billion. Motor remained the largest class with a market share of 47.3% followed by Fire at 19.6% and Marine Aviation & Transit (MAT) at 7.4%.

Motor insurance recorded gross written premiums of RM8.47 billion with a growth of
1.8% supported by increases in new vehicle sales in both the private motor cars and
commercial vehicles segments.

Close to 600,000 new vehicles were sold in 2018 compared to 580,000 in 2017 as a result of increased demand during the tax free months from June to August 2018.

Fire insurance grew 2.8% and maintained its position as the second largest class with gross written premiums of RM 3.51 billion. MAT insurance declined 0.3% with gross written premiums of RM 1.33 billion owing to reductions in the Cargo and Offshore Oil Related classes.

Medical and Health insurance (MHI) grew 5.2% to RM1.16 billion while Personal Accident insurance rose 6.9% to RM 1.21 billion. The Miscellaneous Class recorded a dip of 4.8% with gross written premiums at RM2.24 billion.

Within this class Bonds, Liabilities, Engineering and Workmen’s Compensation insurances declined year on year. Uncertainty over some mega construction projects which are currently under review contributed to the slowdown.

Malaysia has one of the highest road accident numbers in the world. Total Motor
insurance claims incurred by the industry rose to RM 5.45 billion in 2018. PIAM is
committed to work with the Government and all agencies to reduce road accidents
nationwide.

The industry is in close collaboration with both Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) and Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR) at the Ministry of Transport. PIAM is working with the Ministry to enable insurers to have access to traffic summons data which can then be used in the calculation of insurance premiums.

In this way bad risks will be recognized while good drivers with summons-free record will be incentivized.

At the recent Chinese New Year (CNY) Road Safety Campaign officiated by the Minister of Transport, PIAM launched its music video on road safety. The video features PIAM’s road safety campaign Ambassador, Adibah Noor with cameos by the Minister of Transport Anthony Loke and the Deputy Minister of Transport, Dato’ Kamarudin Jaffar.

PIAM Chairman Antony Lee said, “We believe that the general public can relate to this music video as it highlights the bad habits that we have adopted knowingly or unknowingly on a daily basis, which compromises our safety on the road.

If Malaysians are able to change these bad driving habits, we remain optimistic on the possibility to reduce national accidents by 20% in the near term and 50% in the longer term. Everyone needs to play their role to make our roads safer.

Drivers need to follow traffic rules and observe speed limits, because speeding is one of the major causes of accidents. We hope this music video will be able to reach out to all Malaysians and make a difference.”

Based on the latest statistics from the police it is encouraging to note that there has been a slight decrease in the number of accidents during Op Selamat in conjunction with CNY 2019. PDRM statistics show that the number of accidents reduced by 1% during the 15-day period compared to the same period last year (20,829 in 2019 compared to 21,041 in 2018). Fatalities also reduced by 4.4% from 226 to 216 deaths.

PIAM CEO Mark Lim said, “Motorists involved in accidents can rely on PIAM’s Accident Assist Call Centre (AACC) for help. The AACC toll-free hotline 15-500 operates 24/7 nationwide, providing emergency roadside assistance such as towing services and responding to insurance claims enquires from all motorists.

It provides peace of mind to all road users and prevents any unwanted third party intervention which can confuse or take advantage of victims, especially at the scene of an
accident.”

Overall the number of stolen vehicles continued its downward trend in 2018 declining 25% from 16,729 to 12,496 vehicles for all classes. Since 2015 lesser vehicles have been stolen year on year. PIAM and the Vehicle Theft Reduction Council of Malaysia (VTREC) commend the unrelenting efforts, commitment and hard work of the Police, Customs and other law-enforcement agencies to combat vehicle theft in the country.

The VTREC platform is a success story for the industry. Positive outcomes can be achieved with concerted efforts by all stakeholders (both government and private sector) working together for a common purpose.

To this end PIAM will expand the scope of VTREC to include reduction of road accidents as a key objective of the council. Discussions with all stakeholders on the broadening of VTREC’s scope are currently ongoing.

The Phased Liberalisation of the general insurance industry has gained a steady momentum since it took effect in 2016. PIAM member companies have introduced new and innovative products to better serve consumers and meet their various protection needs.

