Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Sdn Bhd (TCEAS) baru-baru ini dinobatkan sebagai juara dalam Pertandingan Anugerah Penasihat Servis Cemerlang Nissan Rantau Asia (NISAC) yang diadakan di Thailand.

ERNEST Chong Ruichen dari Pusat 3S Nissan Kuching yang memenangi Pertandingan NISAC Kebangsaan yang diadakan pada April 2018, telah dipilih untuk mewakili Malaysia ke pertandingan peringkat serantau.

Menjadi peserta paling muda, Ernest Chong mengungguli pertandingan Penasihat Servis, sekali gus mengalahkan ramai peserta lain yang lebih berpengalaman dari Hong Kong, Singapura, Republik Korea, Filipina, Brunei dan Sri Lanka.

Beliau dipilih atas kemahiran insaniah yang luar biasa, selain standard pengenalian Jualan dan Cara Servis Nissan (NSSW) serta pemikiran yang berpaksikan kepada pelanggan.

Pertandingan Anugerah Penasihat Servis Cemerlang Nissan Rantau Asia (NISAC) merupakan satu pertandingan peringkat serantau yang dianjurkan oleh Nissan Motor Co Ltd. (NML). Ia bermatlamat untuk mengiktiraf dan memberi anugerah kepada penasihat servis daripada divisyen Selepas Jualan dan Servis yang mempunyai kemahiran terbaik.

Pertandingan ini menilai pelbagai aspek termasuklah teknik mengalu-alukan pelanggan, keseriusan dalam memenuhi keperluan dan kehendak pelanggan, ketelusan yang memberi ketenangan minda kepada pelanggan serta penjelasan jujur agar pelanggan faham sepenuhnya.

Walaupun dalam keadaan yang mencabar, semua pasukan yang terdiri daripada media dan orang awam telah melengkapkan perjalanan selama 2 hari. Kumpulan Awam merekodkan hasil terbaik purata penggunaan minyak.

Berbanding Pusingan di kawasan Tengah dan Pantai Timur, laluan di Sabah merupakan laluan yang paling mencabar.

Para peserta bertolak dari Proton Edar Inanam, sebuah daerah kecil Kota Kinabalu ke Nabalu Kundasang Lodge melalui Menara Jam Tuaran, Serisim Sub-Station, Ladang Teh Sabah dan Kuala Abai sebelum kembali ke Stadium Likas untuk Pengalaman Pemanduan Dinamik.

Beberapa cabaran yang dihadapi oleh para peserta adalah jalanraya tunggal yang mendaki sehingga 2,000m di atas paras laut selain pertembungan dengan sesetengah haiwan tempatan dari ladang. Sesetengah peserta pula sesat disebabkan ketiadaan signal GPS.

Laluan sedemikian bukan sahaja menguji penggunaan minyak, tetapi juga pengendalian dan keselamatan kereta Proton.

Cabaran itu begitu sukar walaupun para profesional industri mengalami kesukaran untuk memandu secara ekonomi namun masih dapat sampai ke ‘check-point’ dalam masa yang ditetapkan.

Yang mengejutkan, peserta kategori Awam tampil lebih baik dengan peserta selebriti Ruhainies yang memenangi dengan mencatatkan 5.76L/100km menentang peserta kategori media terbaik pada 6.12L / 100km.

Sebelum acara bermula, PROTON menegaskan kepada para peserta bahawa objektifnya adalah untuk mencatat penggunaan minyak dengan tepat mengikut keadaan penggunaan harian.

Semua peserta digalakkan memandu dengan penyaman udara dan pada kelajuan yang mewakili pemanduan setiap hari. Ini sangat dihargai oleh peserta kerana keselesaan adalah penting untuk menikmati perjalanan semasa cuaca panas.

Majlis anugerah untuk kawasan Malaysia Timur telah diadakan di PROTON Edar Inanam. Kesemua keputusan disahkan oleh Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF) yang telah mengesahkan kesemua 16 pasukan berjaya melengkapkan perjalanan 420km itu.

Pencapaian terbaik adalah untuk Saga 1.3 CVT pada 5.46L/100km (penggunaan bahan api purata untuk Kumpulan Saga adalah 6.17L/100km), diikuti oleh Persona 1.6 CVT pada 5.83L/100km (penggunaan bahan api purata untuk Kumpulan Persona adalah 6.33 L/100km) dan Iriz 1.3 CVT pada 5.76L/100km (penggunaan bahan api purata untuk Kumpulan Iriz adalah 6.57L/100km).

