Magnus becomes the first Malaysian game company to sign on with the Italian game publisher, Digital Bros through its subsidiary 505 Game. Re:Legend created waves among global fans with a very successfull Kickstarter campaign that made them the most crowd-funded game in South-East Asia for 2017
Magnus Games Studio – the game development studio behind Re:Legend – announced that the company has entered a worldwide publishing agreement with Italian game publisher and distributor Digital Bros S.p.A., through its subsidiary 505 Games S.p.A..
The groundbreaking agreement will see Re:Legend – an indie, made-in-Malaysia, monster-raising multiplayer simulation role-playing game (RPG) – be marketed over digital games platform Steam to players in globally including Northern America, Western Europe, and Asia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Magnus co-founder DC Gan said that the company is excited to be working with Digital Bros, “It is an absolute honour for a budding studio like Magnus to be partnering a major publisher such as Digital Bros.
We are thrilled with the market opportunities for Re:Legend that this worldwide publishing agreement brings. We worked hard and poured our passion into making this game enjoyable for our supporters and fans, and we hope to bring the game to the next level through our experience working with 505 Games and Digital Bros to grow Re: Legend into a global franchise and at the same time mature into a leading player in our region.”
Re:Legend first made waves among the gaming community when the company broke the record with a 99% upvotes on Square Enix Collective – a curated platform that enables creators to post ideas, and gamers to judge whether those ideas should become a reality. Inspired by cult-classic farm simulation game Harvest Moon, Monster Rancher and Stardew Valley, the game is described as a monster-raising RPG that allows the player to raise magical monsters, known as Magnus; train in farming and fishing; build a village; and play co-operatively with other players.
Convinced of the marketability of the game, brothers and co-founders DC Gan and Welson Gan ran a month-long Kickstarter campaign in July 2017 which was a massive success as the project surpassed its target of US$70,000 in less than 24 hours, achieving 900% funding from backers all around the globe by the end of the campaign and making it the most crowd-funded game in South-East Asia in 2017.
Praising the game as a detailed and creative game that would appeal to both casual and serious players, Raffaele Galante, Chief Operating Officer of Digital Bros said, “We have strongly believed in this project far before the beginning of the Kickstarter campaign and we are very pleased to finally have the chance to announce it here today with Magnus Games Studio and the support of Malaysia’s MDEC.
It is a promising project with passion, novelty, and creativity. Our cooperation with Magnus Games Studio on Re: Legend further confirms our footprint in Asia and our increasing focus on Asian markets, where expectations from fans for games are proving to be very high.”
According to games market intelligence research house Newzoo, there are 2.2 billion gamers across the globe, generating an estimated USD$108.9 billion in game revenues in 2017, with Asia-Pacific contributing to at least a quarter of all revenue.
On digital distribution, Steam shared August last year that it now counts 67 million monthly active players, largely from Northern America and Western Europe, with users in Asia fast catching up with the trend.
This vast opportunity in digital distribution is a boon for Magnus that had a humble beginning as a two-man project back in 2015. The company today consists of 20 people and is based at LEVEL UP Inc, an incubator space for games development created by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to support the games creation industry in Malaysia.
At the recent LEVEL UP KL Games Conference 2017, Magnus won the year’s South-East Asia Best Rising Star Award.
DC added, “We dared to dream big with Re:Legend and we couldn’t have done it without the support from our fans who gave feedback and helped shaped the game. We are also truly grateful to have the support from MDEC in providing us with the industry exposure – locally and internationally – to make this game a reality for many of our fans around the world.”
Representing MDEC at the event, Dato’ Ng Wan Peng, Chief Operating Officer of MDEC congratulated both companies on the newly sealed agreement, “It is another truly ‘Malaysia Boleh’ moment for us and further proof that MDEC’s endeavours are bearing fruit. We have often lauded local studios and their capability in delivering world-class IPs, so we are extremely proud that Digital Bros shares the sentiment about Magnus and Re:Legend.
On behalf of MDEC, we congratulate Magnus for landing this major deal and putting Malaysia another step closer to being the preferred regional hub for games development and delivery by 2025, an inspiration that is in line with our Digital Economy initiative.”
