Leading global IT service provider, ZTE Malaysia, shares its key achievements and cutting edge fifth generation (5G) mobile technology innovations and solutions with more than 200 guests from the local telecommunications industry at its Leading 5G Tour event.

An exclusive annual event hosted by ZTE Malaysia since 2014, the company aims to bring the latest highlights and trends from Mobile World Congress (MWC Barcelona) to telco leaders, partners, regulators and members of government in Malaysia.

The Leading 5G Tour event is graced by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Chief Officer Corporate, Dato’ Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus. In attendance is also Steven Ge, ZTE Malaysia’s Managing Director.

Key highlights include the sharing of ZTE’s cutting edge 5G innovations to address the top challenges of network transformation to 5G commercialization and the introduction of ZTE’s state-of-the-art 5G solutions in 5G network deployment for ecosystems such as Urban, Extreme Data Venues, Data-Intensive Indoor. A number of 5G business cases are also presented.

Mohd Ali said the adoption of 5G will represent a quantum leap in mobile capabilities and that as an enabler of the Internet of Things, will allow Malaysians to experience and access data, augmented and virtual reality opportunities and even one day see autonomous cars on our roads.

“I would like to thank ZTE Malaysia for inviting me today and for bringing MWC to Malaysia so we all remain ahead of trends. As announced by our Minister of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia Gobind Singh Deo in November 2018, MCMC has established a national 5G Task Force supported by four working groups, which comprises of various industry players and stakeholders to study a holistic strategy for 5G deployment in Malaysia. A quarterly report will be produced to the government and the final report is scheduled to be completed in the coming October or November,” said Mohd Ali.

During his welcome speech, Steven Ge, ZTE Malaysia’s Managing Director also shares several key achievements acquired by ZTE Malaysia. “With the support from our strategic partners, ZTE Malaysia has achieved RM 608 million (RMB 1 billion) in sales. In addition, we have completed Malaysia’s first pre-5G Massive Mimo live trial in Sekinchan, Selangor together with Digi in September 2018, achieving more than 2.5x cell throughput when compared with LTE technology,” he said.

Other highlights include the successful commercialization of ZTE Malaysia’s virtualisation core with Digi, U Mobile, TM Webe and in early 2019, the signing of an MoU to accelerate 5G technology in Malaysia with U Mobile.

Steven Ge adds that ZTE is cooperating with more than 30 global operators for 5G testing and commercialization and that compliance is a key focus area, with more than USD 500 million invested annually to ensure compliances are abided and upheld.

As one of the pioneers of 5G technology, ZTE Malaysia is working closely with local telco leaders to introduce 5G into the country and will also be showcasing some of its technologies and innovations at the upcoming 5G Showcase at Putrajaya, organized by MCMC and graced by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

Perodua Suppliers Association Replaces Perodua Vendors Club In Rebranding Exercise

The country’s largest automotive component supplier body, Perodua Vendors Club (KVP) today undertook a rebranding exercise by renaming itself to the Perodua Suppliers Association (P2SA).

THE new logo, which was introduced to Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 in Serdang yesterday, reflects the body’s commitment towards greater professionalism and its target of becoming world-class suppliers.

“The automotive landscape is rapidly changing and it is clear to us that the only way
forward is to band together to meet these challenges as one,” P2SA President
Musa Zahidin Tan Sri Ahmad Zaidee said.

Musa added that apart from the challenging market conditions with fiercer competition from global suppliers, the landscape of the Malaysian auto industry has changed drastically in the last five years.

“So far, Perodua has been the main contributor for local auto component manufacturers and we are taking the cue from them (Perodua) to look beyond Malaysia if we want to reap the opportunities available,” Musa said.

“In addition, we wish to acknowledge Perodua’s top management, Perodua President and CEO Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd, President Masanori Takahashi, and Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd President Datuk Ahmad Suhaimi Hashim for their dedication and commitment towards developing Malaysian vendors,” Musa said.

Perodua purchased RM5 billion worth of automotive components from local suppliers
in 2018 alone. The company has also indicated that it would purchase more than RM6 billion worth of components by 2020 via its extensive localisation activities.

Musa said that in addition to the commitment made by Perodua, P2SA has benefited
tremendously from Perodua’s guidance particularly in helping to drive operational transformation among the association’s members.

