Mlabs Enters Glove And Healthcare Sector; Expect New High In Stock

Local glove companies are in a race to produce more medical or nitrile gloves to meet global demand and joining the race soon will be Mlabs Systems Bhd (Mlabs).

We just heard from the market that Mlabs is working closely with one company, whom we think might be an existing glove manufacturer to help ramp up glove production in response to the global shortage brought about by the COVID-19.

There are currently 13.1 million confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide, and the total death count is 572,000 with the majority of the cases in the United States, followed by Brazil, India and Russia.

Malaysia is the world’s largest source of medical gloves, with a market share of about 65 per cent. This year alone local manufacturers are expected to produce 240 billion pieces of gloves because of COVID-19.

There are more orders coming in from the United States and Europe and Malaysian glove manufacturers aren’t able to meet all their demand.

Mlabs entry into this business comes at just the right timing as the COVID-19 crisis is far from over.

We are not sure yet how many pieces of the medical or nitrile gloves Mlabs will make with its new partner or where the factory is located but we will try to dig for more information soon from our reliable sources.

Mlabs has traded actively since June. It had jumped from 2 sen in the past few weeks and is currently doing 4.5 sen to 5 sen. Today the stock had 40 million shares traded.

At 4.5 sen or 5 sen, Mlabs is definitely a cheap stock to invest in and the potential for growth is amazing.

Just look at how all the glove counters have performed. The stocks continue to rise to new levels week after week and soon we can expect the same with Mlabs.

Mlabs has made several announcements this year, and one includes the company signing a collaboration agreement with Ipharmarecare (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Ipharmacare). Mlabs has said this deal will provide the company an opportunity to expand its solution into the pharmaceutical industry throughout Southeast Asia, including Malaysia.

Mlabs will provide its video-conferencing products to Ipharmacare to complement the latter’s online pharmaceutical platform. Ipharmacare in turn will promote Mlab products, including video conferencing systems, messaging systems and network solutions, to its platform users and/or independent pharmacies.

The company has also announced a private placement of up to 267.4 million new ordinary shares, representing 30 per cent of the total number of issued shares in the company, to independent third-party investors to be identified later.

In a filing with Bursa, Mlabs said that based on an illustrative issue price of RM0.0243 per placement share, the gross proceeds to be raised from the proposed private placement will be utilised for working capital, among others.

As at March 31, 2020, Mlabs has no borrowings or debt securities in the company.

Galaxy S20 Designers Discuss Making The Smartphone Experience More Sustainable

According to a 2018 report by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) entitled “Single-Use Plastics: A Roadmap for Sustainability,” unless the world improves its consumption patterns and waste management practices, by 2050, there will be roughly 12 million metric tons of plastic litter polluting landfills and the environment.

It’s hard to overstate the urgency of this issue. Thankfully, people around the world, especially the younger generation, are realizing the importance of environmentally conscious consumption, and are adopting products and solutions that put the planet first.

Samsung Electronics is deeply committed to this cause, and has taken steps to make its products as green as can be.

Read on to learn how, by reducing the use of plastics and vinyl in packaging, and by crafting phone cases from recycled materials, Samsung’s designers are promoting a much more sustainable smartphone experience.

The evolution of Galaxy devices’ packaging can be summed up with what could be called the three R’s: reducing paper use by streamlining packaging’s dimensions, replacing plastic with paper, and removing unnecessary components by simplifying packaging’s structure.

Adhering to these green

The Galaxy S series’ environmentally conscious packaging is the culmination of 10 years of hard work. Two thousand twelve’s Galaxy S3 was the first device in the series to feature recycled material in its packaging.

The next year, Samsung officially introduced its first environmentally conscious mobile packaging, created using discarded paper, with the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S5 and more
recent entries in the series have added even more environmentally conscious elements to the mix, including biodegradable vinyl 1 and petroleum-free soy ink.

Design Team member Mogwon Son discussed how Samsung equipped last year’s Galaxy S10 with eco-friendly packaging consisting of FSC-certified paper boxes, as well as plastic- and vinyl-free interior components.

“We abandoned the holder tray and the box-covering sleeve, but kept the bottom box, which includes an all-in-one pulp mold,” said Son. “This pulp mold, which utilizes pulp slurry made from bamboo fibers and sugarcane bagasse, is better for the environment, and helps minimize waste.”

