In addition to that, MITEC also achieved the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points
(HACCP) certification.

The Venue is certified ISO 22000:2018 and HACCP following a stringent audit by SGS, the
world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification body. SGS operates a network of more than 2,600 offices and laboratories around the world and is recognised as the global benchmark for quality and integrity.

“It is a significant milestone for us as we are just over 2 years in operation and the certification strengthens our position in the business events industry and boosts our competitive edge to continue to offer world-class standard and quality services to our clients,” said Gunther Beissel, Chief Executive Officer, Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre.

ISO 22000:2018 is the latest global safety management system that enables organisations to control food safety hazards along the food chain in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of consumption. This standard replaces the old ISO 22000:2005.

HACCP certification is common amongst international venues as a systematic preventive
approach to food safety is practised at all stages of the food selection, preparation and
production process.

Attributing the Venue’s achievement to a team effort, Beissel said, “This demonstrates our
commitment to overall catering excellence and assures our clients that the safety and quality of our food and beverage service are not compromised”.

ISO 22000:2018 and HACCP certifications are based around the four core established
principles of receiving of food, storage, preparation and serving of food and drinks for functions banquets and at the food outlet (kiosk).

Gunther concluded that besides ISO 22000:2018 and HACCP, MITEC has also obtained Halal Certification for all its kitchens from The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim).
