Toyota was again an award-winner with three models winning four awards
AFTER collecting the Gold award in the Automotive category of the Putra Brand Awards for a sixth consecutive year, Toyota was again an award-winner in the 2017 Malaysia Car of the Year Awards with three models winning four awards.
While the Toyota Camry Hybrid 2.5 and Toyota Innova 2.0X won awards in their respective categories (Sedan & Hatchback and MPV), two variants of the Toyota Hilux swept all the awards in the Pick-Up Truck category. The two variants were the Hilux 2.4G Double Cab (below RM120,000 category) and Hilux 2.8G Double Cab (RM120,001 and above category).
Commenting on the recognition given at the 16th edition of the Malaysia Car of the Year Awards, Ravindran K, President of UMW Toyota Motor, said: “We are extremely delighted that our models have been selected for four awards this year. Having worked hard to provide products which we believe are what our customers want in terms of value for money, specifications and performance, it is satisfying to see that our efforts have been recognised by the panel of judges.”
On the recognition for the Hilux, Akio Takeyama, Deputy Chairman of UMW Toyota Motor, said:“We are particularly proud of the achievement by the Toyota Hilux. This model has a been constantly evolving over its history of almost 50 years, meeting changing customer requirements and expectations. Today’s model, which is the eighth generation, is the best ever Hilux in terms of engineering, performance and of course, quality and durability.”
Members of the public will have an opportunity to experience the capabilities of the Hilux at the coming 2017 Malaysia Autoshow from November 9 – 12 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) outside Kuala Lumpur.
UMW Toyota Motor will be displaying eight Toyota models including the upcoming C-HR, New Innova 2.0X, Vios Special Edition and a Vios Challenge race car that being used for the Toyota Gazoo Racing Festival.
A special off-road course has been prepared near the exhibition halls where the superior capabilities of the Hilux and Fortuner will be demonstrated. Driver assistance systems such as Active Traction Control (A-TRC), Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Downhill Assist Control (DAC) will be shown in action. At the same time, the improved ride in today’s Toyota pick-ups and SUVs will also be evident on a high-speed run over rough terrain.
