At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, George Zhao, CEO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd., took the stage with industry leaders for a thought-provoking panel discussion.

The session, titled Putting Humans First in AI Development: Key Considerations for Creating AI for Smart Devices, also featured John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Ltd., and Alex Katouzian，Group General Manager of MCX, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Together, they underscored the significance of crafting AI devices that champion an intuitive, human-centric experience while ensuring user privacy.

“We believe AI will reconstruct operation system and rebuild our future smartphone experience. HONOR will advance our AI strategy by integrating it across MagicOS and all HONOR devices, ensuring a human-centric experience that delights our users with every interaction.” Zhao stated, emphasizing HONOR’s commitment to developing AI devices designed with human needs at the core.

HONOR’s expertise in on-device AI is demonstrated through the launch of MagicOS 8.0 at MWC, which fully integrated platform-level AI and the industry’s first intent-based user interface (IUI). MagicOS 8.0 also boasts Magic Portal, an intent-based shortcut recommendation feature that lets users seamlessly switch and access services between apps with a single drag. It supports 100 major apps globally.

HONOR also partnered with Qualcomm to demonstrate the use of open-source Llama 2 on the new HONOR Magic6 Pro, showcasing the power of on-device AI even for offline use.

Human-centric AI Strategy Across All Scenarios

According to Zhao, the current wave of AI breakthroughs is unprecedented in history and will profoundly affect smart devices. HONOR’s strategic focus is to bring AI to MagicOS, introducing the industry’s first intent-based UI (IUI), incorporating a new kernel, new UI, and an interconnected ecosystem empowered by AI to devices from smartphones to PCs, providing users with a cross-device, cross-application, and cross-ecosystem experience.

Alex also noted the ongoing shift of AI processing from the cloud to personal devices, including smartphones and PCs. “With better quantization or shrinking of the models, and working hand-in-hand with our partners such as HONOR and other industry partners such as the OS vendors, we will be able to take that [cloud AI] capability and data and move more of that onto the device. The growth potential for on-device AI is virtually limitless.”

“AI cannot exist without a foundation of security,” Zhao declared, highlighting HONOR’s PFAST principle in AI development—Privacy, Fairness and Justice, Accountability, Security and Reliability, Transparency and Controllability. “We call upon the industry to collaborate on AI governance to ensure the privacy and security of individuals,” Zhao urged. Minetech Resources Berhad (Minetech), melaporkan prestasi kewangan yang kukuh bagi suku ketiga berakhir 31 Disember 2023 (S3 TK2023) dengan mencatatkan hasil sebanyak RM35 juta, mengekalkan kedudukan operasi yang kukuh dengan keuntungan operasi di tengah-tengah keadaan pasaran yang mencabar, di mana sedikit pelarasan hasil daripada RM36.3 juta diperhatikan berbanding tahun yang sama.

Bahagian Kejuruteraan Awam menunjukkan pertumbuhan yang memberangsangkan, menyumbang pendapatan RM25.9 juta dengan keuntungan operasi RM3.0 juta, disokong oleh peningkatan jumlah kerja yang ketara di Lombong Emas Selinsing (SGM) dan usaha niaga baharu seperti jalan Taman Perindustrian Banting dan kerja-kerja saliran.

Walaupun segmen Produk Bituminous menghadapi penurunan hasil sederhana kepada RM7.69 juta, segmen itu mempamerkan keuntungan operasi yang dipertingkatkan sebanyak RM0.9 juta. Segmen Tenaga yang baru lahir menyumbang secara positif dengan pendapatan RM1.3 juta, menandakan kejayaan Minetech dalam usaha tenaga boleh diperbaharui.

LYC Healthcare Umum Keputusan Kukuh S3 TK2024 sebanyak RM36 Juta

LYC Healthcare Berhad (LYC Healthcare), penyedia utama penjagaan kesihatan komprehensif dan pakar dalam perkhidmatan penjagaan ibu dan anak, mengumumkan keputusan kewangan bagi suku ketiga berakhir 31 Disember 2023 (“S3 TK2024”), sebanyak RM35.9 juta, peningkatan ketara daripada RM23.5 juta pada suku yang sama tahun sebelumnya (“S3 TK2023”).