Enzo Ferrari was born 120 years ago. The Enzo Ferrari Museum is celebrating the anniversary with a photo exhibition
Enzo Anselmo Ferrari, the son of Alfredo and Adalgisa, was born in Modena on 18 February 1898. As a child, he showed an unbridled passion for cars (his father, after all, had a workshop…) and as an adult he went on to become not only a great car manufacturer but one of the world’s greatest representatives of the Italian spirit. He was also one of the most influential personalities of the 20th century.
To celebrate his 120th birth anniversary, a photographic exhibition has been organised at Enzo’s birthplace, within the complex that now houses the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena.
It includes images depicting him at various stages of his life: from childhood to adulthood, from his career as a driver to that of a manager and manufacturer alongside unforgettable motor racing champions such as Nuvolari, Castellotti and Villeneuve.
“It seems incredible to think that Enzo Ferrari was born in the 19th century,” says Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne.
“His lesson is more relevant than ever and his modernity unquestionable. He was a man with extraordinary vision and ability to manage people and resources as well as a strong entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional courage.
One wonders what he could have achieved if he had had access to today’s technical resources and knowledge. The mark that he left on the world remains a source of pride for all of us at Ferrari and for the whole of Italy.”
Last weekend, Anehajit Kaur, 18, took a step forward towards her dream of being a Formula One race engineer as she enrolled for a Diploma in Motorsport Technology at Naza College of Technology and Business during its Open Day.
“Ever since I was younger, I’ve always been intrigued by the thrilling sounds that F1 race cars make as they speed around the race track and watching F1 races on TV gave me so much excitement.

I can’t wait for the semester to start so I can truly feel like I am closer towards my dream of being a F1 race engineer,” Anehajit added.
“Formula One is no longer just a “man’s world” as more females are taking up an interest in the world of motorsports. Here at Naza College of Technology, we welcome all students with a drive in the automotive industry to help them achieve their dreams,” said Dr Jagdeep Jassel, CEO, Naza College of Technology and Business.

Samsung meraikan kedatangan produk flagship bersama Bintang Korea Park BoGum!
Asas Galaxy Sebagai Standard Emas

Jaguar’s The Art of Performance Tour will make its debut in Malaysia this month, as part of its tour across the Asia Pacific importer region.
FIRST introduced in Europe in 2016, the multi-city tour is a unique driving experience that provides consumers the opportunity to get up close and personal with the new, modern lineup of Jaguar vehicles.
Held from 16 to 18 March at the Setia City Convention Centre, The Art of Performance Tour Malaysia promises an unforgettable and thrilling driving experience.
The public can look forward to putting the Jaguar XE, XF and F-PACE through their paces on a dynamic driving circuit, an on-road drive as well as Jaguar’s innovative Smart Cones course.
Unpredictable with a million different potential courses, Smart Cones is designed to measure the drivers’ skill and exploit the cars’ precise and agile handling. Inspired by the agility training game known as ‘Batak’, the system uses wireless technology to produce both a predetermined and a random course of intelligent illuminating cones, notifying drivers of their next target with only a moment’s notice.
As the car is driven, its precise co-ordinates are measured in relation to the cones and sent to a central computer system 100 times per second to track its performance. Every driver gets a score report that takes into account the model of the car used and driving conditions.
In addition to the driving experience, participants will also be among the first in Malaysia to preview and test drive the F-PACE 2.0L model, which will be launched in Malaysia this April.
The F-PACE’s new 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium powertrain features a single twin-scroll turbo that produces 250PS and 365Nm of torque from only 1,200rpm. The F-PACE has also been designed and engineered for the most stringent global crash test requirements while reducing vehicle weight.
The 2017 Jaguar F-PACE has been named the winner of the 2017 World Car of the Year and won the World Car Design of the Year Award at the New York International Auto Show. In Malaysia, the F-PACE was a winner in the SUV and Crossover category (RM500,001 – RM700,000) at the 2017 Malaysian Car of The Year Awards, which was organised under the auspices of the Malaysian Automotive Institute (MAI).
It was also awarded Editors’ choice for Most Well-Specced Luxury Large-size SUV/Crossover 2017 from The Star’s Carsifu.
