Pet owners encouraged to bring their cats for check-ups at least twice a year, starting at kitten stage
The ‘Take Your Cat To The Vet’ campaign championed by Royal Canin Malaysia returns this year with stronger support and more activities to create awareness and emphasise the importance of regular check-ups for cats.

The Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM), and International Cat Care have thrown their weight behind this fourth edition of the campaign in Malaysia, supporting Royal Canin’s strong encouragement to cat owners to bring their pets to visit a registered vet at least twice a year.
Routine vet visits starting when the cats are kittens can contribute to early diagnosis of health issues, reducing the impact of disease, and more efficacious treatment.
Dr. Melissa Phoon, Corporate Affairs Manager at Royal Canin Malaysia who is also a vet by training, said: “Many cat owners still overlook or are not aware that it is crucial for them to bring their beloved felines to vets on a regular basis, and not only when their pets are sick or require vaccination.
Cats are secretive by nature and do not exhibit illnesses or pain until it is too late. Hence, we are bringing back the campaign, which was first launched in 2016 locally. This year’s campaign encourages scheduled health check-ups starting at kitten stage as a proactive and preventive measure.

Royal Canin is very pleased that the authority and likeminded partners have come onboard to help create greater awareness for this important petcare practice.”
“We understand cat parents might be concerned about bringing their pets to the vet or the possibility of their pets being infected under the current uncertain situation. It is thus even more important that pet parents schedule the visit to the vet beforehand.
We would like to encourage cat owners to check with their vet if they are unsure of any information they have received. In view of the Conditional Movement Control Order
(CMCO) implemented in certain areas, we advise cat parents to adhere to the SOPs when bringing their cats to the vet,” Dr. Phoon continued.

Pet owners can listen to Royal Canin Malaysia’s Jom Talk Pets! podcast or call the brand careline (+603-7492 0188) for information and the safe steps to protect the wellbeing of their cats.
‘Take Your Cat To The Vet’ 2020 campaign runs from 4 October until 31 December 2020. Royal Canin has lined up many interesting activities to reward pet owners and motivate a visit to the vet during this period of time.
Among these activities are Poetry and Storytelling Competition, Interactive Educational
Web Game and Cat2Vet Digital Live Event on Royal Canin Malaysia’s Facebook page.
