Volvo Car Malaysia Sets New Record for BEV Sales

Volvo Car Malaysia concluded the 2024 calendar year with a new sales mix record for its fully electric (BEV) segment which made up 30 percent of total retail sales, representing an increase of 18 percent compared to 2023.

Volvo Car Malaysia’s BEV and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models made up 83 percent of total
retail sales for the year, compared to 71 percent in the preceding year. This is a milestone for the company’s wider global sustainability ambition to sell between 90 to 100 percent of ‘electrified’ cars by 2030, defined by models with a plug-in, high-voltage battery drivetrain.

Volvo Car Malaysia is a pioneer for electrification – both in Malaysia and within Volvo Cars’ global markets – by being one of the first to only offer either fully electric or hybrid electric variants of all new cars sold since 2020.

Currently, customers in Malaysia can choose between PHEV or mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) powertrains for models with an internal combustion engine. In 2024, Volvo Car Malaysia sold 1,953 cars of which MHEV models made up less than a fifth of the full-year sales mix. The previous year, MHEVs represented a third of the company’s annual sales.

Chris Tan, Sales Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, said, “While last year was a much more
competitive environment for the industry, we are pleased to continue driving our vision of personal, safe and sustainable mobility with the introduction of the new, fully electric Volvo EX30 that was well received locally – our first batch of fully imported units sold out before local assembly commenced.

We now have a focused portfolio of fully electric vehicles for Malaysia with our flagship seven-seater Volvo EX90 coming next.” The upcoming Volvo EX90 is the company’s largest all-electric SUV and incorporates Volvo Cars’ most advanced safety technology to date such as lidar, core computing, and occupant monitoring for drivers and passengers.

In 2024, Volvo Car Malaysia also expanded its scope and scale of exclusive customer
experiences and brand events, including a hands-on driving experience of the new Volvo
EX30 at launch, the first-ever Volvo Safety Driving Experience, and the inaugural Volvo
Padel Open.

Globally, Volvo Cars set a new sales record with 763,389 cars sold in 2024, an increase of 8 percent compared to 2023. The company also saw a significant increase in sales for its electrified cars, selling 175,194 BEV models and 177,593 PHEV models, an increase of 54 percent and 16 percent respectively compared to the previous year.

Combined, electrified cars accounted for 46 percent of all Volvo cars sold globally during
2024, while sales of fully electric cars alone accounted for 23 percent of the total, compared to 16 percent in 2023.

Full electrification remains a key pillar of Volvo Cars’ product strategy with five fully electric cars launched globally and another five models planned for future production. This year, the company will roll out a new user interface for all Volvo cars built as early as 2020 with an Android operating system, bringing user experience closer to its new generation of fully electric cars.

Richiamo Coffee Lancar Dua Produk Baharu Sempena PIFF

Richiamo Coffee Sdn Bhd mengumumkan kerjasama dengan pengeluar pewangi kenderaan, De Xandra dan pereka fesyen dan pengeluar pakaian terkenal Rico Rinaldi sempena Festival Franchise Antarabangsa Pernas (PIFF) yang berlangsung dari 7 hingga 9 Februari 2025.

Perodua Sasar Penambahbaikan Kilang, Tingkatkan R&D

Perodua telah memperuntukkan sejumlah RM1.6 bilion untuk perbelanjaan modal (CAPEX) tahun ini, dengan sebahagian besar pelaburannya dikhaskan untuk penambahbaikan kilang, peningkatan kapasiti tera (stamping) serta pembangunan model baharu dan perkakasan.

“Jumlah RM1.6 bilion itu adalah lebih sekali ganda CAPEX syarikat pada tahun 2024 iaitu
RM797.5 juta kerana kami mahu menumpukan kepada pelaburan semula keupayaan kami.

“Pelaburan ini akan menyatukan kapasiti pengeluaran, termasuklah di peringkat pembekal, meningkatkan kualiti perkhidmatan dan produktiviti di samping mengukuhkan perancangan penyelidikan dan pembangunan (R&D) produk kami serta keupayaan pembangunan model baharu,” kata Presiden dan Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Perodua, Dato’ Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

Beliau berkata, Perodua telah melepasi kapasiti pengeluarannya dengan 368,100 kenderaan dikeluarkan pada 2024, melebihi kapasiti sebanyak 320,000 untuk kedua-dua kilangnya.

“Rekod 368,100 unit itu dicapai dengan meminimumkan masa henti (downtime), mengikuti jadual penyelenggaraan, koordinasi dan perancangan dinamik dengan pembekal dan pengedar kami serta tangkas dalam menangani cabaran,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, tahun 2025 akan menjadi batu loncatan kepada masa depan Perodua
dengan penekanan terhadap kemandirian syarikat itu dari segi keupayaan pengeluaran,
terutamanya dalam membangunkan produk di masa akan datang.

Zainal berkata, Perodua kini sedang mempercepatkan keupayaan kakitangannya
untuk mencapai kemandirian yang lebih tinggi, bagaimanapun, langkah itu akan
menghasilkan jumlah pengeluaran dan jualan yang lebih rendah tahun ini.

“Bagi tahun 2025, kami menjangka jumlah pengeluaran kami merosot sebanyak 4.9%
kepada 350,000 unit daripada 368,100 unit yang dicatatkan pada tahun 2024. Pengurangan ini juga akan menyaksikan jumlah pendaftaran berkurang sebanyak 3.7% kepada 345,000 unit daripada 358,102 unit tahun lalu.

“Walau bagaimanapun, permintaan terhadap kenderaan kami kekal sihat dengan tempahan tertunggak semasa kini mencecah 68,000 unit, yang mana 28,000 tempahan mempunyai surat aku janji yang dikeluarkan tanpa stok,” katanya.

Beliau berkata, Perodua akan terus mengutamakan penghantaran kenderaannya dan dalam masa yang sama mengekalkan standard keselamatan dan kualiti terjaga.

Mengulas mengenai perniagaan selepas jualan Perodua, Zainal berkata, syarikat kereta kompak itu menyasar untuk meningkatkan jumlah penyelenggaraan kenderaan tahun
ini kepada 3.7 juta, naik 7.6% daripada 3.4 juta yang dicatatkan tahun lalu.

Katanya, Perodua juga akan terus menyokong ekosistem automotif negara dengan pembelian komponen tempatan yang diangggarkan berjumlah RM10.8 bilion daripada pembekal di negara ini.

“Selain itu, kami juga bekerjasama dengan kerajaan untuk meningkatkan keupayaan
pembekal dan pengedar kami agar mereka boleh kekal bersaing secara kompetitif dalam
industri.

“Ini termasuklah dengan terus meneroka potensi Industri 4.0 dalam memaksimumkan
keupayaan dalam operasi mereka, mengendalikan latihan dan menyediakan bantuan lain
bagi pertumbuhan yang lestari,” katanya.

“Tahun 2025 ini akan menjadi tahun yang mengujakan buat Perodua kerana kami sedang mempersiapkan syarikat dan rakan strategiknya untuk sebarang perubahan yang bakal berlaku.

“Kami percaya apabila perubahan ini sudah lengkap, kami mampu mengukuhkan
kedudukan kami di negara ini serta rantau ini,” katanya.