These activities include the Vendor Resident Engineers Programme initiative where Perodua stationed its engineers to work at suppliers to understand the difficulties and challenges faced by suppliers, while at the same time minimise supplier business risk for FOREX and unmet volume, customised supplier support through short term credit terms, advance suppliers’ material purchase, and expansion of local purchase for economies of scale.

Musa said that as part of its rebranding efforts, the P2SA will further strengthen its best practices development for its members, not only in equipment and processes management, but also in human development programmes.

“We have organised events such as Karakuri competitions (mechanical-based methods of improving productivity in processes), dojo introduction and other industry-based activities in the interest of levelling up our members’ capabilities for Perodua and for Malaysia in facing global challenges,” Musa said.

“P2SA reflects our seriousness in facing the future within the automotive industry,”
he added.

Currently P2SA has a total of 125 member companies with a manpower strength of
just over 100,000 people.

All-New Nissan Sylphy Unveiled At Auto Shanghai 2019

New-generation model offers increased connectivity, comfort and confidence

THE all-new Nissan Sylphy was unveiled today at the 2019 Shanghai Motor Show, sporting a new look and featuring the latest Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies to give drivers increased connectivity, comfort and confidence.

With a new and more fuel-efficient powertrain, a wider stance, a lower center of gravity, improved aerodynamics and a roomy, luxurious interior, the new Sylphy delivers even better performance and an enhanced driving experience.

Seamless connectivity features and a full suite of active safety technologies provide support for drivers.

“The all-new Nissan Sylphy represents the full landing of Nissan Intelligent Mobility in China,” said Daniele Schillaci, executive vice president of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

“With an even more stylish design and advanced connectivity and safety technologies, the all-new Nissan Sylphy gives customers a whole new level of confidence and excitement, befitting of a leading family sedan.”

At first glance, the all-new Sylphy is characterized by its stance, which reflects the design concepts of “vigor” and “confidence.” The lower profile and streamlined exterior contribute to decreased wind resistance, with a drag coefficient of just 0.26 – equal to that of the Nissan GT-R.

Signature Nissan features include the black grille with a three-dimensional V-motion design, bringing about a strong visual impact.

The sides are defined by lean, striking proportions that create a sense of motion even when the car is stationary.

These dynamic exterior design cues hint at a number of key performance upgrades. The car is powered by the all-new Nissan HR16DE Gen3 intelligent drive engine with Xtronic transmission.

The new powertrain technologies boost engine stability and fuel efficiency and provide a linear, smooth driving experience. Steering, suspension and body rigidity
have also been enhanced to improve handling and deliver a more solid driving feel.

The wide stance and long wheelbase allow for a spacious cabin where up to five people can ride comfortably in soft, 3D Multilayer ergonomic seats.

The interior comes in sporty black, light gray or tan. The tan version features a diamond-cut quilting pattern on the seats that adds a modern, luxurious feel.

Interior features that have been designed for increased comfort and convenience also include the three-outlet air conditioning system. Controlled by a single integrated switch, it supplies air separately to the left and right front seats and to the back seats.

An 8-inch center color display and the 7-inch, high-definition thin-film transistor monitor, which shows drive information and readings from the car’s sensors, are arranged inside the meter assembly for a smart, highly functional design.

Among the many Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies in the all-new Sylphy are seamless smartphone connectivity and intelligent voice command. The Integrated Dynamic Control Module uses targeted brake applications after the vehicle encounters a bump or undulation to immediately improve the level of the body, enhancing ride quality.

Additional technologies to assist the driver include Intelligent Trace Control, Intelligent Ride Control and Emergency Brake for Pedal Misapplication.

Safety technologies such as Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Cross Traffic Alert and Intelligent Driving Alert support the driver in anticipating and avoiding hazardous situations.

Also making their China debut at the Shanghai show are the IMs and IMQ electrified concept cars.

First unveiled in January at the 2019 North American International Auto Show, the 100% electric IMs defines a new vehicle segment – the elevated sports sedan.

With an extended wheelbase and the battery located under the body, the concept car is characterized by its elevated, spacious cabin. In autonomous mode, the IMs offers completely hands-free operation.

In manual mode, it delivers the exciting, high-performance drive that only an
electric vehicle can provide.

The IMQ crossover is equipped with Nissan’s e-POWER technology, which combines an electric drivetrain with a gasoline engine that generates electricity.