The Galaxy S9, S10 and S20’s earphones (left) and travel adapters (right), displayed in order of release. As you can see, plastic films are no longer used to protect these products in packaging.

To further minimize waste, the plastic films that were used to wrap accessories like chargers and earphones have been phased out. Now, Galaxy devices’ earphones and cables come neatly packed in a paper box.

So too do their chargers, which also now feature matte finishes rather than the glossy
sheens that previously required protective plastic film.

So too do their chargers, which also now feature matte finishes rather than the glossy

“First of all, it can be difficult to apply specific colors to a pulp mold,” said Son. “The surface of this material is curved and rough, which means that coloring it will require some retouches.

Once it’s formed, the pulp mold may appear reddish or blue, and it can look like it’s stained depending on the recycled materials that were used to create it. In the end, the process of achieving a clean and even black hue required a lot of trial and error.”

According to Son, the process of making Samsung’s existing packaging processes greener presented a number of challenges. The team overcame those hurdles, he explained, by devoting the time, money and effort necessary to make it happen.

“Sure, it was difficult, but the reason it was difficult is that these designs need to keep up with the needs of the times,” said Son. “In the end, we wanted to offer a better experience with paper packaging than users would have with plastic or vinyl.

This is why we chose to accentuate the soft texture of the pulp material itself, and devoted a great deal of effort to refining the packaging’s exterior.”

The Galaxy S20+ 5G’s environmentally conscious packaging features minimal use of plastics and vinyl

Not only has the team’s hard work made Samsung’s packaging more sustainable, it’s also made it that much more convenient. Whereas in the past, users would need to separate packaging components in order to properly dispose of them, because the Galaxy S20’s packaging is crafted entirely from paper, it’s 100-percent recyclable.

“I’ve made it my mission to create high-quality packaging that can be recycled easily to help protect the environment,” said Son. “To achieve this, I started to consider how the packaging would ultimately be discarded and recycled from the initial planning stage.

Going forward, I’ll continue to explore sustainable packaging designs based on the philosophy, ‘the fewer, the better.’”

Putting Plastic Waste to Work with Environmentally Conscious Cases

At first glance, the Galaxy S20+’s Kvadrat case appears stylish and modern. Thin, but durable enough to protect the device from the wear and tear of everyday life.

Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that there’s more to this particular case than meets the eye. That’s because the Galaxy S20+’s Kvadrat case has been made through upcycling – a process in which end-of-life products are transformed into new, environmentally conscious products and materials.

Using this process, Samsung and premium Danish textile brand Kvadrat can produce two
striking Galaxy S20+ cases from a single 500ml plastic bottle.

Samsung’s collaboration with Kvadrat, an environmentally conscious company that has obtained the European Union’s famously rigorous Ecolabel certification, dates back to 2018.

The project’s lead designer, Yoonyoung Kim, explained how she arranged to meet with Kvadrat prior to attending an overseas furniture exhibition. When she visited Kvadrat’s showroom in Milan, she fell in love with the textiles on display.

When the companies eventually kicked off their collaboration, the process of meeting Samsung’s premium design standards without sacrificing Kvadrat’s charming aesthetic required a fair bit of coordination.

Much like aesthetics, durability is key when it comes to smartphone cases. This meant that the Galaxy S20+’s Kvadrat case would need to be not just thin, but ladder-proof as well. To achieve this, Kim worked with developers to find a way to prevent the case’s knitted fabric from unraveling at its edges.

After testing out a variety of methods, her team managed to optimize the finishing process,
and enhance Samsung’s equipment to properly manufacture the products. The result of these extensive efforts is one beautiful ‘green’ case – the first product produced in collaboration with the company to feature the Kvadrat logo.

Recently, global fashion houses have been increasing their investment in environmentally conscious materials. The trend, Kim explained, is about shunning leather and polyurethane-coated materials in favor of more environmentally conscious alternatives.

“When compared to typical synthetic polyester yarns, the recycled yarns used in this case are less uniform in diameter, and they’re so delicate that it’s difficult to weave them into elaborate patterns, which requires a careful and exacting finishing process,” said Kim.

“Going green is not a fad – it’s a global shift in perception, and the mission of all manufacturers. Therefore, we cannot stop here.

Through our ongoing partnership with Kvadrat, we will continue to create innovative accessory designs that combine expressive patterns and colors with optimum usability.”