To participate in the Art of Performance Tour Malaysia, members of the public must register at https://www.jaguar.com.my/promotions-events/the-art-of-performance-tour. Existing Jaguar-Land Rover customers are also invited to the event.

Uber Kicks Off 3-month “Driver Forward” Initiative By Improving Support, Launches New Greenlight Hub
UBER Malaysia kicked off its 3-month Driver Forward campaign today – a sustained initiative grounded in Uber’s commitment to elevate the experience of driver partners by introducing meaningful changes and initiatives.
The campaign, based on the three pillars of Support, Flexibility and Earnings, derives its key focus areas from feedback obtained by the Uber team, which has been listening and talking to driver partners over the past several months.
The Support pillar focuses on improving customer support for driver partners; the Earnings pillar seeks to enhance their ability to earn; while the Flexibility pillar aims to make it easier for them to balance driving with Uber with their personal priorities and timing.
Commenting on the launch, Karina Ali Noor, General Manager, Expansion, Uber Malaysia said, “Driver partners have told us we need to do better. We have listened and are excited to announce our Driver Forward initiative, which is the outcome of our efforts to find out how we can best improve to make driving better for driver partners.
They play an instrumental role in Uber’s continued growth here in Malaysia and we look forward to earning their continued confidence in us.”
To kick off the first Driver Forward pillar, to improve support, Uber announced its new Greenlight Hub (“GLH”), a support centre in Petaling Jaya for driver-partners.
At 4,600 square feet (460m²), it is twice the size of the previous facility and will be able to serve up to 1,000 driver partners per week, including walk-ins by driver partners who require assistance.
The hub features a briefing room that will be used for introduction sessions for new driver partners and driver-focused learning initiatives, besides also serving as a home base for the Uber driver partner community and the venue for community events. The hub will also feature space for partner vendors to share information on their services and offerings.
“Our new Greenlight Hub for driver-partners is an investment that clearly demonstrates our long-term commitment to supporting driver-partners and growing our business in Malaysia.
With this bigger and more conducive location, we will be able to cater to more driver-partners who require face-to-face support. This is only one of the many things we hope to do as we roll out more support for driver partners, and in turn strengthen the ridesharing ecosystem in Malaysia.”
The new hub at the Axis Business campus in Petaling Jaya operates from 10.00am to 7.00pm on Monday through Friday and 10.00am to 5.00pm on Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Besides the new GLH, Uber also announced a slew of other customer support updates, policy improvements, and product enhancements under the first pillar of Support. These include the following, which are now available to 100% of Uber’s driver partners:
Bahasa Malaysia language support – This will be added to our 24/7 phone support channel for driver-partners. Now, when they call the hotline, they have the option to choose to between English and BM speaking agents.
Cleaning Fees – Driver-partners will be given a RM20 compensation if they choose to clean their vehicles on their own, and will not be required to present a receipt. We are also improving cleaning fee policies so that compensation amounts are based on severity of stains or amount of cleaning required.
Coloured Cars – The colour of the driver-partner’s car icon in the app will reflect the actual colour of their car, which riders can see from from within the app itself on the map. This helps improve the pickup experience – when riders and drivers can easily find each other, we’re able to trim down wait times, which is a win for everyone!
Driver Share My Trip – Similar to the feature for riders, driver-partners can now share a live map of their location, trip status and related information with up to 5 pre-selected contacts while they’re online.
Connect with guest riders – When riders request rides for friends and family, drivers will see the name of the person they will be picking up and will be able to contact them, if needed. The guest rider will receive an SMS with the driver’s name, ETA, car type, license plate and contact info.
Ratings reminder & clearer feedback – Riders will be prompted with a ratings card in their app to rate their previous trip. When riders complete a trip, they also receive a notification to rate the recently completed trip as well. Riders will also be required to provide feedback on all trips rated 4 stars or below, so drivers will receive pro tips on how to provide the best service possible.
In the upcoming months, Uber will be introducing a comprehensive set of initiatives and changes aimed at improving the experience of driver partners, particularly initiatives under the second pillar of Earnings and the third pillar of Flexibility.