Media tempatan, bakal-bakal pelanggan, pihak bank dan syarikat insurans turut hadir di majlis penyampaian untuk menyaksikan hasilnya dan meraikan kemenangan dengan para peserta.

Laluan 1-Tank Adventure yang berbukit telah membuktikan pengendalian yang sangat baik dan ciri-ciri keselamatan aktif dan pasif pada kereta Proton.

Setelah melalui jalan-jalan sedemikian, aktiviti Pemanduan Dinamik berjalan dengan mudah selain peserta diajar kemahiran memandu yang lebih baik seperti cara kedudukan tempat duduk, teknik stereng dan penggunaan pedal pemecut.

Melihatkan perkembangan ini, laluan dan aktiviti masa depan mungkin akan mengambil kira lebih banyak ciri yang mencabar untuk memberi manfaat kepada semua pemandu.

Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport Opens New Domestic Boarding Hall

Malaysia Airports, owned Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISGIA) recently opened its new domestic boarding hall, thus increasing the airport capacity from 33 million passengers per annum (mppa) to 41 mppa.

ISGIA, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has been a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Airports since 2015 and is also the second largest airport in Turkey.

The new boarding hall which was constructed at the cost of EUR26 million was the first link in the chain of investment projects in ISGIA’s tenth year of operations.

The new 26,000 sqm boarding hall features four new aerobridges, 1,000 square metres of shopping area, as well as comfortable waiting lounges and prayer rooms. The new boarding hall was officiated by Prof. Ismail Demir, President of Turkey Defense Industry and Istanbul Governor, Vasip Sahin.

Ersel Goral, CEO of ISGIA said that ISGIA has taken major steps in meeting the evolving needs of Turkey’s rapidly growing tourism industry.

“For seven consecutive years from 2009 to 2016, we were recognized as Europe’s fastest-growing airport in terms of number of passengers.

“We expect to register 33.0 million passenger traffic movements this year, which will represent a 9-fold growth over the last ten years,” he said.

For the first half of 2018, we are already registering double-digit growth of 12% compared to the same period last year, increasing to 16.2 million passenger traffic movements,” Göral added when speaking about the new terminal building that has been fully operational since 31 July 2018.

From January to June 2018, International passenger traffic movements increased by 13% to 5.2 million and domestic passenger traffic movements 12%, to 11.0 million. Aircraft movements had also by 7%, to 106,631 movements during the same period.

Ersel had also added that ISGIA had received many other accolades in the last decade, the most recent being ranked 8th in the world for its on-time performance making it the only Turkish airport to be among the top ten.

ISGIA is also looking forward to the opening of its second runway which is currently being constructed by the Turkish government and is expected to become operational by the end of 2019.

The second runway will allow the airport to handle up to 80 flight movements per hour, doubling its present capacity. Future developments to the airport will also ultimately increase the airport system’s capacity to beyond 60 mppa by 2021.

As a destination preferred by the likes of Emirates, Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai, and Air Arabia, and also a hub for both Turkish Airlines and Pegasus to fly to more and more destinations, the airport keeps expanding its scope in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

On top of this, the new subway line linking the airport to the Pendik-Kadikoy subway line is expected to be completed at the beginning of next year. This direct connection will shorten the travelling time from ISGIA, which is located on the Asian side, to Taksim on the European side of Istanbul, to 45 minutes.

Present during the event was also Dato’ Mohd Izani Ghani, the chairman of the ISGIA Board as well as a Malaysia Airports board member. ISGIA is significant contributor to Malaysia Airports’ overseas growth strategy.

The airport operator group will continue to reap benefits from its investments in Istanbul as ISGIA continues its organic growth. Also present at the event was Pendik Mayor, Kenan Sahin.

IDC Report Ranks Huawei As World’s Second Largest Smartphone Vendor in Q2 2018

The secret of Huawei’s success is its consistent and massive investments into research and development.

AT Huawei, over 10% of revenue is invested in R&D every year. In 2017, its R&D investment ranked 6th among all the tech giants globally.

