Volvo Car Malaysia is thrilled to announce the Volvo Padel Open, Malaysia’s inaugural and largest official padel tournament.

Set to give almost 500 padel players the chance to compete across two weekends, Volvo Car Malaysia is partnering with all Klang Valley padel clubs – ASCARO Padel & Social Club, Padelground, and PadelKu – to grow padel’s social community in Malaysia.

Participants of the Volvo Padel Open will vie for glory and prizes worth up to RM100,000 in
four categories – Intermediate, Open, Women’s and Wildcard – which will take place from 8
to 15 June 2024.

Participants will need to sign up together as a doubles team, and all players be assessed upon registration to determine their skill level and eligible category.

To join the Volvo Padel Open, participants only require a one-off fee of RM200 per team of
two players, or a special rate of only RM100 if at least one player is a Volvo owner. Apart
from the chance to compete for the grand prizes, players can also enjoy complimentary
coaching clinics before the tournament, a stylish Volvo sports kit, court-side access to the
grand finals and exclusive Volvo hospitality.

With roots in the 1960s, padel is widely hailed as the fastest-growing sport globally with 25 million players across 110 countries, attracting many new players since arriving on Malaysian shores with its fast, modern gameplay and focus on camaraderie as a doubles
game.

Volvo Car Malaysia was an early champion of the sport last year when it held its first Koppla
sporting event – a padel friendly for Volvo owners – at ASCARO Padel & Social Club, the
first padel club in Malaysia.

Patricia Yaw, Head of Marketing & Public Relations at Volvo Car Malaysia shared: “We at Volvo Car Malaysia see a lot of synergy with the sport due to its focus on people, a lifestyle-driven experience and constant technological innovation.

“We’re proud to be synonymous with this growing, vibrant sport that has strong historic roots and an exciting, modern future, just like our new electric cars and fully electric ambitions.”

Daniel Liljekvist, Managing Director of Malaysia’s pioneering padel operator, ASCARO Padel
and Social Club, shared: “Volvo Car Malaysia is our first court and automotive partner and
today we are elevating our partnership to co-host the Volvo Padel Open.

Partnerships like this not only help elevate the experience for our players and customers, but also allow us to stay true to our mission of championing the vibrant community and style surrounding this growing sport.”