Promoting Environmentally Conscious Lifestyles

Kim is correct in her assertion that going green is not a fad, but a mission that we should all get behind, as we live on a planet with limited resources. The aforementioned UNEP report also emphasizes our communal role in solving environmental issues, noting that governments, businesses and individuals should each do their part.

When it comes to going green, both designers stress the importance of taking a step-by-step approach until greenness has become fully engrained in our lives. They acknowledge that starting this transition can be difficult, and sticking to it can be even more so.

“At the moment, the idea of going green may be viewed as a trend, and while there is a consensus that everyone should follow it, there is a possibility that this trend could fade later on,” both said in unison.

“We sincerely hope that this isn’t the case, and that environmental consciousness becomes a deeply rooted aspect of our lives.”

The designers will continue to work tirelessly to persuade mobile device users to adopt a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. “I think that designing simple packaging like this is important,” said Son, “and I will continue to do my part to find materials that satisfy users from the moment they open the packaging until the moment they dispose of it.”

“By utilizing materials that not only allow us to create all-new designs with natural and beautiful colors – something which was previously thought to be possible only with delicate natural fibers – but are also environmentally conscious even at the injection molding stage,” added Kim.

“I will continue to do my best to ensure that the products we develop offer users the satisfaction of contributing to making the world a better place for all.”

Anzo-Permaju Get J.P. Morgan And Macquarie Group To Raise RM500 million For Glove Factory

J.P. Morgan and Macquarie Group is expected to raise RM500 million via the issuance of bonds for Anzo Holdings Bhd (Anzo) who is raising money to refurbish and expand its glove manufacturing factory in Manjung, Perak.

Anzo is acquiring the land, factory, machinery and equipment owned by Wintrade World Sdn Bhd (Wintrade) for RM55 million.

Market analyst said, “We hear from the market that Anzo is signing the Sales and Purchase Agreement (SAP) with Wintrade to purchase all the latter’s assets within this week, or earliest by this Thursday (July 16)”.

This means Anzo will officially be a glove manufacturer in the likes of Top Glove, Kossan and Hartalega.

A broker told me to grab the shares of Anzo now and keep them long-term as the stock will “fly” like how it happened for all the Bursa-listed glove and healthcare companies.

Anzo said, two weeks ago that the assets in Manjung are ready to be mobilised and commissioned to produce 1.2 billion pieces of medical or nitrile gloves a year.

The 1.2 billion pieces of medical gloves will be produced using the current 9 production lines at the factory.

Anzo is required to produce more than 3 billion pieces of medical gloves as it has orders in hand worth US$200 million from the United States and Europe. To make 3 billion gloves, Anzo requires at least 15 production lines to operate at their full capacity.

Under the deal with the buyers from the United States and Europe, Anzo is expected to start supplying the gloves from October this year and go full swing early next year.

It is timely that Anzo gets J.P. Morgan and Macquarie Group to raise the RM500 million for the factory expansion.

Anzo requires money to firstly refurbish the factory, including the production lines, machinery and equipment, and then add 6-7 new production lines and later expand the factory with more production lines.

It will work in a joint venture with Permaju Industries Bhd (Permaju) for this. Does this mean Permaju is also venturing into glove manufacturing? That will be a very interesting discovery!

Permaju and Anzo have completed a feasibility study on the Manjung factory to look at the fastest way possible to move the production of the gloves.

Anzo could be anticipating more orders from the United States and Europe as the number of Covid-19 cases worldwide keep increasing, and there is a shortage worldwide for medical or nitrile gloves which is why it is in a rush to expand the factory.

Both Anzo and Permaju traded actively today.

Anzo’s share price movement started after the company announced that it won a RM1.3 billion contract to supply copper scrap over 40 months to a steelmaker in South Korea effective July 1.

Anzo and its subsidiaries entered into a supply agreement with CSTME Resources Sdn Bhd, which holds an AP licence to export the goods. CSTME agreed to buy birch/cliff copper scrap or berry/candy copper scrap from Anzo and export the products to the steelmaker in South Korea.

Anzo is expected to supply 60,000 tonnes of copper scrap to CSTME at RM23,000 per tonne over 40 months. CSTME has been supplying the copper to South Korea effective July 1. As of July 13, it has supplied up to 650 tonnes worth almost RM15 million to RM16 million.