As at 25 February 2019, the industry has launched 48 new Motor and 46 new Fire products in the market. The industry eagerly anticipates further liberalisation and look forward to the eventual opening up of the market.

The Fraud Intelligence System (FIS) which was implemented in late 2017 has completed its pilot phase. It will help insurers to combat motor insurance fraud in Malaysia.

This is an industry-wide initiative with the participation of all member companies. Deploying the latest data analytics technology, FIS provide fraud alerts to insurers when a claim is first submitted by a motorist.

The system will expose fraud syndicates at work and provide leads for detailed investigation by insurance companies, eventually leading to their prosecution under the law.

Looking ahead the Malaysian economy in all likelihood will remain on a steady growth path but current challenges in the operating and business climate will prevail. PIAM anticipates the general insurance industry to continue growing at a slow rate for 2019.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif AirAsia X Malaysia Benyamin Ismail berkata, “Selamat datang ke Fukuoka, destinasi pertama kami di kepulauan Selatan Jepun, Kyushu.”

“Lebih dari 156,000 tempat duduk setahun akan ditawarkan bagi laluan baharu ini, memberi peluang kepada para tetamu untuk menempah perjalanan tambang rendah ke satu lagi destinasi menakjubkan yang terdapat di negara Jepun.”

QSR Brands Laksana Pertukaran Sisa Kepada Tenaga Peringkat Komersial-Pertama Di Asia Tenggara

QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd (QSR Brands), pengendali restoran KFC dan Pizza Hut, menjalin kerjasama strategik bersama FatHopes Energy Sdn Bhd (FatHopes Energy) bagi melancar inisiatif mampan dan mesra alam di dalam operasinya menerusi pemprosesan sisa minyak kepada bahan api industri.

INISIATIF ini merupakan sebuah usaha bagi memacu perubahan ke arah kesejahteraan sosial dan persekitaran di samping menjana bekalan bahan api bio dari Malaysia secara berterusan.

Memorandum perjanjian (MoA) telah dimeterai menerusi pertukaran dokumen di antara
Merrill Christopher Pereyra, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Bahagian Restoran, QSR Brands dan Vinesh Sinha, Pengasas dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif FatHopes Energy.

Ianya disaksikan oleh Dato’ Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim, Pengerusi QSR Brands bersama Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil, Pengarah Urusan QSR Brands di dalam majlis yang berlangsung di KFC Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur. Turut hadir Dato’ Eddy Leong, Ketua Pegawai Operasi FatHopes Energy.

Dato’ Kamaruzzaman menyatakan bahawa kerjasama ini merupakan sebuah langkah progresif di dalam usaha kelestarian QSR Brands serta sejajar dengan matlamat perangkaan alam sekitar, sosial dan tadbir urus (ESG) syarikat yang telah diperbaharui, di samping mengulas manfaat inisiatif berkenaan.

“Inisiatif ini secara sosialnya disasarkan bagi menyalur hasil minyak terpakai kepada aplikasi perindustrian yang boleh dikesan, sekaligus menentang risiko penggunaan minyak kitar semula di dalam penyediaan makanan harian rakyat Malaysia.

Manakala, impak positif terhadap alam sekitar dihasilkan menerusi pertukaran minyak terpakai kepada bahan api bio yang bermaksud sejumlah besar karbon* tidak lagi dibebaskan ke atmosfera.

Akhir sekali, inisiatif ini turut menyumbang manfaat dalam aspek ekonomi menerusi peningkatan pendapatan daripada pertambahan kutipan isipadu pemulihan minyak masak terpakai daripada restoran KFC,” katanya.

Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azahari menyatakan bahawa sistem FHE iTank milikan FatHopes
Energy, sebuah sistem pengumpulan minyak terpakai berinovasi yang akan dipasang di semua restoran KFC adalah direka bagi memperbaiki kecekapan operasi dapur restoran dengan menghapuskan pengendalian minyak terpakai secara langsung di samping meningkatkan hasil kutipannya secara ketara.

“Kami amat menyokong teknologi pemulihan sisa inovatif oleh FatHopes Energy, kecekapan sasaran aplikasi mereka untuk peringkat komersial serta minat yang mendalam terhadap inisiatif kitar semula sisa kepada tenaga (waste to energy).