Pertumbuhan ini terutamanya disebabkan oleh tumpuan strategik Kumpulan terhadap perniagaan nutraseutikal dan hasil yang bermanfaat daripada pengubahsuaian pajakan.

Walaupun menghadapi cabaran seluruh industri, LYC Healthcare berjaya mengecilkan Kerugian Sebelum Cukai (“LBT”) kepada RM1.2 juta, turun daripada RM1.8 juta pada suku yang sama tahun sebelumnya, menekankan keberkesanan inisiatif operasi dan strategik Kumpulan .

Pada asas serantau, segmen Malaysia terus menyumbang dengan ketara kepada prestasi Kumpulan, menjana pendapatan RM24.0 juta bagi suku tersebut, meningkat daripada RM13.4 juta pada suku tahun sebelumnya. LBT dalam segmen ini menurun kepada RM2.0 juta daripada RM3.2 juta, mencerminkan hasil yang lebih baik daripada perniagaan nutraseutikal.

Di Singapura, operasi penjagaan kesihatan terus cemerlang, menjana pendapatan RM11.9 juta dan keuntungan sebelum cukai RM0.8 juta. Prestasi ini merupakan peningkatan dalam hasil berbanding tahun sebelumnya, walaupun terdapat sedikit penurunan dalam keuntungan sebelum cukai daripada RM1.5 juta, disumbangkan oleh pelaburan strategik dalam sektor penjagaan kesihatan rantau ini untuk rancangan pertumbuhan masa depan.

Secara kumulatif, untuk sembilan bulan berakhir 31 Disember 2023 (“9M TK2024”), LYC Healthcare mencatatkan pendapatan RM95.0 juta, meningkat daripada RM66.6 juta dalam tempoh yang sama tahun lepas. LBT Kumpulan meningkat dengan ketara kepada RM2.9 juta daripada RM6.4 juta, didorong oleh sumbangan daripada sumbangan jaminan keuntungan, keuntungan daripada pengubahsuaian pajakan, dan prestasi teguh dalam kedua-dua perniagaan penjagaan kesihatan Singapura dan sektor nutraseutikal.

Pada asas suku ke suku, hasil LYC Healthcare meningkat daripada RM32.4 juta pada suku sebelumnya kepada RM35.9 juta, dengan LBT mengecil kepada RM1.2 juta daripada RM2.0 juta, membuktikan lagi momentum prestasi Kumpulan yang kukuh.

Sui Dong Hoe, Pengarah Urusan merangkap Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Kumpulan LYC Healthcare Sui Fong Hoe berkata arah aliran positif yang pada S3 TK2024 adalah petunjuk jelas bahawa LYC Healthcare berada di trajektori yang betul ke arah keuntungan dan pertumbuhan yang mampan.

“Pelaburan strategik kami, terutamanya dalam T&T Medical Group Pte Ltd (“T&T”) dan HC Orthopedic Surgery Pte Ltd (“HCOS”), dan peningkatan operasi mula membuahkan hasil.

Ora Good Cat kini boleh didapati menerusi tempahan GoCar Share Round Trip (pergi-balik) pada harga cuma RM23.90 sejam dan bermula RM157 sahaja sehari.

GoCar Malaysia, peneraju platform mobiliti sebagai perkhidmatan berdasarkan kepada permintaan dan Yinson GreenTech telah bekerjasama untuk menawarkan kenderaan elektrik Ora Good Cat melalui program GoCar Share. Usaha sama itu hadir menerusi satu kerjasama di antara GoCar dan bahagian perniagaan pajakan YGT EV, drivEV.

Kolaborasi baharu ini merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha berterusan kedua-dua buah syarikat untuk meluaskan akses terhadap pengalaman memandu EV, selain mempromosikan peralihan kepada EV di dalam negara.

Penguna GoCar boleh merasai pengalaman memandu Ora Good Cat pada harga mampu milik iaitu RM23.90 sejam dengan akses percuma ke atas semua pengecas AC dalam rangkaian YGT. Bukan itu sahaja, lebih lama tempoh tempahan pengguna, lebih banyak penjimatan boleh mereka nikmati.