With this copper deal and the orders it is getting for medical gloves, Anzo is set to post more than RM200 million in net profit in its next financial year ending July 31, 2021 and onward. Anzo may sell a box of 1,000 pieces at US$75.

Anzo’s entry into the copper business and glove manufacturing has attracted big global funds from the United States, China and Hong Kong who have been buying up shares in the company since early June this year.

The stock has moved from a low of 5 sen in June to touch 26 sen last week. We think Anzo will hit a second wave of high trading this week. It could hit limit-up or surge beyond 30 sen.

Permaju & Anzo In A JV To Expand Glove Factory In Perak; New Shareholders For Anzo Soon

Permaju Industries Bhd (Permaju) and Anzo Holdings Bhd (Anzo) will jointly expand a glove manufacturing plant in Manjung Perak, which could cost about RM25 million.

The amount is also to refurbish the factory’s existing 9 production lines and to add 4 or 6 new lines to meet the increasing orders coming in from the United States and Europe.

People who are aware about this said that, Permaju and its consultants have done a feasibility study on the Manjung factory to determine the fastest way to get the factory to produce over 3 billion pieces of medical or nitrile gloves per annum.

Anzo is paying RM55 million to acquire a company called Wintrade World Sdn Bhd which owns the land, factory, machinery and equipment.

The assets are ready to be mobilised and commissioned to produce 1.2 billion pieces of medical and nitrile gloves a year but Anzo needs more than 3 billion pieces a year to meet the existing orders from the United States and Europe worth about US$200 million.

Looks like Permaju and Anzo have to speed up refurbishing and expanding the factory as the outbreak of the disease is getting worse and there is currently a shortage in the supply of medical or nitrile gloves worldwide.

It seems to me Anzo is moving ahead with its expansion, both in copper and glove manufacturing despite CSTME Resource Sdn Bhd’s exit from the company on July 8

CSTME emerged as Anzo’s largest shareholder on June 23 with an indirect 11.62% stake. The stock closed 13 sen on the day this was announced to Bursa Malaysia.

On July 8, CSTME disposed of its shares in Anzo via the open market. CSTME sold a total of about 115 million shares at 23 sen worth about RM25 million. It sold the shares at 81 per cent higher than its buying price.

Even though CSTME sold its shares in Anzo, the stock traded actively. It closed 20 sen on July 10 and the average daily volume exceeded more than 100 million for 8 days.

Despite CSTME’s exit from Anzo, their copper deal is still moving ahead and it is business as usual for both the companies.

Last month Anzo secured a RM1.3 billion contract to supply copper scrap over 40 months to a steelmaker in South Korea effective from July 1.

Anzo and its subsidiaries entered into a supply agreement with CSTME, which holds an AP licence to export the goods.

As of July 11, it has supplied up to 600 tonnes worth almost RM14 million.

With this copper deal and the orders it is getting for medical gloves, Anzo is set to post more than RM200 million in net profit in its next financial year ending July 31, 2021 and onward.

This is quite possible given the high trading price for gloves, which is at US$75 per box of 1,000 pieces. It was also reported that copper prices will stabilize in the coming quarters despite a recent surge in the red metal’s value.

Three-month copper futures on the London Metal Exchange (LME) broke the $6,000-a-ton threshold by the end of June — a far cry from its low of around $4,626.50 at the height of Covid-19 fears in March.

On Monday (July 6), three-month copper on the LME gained 1.2% to trade at around $6,088 a ton, Reuters reported. The copper rally over the past month from $5,700 a ton to over $6,000 a ton has occurred against a backdrop of flat to falling equity prices and bond yields, leaving copper looking overvalued by $220 to $420 per ton based on these historical relationships.

Many believe that CSTME’s exit from Anzo is to pave the way for a global fund from China and Hong Kong to come in. This fund from China or Hong Kong has been slowing buying up shares in Anzo and could emerge as a new substantial shareholder soon.

A global investor from the United States is also believed to be eyeing Anzo and is said to have taken up some shares in the company.

We can’t wait to know who they are and we do believe their entry into Anzo is set to fly the stock to a new high. Some traders believe Anzo has the potential to hit RM1.00 and I believe it too.

Anzo is currently the cheapest trading stock on Bursa, which is involved in glove manufacturing and copper trading. Just take a look at how high Top Glove, Hartalega and Kossan are trading now!
