Youths in the country must exercise their rights to vote so that they would be able to make changes and determine the future direction of the nation.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof (special functions) said youths of today who are not happy with the going-ons in the nation can make a difference by registering with the Election Commission and start to keep abreast with the latest political scenario.

“We cannot take things for granted anymore and that include the bumiputera youths If youths want to see a better Malaysia, then they should start beefing up their knowledge on our political landscape.

“We (the government) can help youths especially the Malays to exact changes and chart Malaysia’s future, this include having political will,” said Redzuan in live dialoges session via Facebook with Tunas Geliga SPM 2020 top scorers organised by Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera.

Also present was Yayasan Peneraju chief executive officer Mohd Muzzammil Ismail.

Redzuan or more affectionately known as Pak Wan said the government can’t help the youths economically as the Bumiputera are still far behind.

“Politics is the way to go and to do that, youths must take the first step by registering as a voter.

“Bumiputera youths must start registering as they are not doing so compared to other races which are registering at the Election Commission in droves.

He also encourages Bumiputera youths to be involved in politics and be elected, so that the country’s political scenario can be sustained and the policies rollout can be improved.

“So become leader of good integrity with high integrity. So what do you want to be? A leader or a follower?

Pak Wan added Malaysian youths must start interacting in politics to find a leader among them.

“We need to shape and build our country ourselves because if not, we will always ask for handouts from others.

Pak Wan said thus it is important for youths to register once they turn 18 years old.

He said youths must have the realisation that they need to strengthen their political presence in Malaysia.

“It is not for politicking but rather to understand the politics and political aspects of it all.”