LG Labs to Drive Evolution of Advanced AI Technologies Across Multiple Touchpoints

LG Electronics Inc (LG) is poised to define the future of artificial intelligence (AI) for consumers and businesses in the years ahead with the establishment of a major new AI research presence in North America in collaboration with leaders in academia and start-ups.

This week marks the launch of the new LG Electronics AI Research Lab in Canada, an extension of the newly expanded LG Silicon Valley AI Lab in Santa Clara, California.

Supporting LG’s vision of AI as a key future growth engine, the North American labs further enhance LG’s global research capabilities, which include AI labs in South Korea, India and Russia.

In addition, LG is entering into a new research partnership with the University of Toronto, which is recognized worldwide for its AI and machine learning expertise, particularly in the area of deep learning.

“Early implementations of AI in connected devices today are setting the stage for tomorrow’s smart cities, smart homes, smart businesses and smart devices, all with capabilities that no one has even dreamed of yet.” He said the North American labs and LG’s research partnership with the University of Toronto will play a key role in developing source technologies defining that future.

Under its five-year, multi-million-dollar research partnership with the University of Toronto, LG will build on its Open Platform-Open Partnership-Open Connectivity strategy to expand the AI ecosystem.

The new lab will capitalize on the expertise of researchers at the University of Toronto who will now have the opportunity to work collaboratively with LG’s growing US and Canadian AI R&D teams. Complementing this work, LG intends to collaborate with and invest in North American start-ups.

University of Toronto President Meric Gertler views LG as an exciting new partner for AI research. “The University of Toronto looks forward to partnering with an innovative global company like LG as our researchers continue to advance the boundaries of artifi-cial intelligence.

Echoing President Gertler’s views, Dr Park said, “AI solutions based on deep learning will revolutionize how we interact with the world around us, in new seamless ways that use contextual data from things like biometrics, emotions, gestures and of course voice.”

He went on to explain the three main pillars of LG’s AI strategy:

RHB Islamic Partners Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak To Drive Waqf Funds Initiative

RHB Islamic Bank Berhad (RHB Islamic) has partnered Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) to drive the Waqf (Islamic endowment) funds as part of MyWakaf initiative.

THE initiative is in support of Bank Negara Malaysia’s strategic programme which brings together the Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM) members on a collective basis with State Islamic Religious Councils (SIRC) to establish, collect, manage and invest in Waqf-based funds.

MyWakaf fund initiative, comprises six Islamic banking institutions collaborating to make banking services easier for contributors to channel cash endowments for the development of Waqf projects.

The main aim of this Waqf Strategic Collaboration is to promote financial inclusion by maximising the value of Waqf and to provide channels to collect and manage Waqf funds efficiently in the country.

Waqf is a voluntary, permanent, irrevocable dedication of a portion of one’s wealth, be it in cash or kind, that will be assigned to deserving causes within the community. Open to Muslims and non-Muslims, Waqf is an Islamic charitable endowment, a recurring charity where the benefits of the charitable act flows to the needy repeatedly.

Under this Partnership, RHB Islamic Bank will be the lead bank for Sarawak and will take on the roles of a collection agent and a joint manager, whereby TBS will open and maintain a collection account with RHB Islamic and manage the Waqf fund together via a Joint Management Committee (JMC).

RHB Islamic Bank will provide TBS with the necessary banking channels and services to enable effective and efficient fund collection activities.

“RHB Islamic Bank Berhad is pleased to be part of this Waqf initiative to support community development and national interests. It has always been the bank’s prerogative to nurture future generations and to contribute towards nation-building.

Through this initiative, we hope to strengthen our relationship with TBS and SIRCs across the country, so that we can increase our participation in Waqf projects and demonstrate greater support towards building a community with strong values,” said Dato’ Adissadikin Ali, Managing Director, RHB Islamic Bank.

Adissadikin who is also the President of AIBIM, added “RHB Islamic’s role in this initiative is to promote and encourage contributions towards Waqf funds among the public and private sectors, via collection points.

These funds will then be channeled to support viable projects in education, health, economic empowerment and investment, approved by a Joint Management Committee comprising representatives from participating banks and SIRCs.”

The Waqf funds will be collected via online channels only such as JomPAY and Internet biller. JomPAY is Malaysia’s national bill payment scheme, under the auspices of Bank Negara Malaysia with the participation of banks and large billers.