Bersama FatHopes sebagai rakan kerjasama lestari, membolehkan kami memberi tumpuan lebih terhadap perniagaan teras kami, bagi menghidangkan perkhidmatan terbaik kepada jutaan pelanggan setiap bulan,” katanya.

Vinesh Sinha berkata, kolaborasi bersama QSR Brands menandakan sebuah lagi detik penting di dalam perjalanan FatHopes Energy serta ianya merupakan usaha yang wajar dijadikan contoh dan diterapkan di dalam industri.

“Kami amat berbesar hati dengan sokongan yang ditunjukkan olah QSR Brands dan sedia untuk menawarkan kepakaran serta kebolehan kami dalam menyediakan penyelesaian inovatif bagi menguruskan sisa minyak dari restoran KFC menerusi kaedah yang beretika dan bertanggungjawab.” katanya.

Inisiatif bersama FatHopes Energy ini akan dijalankan secara berperingkat bermula daripada pemasangan FHE iTank di restoran KFC seluruh Malaysia, serta turut berpotensi dikembangkan kepada operasi Singapura.

Kedua-dua pihak sedang di dalam perbincangan bagi peringkat kedua kerjasama berkenaan, di mana FatHopes Energy akan mengendalikan kilang biodiesel QSR Brands di
Port Klang bagi tujuan pemprosesan sisa ke bahan api bio.

Menerusi kendalian FatHopes Energy, keupayaan operasi tapak sedia ada berkenaan dapat dipertingkatkan bagi memacu agenda global ke arah penyahkarbonan – sekaligus meletakkan Malaysia sebagai perintis di dalam penghasilan bahan api bio berasaskan sisa.

Maxis Dan Huawei Tandatangani MoU Bagi Program 5G Di Malaysia

Maxis, syarikat perkhidmatan komunikasi dan digital menyeluruh terkemuka di Malaysia dan Huawei menandatangani memorandum persefahaman (MoU) semasa majlis Mobile World Congress 2019.

KEDUA-dua pihak akan bekerjasama untuk mempercepatkan 5G di Malaysia. MoU ini bertujuan untuk bekerjasama dalam percubaan 5G yang lengkap dengan sistem dan perkhidmatan hujung-ke-hujung.

Menandatangani bagi pihak Maxis ialah Gokhan Ogut, bakal Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif dan Morten Bangsgaard, Ketua Pegawai Teknologi.

Sementara itu, Huawei diwakili oleh Pengerusi Rotasi, Guo Ping, Presiden Rantau Pasifik Selatan, Jeffery Liu dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Malaysia, Michael Yuan.

Maxis dan Huawei menandatangani MoU untuk bekerjasama dalam percubaan 5G yang lengkap dengan sistem dan perkhidmatan hujung-ke-hujung untuk mempercepatkan 5G di Malaysia.

Naza Academy Hosts Graduation Ceremony For Skills Training And Diploma Programmes

Naza Academy, an accredited Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre in Gurun, Kedah held a grand graduation ceremony this morning for 70 graduates of its Diploma in Skills Malaysia (Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia) and Malaysian Skills Certification programmes (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia).

THE graduation ceremony was graced by the Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Dato Mahfuz Omar.

“We are proud to witness yet another successful batch of Naza Academy students graduate
today, dedicated individuals who have spent a great deal of time and effort to obtain their
Diploma in Malaysia Skills and Malaysian Skills Certification.

It is our mission at Naza Academy to continue producing skilled and capable graduates prepared to join the constantly evolving industry of automotive. With this, we hope to encourage more students at Naza Academy to follow in their seniors’ footsteps towards achieving a strong tertiary education,” said the Principal of Naza Academy, Amirul Sulaiman.

The Deputy Minister of Human Resources stated during his speech, “Vocational education
and training has been proven to contribute to the upskilling of human capital, aligned with the country’s objective to reach the status of a developed country.

With the education and training provided by TVET institutions, it results in a well-trained and competent workforce which contributes positively to the needs of the industry and the labour market as well as enhance efforts in producing higher income workers”.

In addition to the graduation ceremony, Naza Academy also held an Open Day Exhibition
inviting people from the public to participate in fun activities around the campus such as
exhibition booths by Naza Education and government agencies, automotive show,
motorcycle show, blood donation drive, photo booths and many more.