Because the wheels are driven solely by the vehicle’s electric motors, the IMQ delivers the same powerful and agile performance as a 100% electric car.

The Nissan IMQ concept crossover, featuring e-POWER technology. The models will be on display at the Nissan booth in Hall 7.2 throughout the 2019 Shanghai
Motor Show. The show runs from April 16-25 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai).

Ulasan Samsung Galaxy S10+, Telefon Pintar Generasi Ke-10 Terbaik Pernah Dihasilkan

SPESIFIKASI

Samsung S10+

SAMSUNG Malaysia Electronics (SME) reveals the new Galaxy A80 – a smartphone created for the way people are engaging in the Era of Live.

People are increasingly using their smartphones to share live interactions – capturing spontaneous photos, streaming live videos and connecting over shared experiences that are happening right now.

We are moving from the ‘era of the selfie’ to the ‘era of live’, where people are fostering more genuine and meaningful connections. Built to drive this evolution, the Galaxy A80 offers compelling innovations: a captivating, full-screen display, Samsung’s first revolutionary rotating camera and an intelligent battery.

“Consumers are at the center of everything we do and they search for devices personalized to their specific lifestyle. Armed with our expertise, global capabilities and rich consumer insights, Samsung is uniquely positioned to provide innovations for everyone,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

“The Galaxy A Series provides a range of models so everyone can choose a device that fits their unique needs and enables them to pursue their passions.

Created with Samsung’s first rotating camera, the Galaxy A80 lets people seamlessly capture the world around them. When users select the selfie mode in the camera app, the three cameras automatically pop-up from the back of the phone and rotate.

The innovative camera mechanism delivers the same extraordinary triple camera experience with the same high-resolution lens, front and rear, so you never have to scarify on quality.

With the 48MP main camera, users can now shoot vivid images day and night. The Galaxy A80’s 3D Depth camera offers Live Focus videos by scanning objects for measurement and depth.

Built with an Ultra Wide angle lens with the same viewing angle as the human eye, so your favorite views can be shared with less panning.

The Super Steady video mode helps you effortlessly capture content by reducing video shake to ensure smooth, pro-level action videos. And with other intelligent camera features such as Scene Optimizer that can recognize and enhance up to 30 scenes, and Flaw Detection that automatically identifies glitches before you click, you’ll never miss the perfect shot.

Enabled by the rotating camera, people can experience an uninhibited view with Samsung’s first New Infinity Display. Featuring the 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen, Galaxy A80 brings you content in vivid detail, letting you get fully immersed in every game, video, photo and story.

The Galaxy A80’s 3,700mAh battery and its Super-Fast Charging at 25W capabilities keep you connected for longer and give you more freedom by allowing you to charge you phone quickly – so you don’t miss a beat.

The Galaxy A80’s Intelligent Performance Enhancer provides AI-powered performance optimization software, which adjusts the battery, CPU and RAM of your device based on your unique usage, helping your phone work harder and launch apps faster when you need them.

Bixby Routines helps keep you on track by learning your app usage patterns and analyzing your habits so that it knows which features you need, when you need them. Bixby Routines automates your everyday tasks and apps based on your routine, such as driving or being at work.

Fortified by Samsung Knox, Samsung’s defense-grade security platform designed to protect from chipset to software, people can enjoy the freedom of connection safely on Galaxy A80.

This allows people to use Samsung Pass to access apps and websites by using biometric authentication. To increase ease-of-use, a fingerprint scanner was embedded on-screen so people can intuitively unlock their phone.

To complement people’s active lifestyles, Galaxy A80 includes button-activated or hands-free Bixby so that users can get connected to the information needed more conveniently. Users can also easily access other features such as Bixby Vision, Bixby Home, and Reminder while on-the-go.

The Galaxy A80 also features key Galaxy experiences including Samsung Health, Samsung Pay * and more.

The Galaxy A80 is available in three colors: Angel Gold, Ghost White and Phantom Black. The Angel Gold color includes elements of pink, while the Ghost White option combines some blue characteristics, so these colors look different depending on light direction and reflection.

Three Surprising Facts About Electric Vehicle Ownership

Nissan’s fourth electric vehicle (EV) educational video addresses three common myths related to owning an EV

ELECTRIC vehicles (EV) aren’t just for early adopters anymore. With more than one-third of Southeast Asian consumers considering EVs for their next vehicle purchase 1 , the demand from people in Asia and Oceania to learn about EV ownership is increasing.

To help, the fourth video of Nissan’s EV Education Series, addresses three facts to easily
explain the simplicity and advantages of EV ownership.

Tim Jarvis, Australian explorer and environmental scientist, and Naya Ehrlich-Adam, founder of sustainable food business Broccoli Revolution in Bangkok, Thailand team up to bust some of the common myths around owning electric vehicles.

Through their first-hand experience of the world’s best-selling EV – the Nissan
LEAF – they also share surprising facts.

Naya

“Our educational video series is aimed at creating better acceptance and adoption of electric vehicles by both individuals and societies in the region,” said Yutaka Sanada, regional senior vice president for Nissan Asia & Oceania.

“By sharing the genuine interest of real-world individuals as they learn the ease and benefits of electric vehicles, we aim to debunk current misperceptions as well as inspire audiences for the future.”

Battery-powered cars reduce spending on fuel and maintenance
With fewer moving parts in an EV, owners can save on maintenance costs as well as fuel. Most drivers in Southeast Asia travel less than 80 kilometers a day, using approximately 5.6 liters of petrol.

Tim

By driving the Nissan LEAF with a 40kWh battery, vehicle owners can save up to USD
$6.00 per day or over USD $2,190 per year. In Australia and New Zealand, for every 1000km travelled, Nissan LEAF drivers will save approximately USD $50.00 by charging the vehicle’s battery, compared to a petrol-driven car.

Maintenance and service costs are also considerably lower for EVs. In the US for example, EV owners experience an average savings of more than USD $650 per year. Moreover, it’s predicted that the cost of an EV will drop below that of conventional-fuel vehicles by 2040, with EV sales growing exponentially year on year.

EVs have the same space as standard cars, and can accelerate like one too. Many consumers believe that EVs have limited space and acceleration. However, EVs today
offer a full-powered vehicle experience especially designed for modern drivers, and without a tailpipe engine, they have much larger space allowances as compared to regular cars.

As an example, the Nissan LEAF has 435 liters of space in the trunk – the equivalent of filling a conventional bathtub to the brim with luggage, and still having room to spare. In addition, a Nissan LEAF can comfortably accommodate up to five adults.

Furthermore, the concern that EVs can’t pick up speed adequately is a myth. Boasting 148bhp, the Nissan LEAF can accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds. The car’s battery pack also sits down in the chassis for a low center of gravity that allows the car to hug the road, for greater speed and stability.

The Nissan LEAF has 435 liters of space for luggage. This has the real-life equivalent of filling a conventional bathtub with luggage.

One of the key benefits of EVs for modern-consumers is that the car sends zero emissions into the atmosphere and is environmentally friendly. Air pollution is the highest environmental consumer concern in Asia-Pacific, with 85% of people extremely or very concerned about this issue.

Thus, electric vehicles with zero-emissions and virtually silent operations, present a
viable solution for owners to help do their part for an improved urban future.

As Tim Jarvis articulates in this latest Nissan EV Ownership video, “If everyone drove electric cars, we would be in a far better place.”

TO mark the collaboration both parties signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to foster programmes of academic and scholarly exchanges for the purpose of exploring the establishment of a long-term mutually beneficial association between RHB Islamic and UMT.

UMT is one of the universities in the country which emphasises studies on the ocean, maritime and marine environment.

This is part of RHB Islamic’s efforts to generate positive and sustainable impact for the economy, community and the environment consistent with RHB Islamic’s commitment to adopt Value Based Intermediation (VBI) in its business and operations.

“We aim to contribute towards conservation of marine ecosystem and environmental sustainability, in line with RHB banking Group’s Sustainability Vision towards ‘Building A Sustainable Future’, which will support the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

Our strategic collaboration with UMT allows us to play the role of a catalyst for environmental change and sustainability which will resonate well with the younger generation. We believe that this is a noble and worthwhile effort that reinforces our commitment to the global goals while achieving local impact.

In the long term, we see this collaboration as a differentiating factor for RHB Islamic as it transforms into a value based bank,” said Dato’ Adissadikin Ali, Managing Director
and CEO, RHB Islamic Bank Berhad.
