AEON terus melindungi biodiversiti dan mengekalkan keseimbangan alam semula jadi.
AEON CO. (M) BHD. (AEON) meneruskan komitmennya terhadap pemuliharaan alam sekitar melalui inisiatif penanaman pokok bersama Institut Penyelidikan Perhutanan Malaysia (FRIM).
Program bertemakan “Terang di Hujung Dahan” ini memberi tumpuan kepada usaha pemulihan jangka panjang habitat kelip-kelip di Kuala Selangor, yang menjadi salah satu tarikan alam semula jadi di Malaysia.
Melalui inisiatif ini, sebanyak 50 anak pokok Rumbia (Metroxylon sagu) dan 50 anak pokok Berembang (Sonneratia caseolaris) telah ditanam di sepanjang kawasan tebing sungai.
Kedua-dua pokok ini merupakan dua spesies penting yang menjadi habitat semula jadi bagi kelip-kelip. Usaha ini merupakan langkah bermakna ke arah pemulihan ekosistem di samping menyokong kajian saintifik untuk memastikan kelangsungan populasi kelip-kelip demi manfaat generasi akan datang.

Aktiviti penanaman pokok yang dilaksanakan pada 11 Oktober lalu disertai oleh sukarelawan dari pelbagai syarikat antaranya seperti Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS), Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Selangor (MPKS), Lembaga Minyak Sawit Malaysia (MPOB), komuniti tempatan termasuk Inspirasi KAWA, KONGRES (Kelab Generasi Warisan Seri Asahan), dan sukarelawan daripada AEON.
Turut serta Dr Ir. Ts. Hj. Mohmad Asari Daud, Pengarah LUAS; Dr. Kasuma Satria Mat Jadi, Ketua Pegawai Sumber Manusia AEON; Dato’ Dr. Ismail Parlan, Ketua Pengarah FRIM; Mohd Azmi Sunda, Ketua Seksyen Perladangan MPOB dan Muhammad Asyraf Kamarrazaman, wakil Yang Dipertua MPKS.
Menurut Dr. Kasuma Satria, “Kerjasama ini merupakan kesinambungan hubungan jangka panjang antara AEON dan FRIM dalam pemuliharaan alam sekitar. Usaha di Kuala Selangor ini mencerminkan komitmen AEON untuk terus melindungi biodiversiti dan mengekalkan keseimbangan alam semula jadi.”
“Kami berharap usaha yang dijalankan pada hari ini akan terus membawa sinar kepada Kuala Selangor bukan sahaja melalui cahaya kelip-kelip yang menerangi malam, tetapi juga melalui semangat tanggungjawab bersama dalam memelihara alam untuk kesejahteraan komuniti dan generasi masa hadapan.” katanya.
Kerjasama antara AEON dan FRIM dalam usaha pemuliharaan habitat kelip-kelip di Kuala Selangor mula dilaksanakan pada tahun 2011 lagi di Tg Beluntas, Kuala Selangor.
Aktiviti dilaksanakan dalam dua fasa termasuk pembersihan kawasan, penyelidikan, penanaman pokok dan penyelenggaraan. Pada tahun 2018, sukarelawan AEON bersama Unit Perancang Ekonomi Negeri Selangor telah melaksanakan projek tanggungjawab sosial korporat (CSR) melalui aktiviti penanaman pokok untuk habitat kelip-kelip di kawasan tersebut. Sehingga kini, AEON telah menanam lebih daripada 1,000 pokok di Kuala Selangor, yang mencatatkan pertumbuhan populasi kelip-kelip.
Dato’ Dr. Ismail Parlan dalam ucapannya berkata, FRIM akan terus komited untuk melaksana dan berkongsi hasil penyelidikan daripada program ini agar ia memberi impak jangka panjang.
“FRIM juga amat menghargai penglibatan sektor swasta, khususnya AEON sebagai rakan korporat yang menunjukkan contoh teladan tanggungjawab sosial korporat berimpak tinggi,” katanya.
Selain usaha pemuliharaan habitat kelip-kelip, AEON juga aktif melaksanakan inisiatif penghijauan alam sekitar melalui projek Malaysia-Japan Friendship Forest yang bermula di Paya Indah Wetlands pada tahun 2004 bersempena sambutan ulang tahun ke-20 AEON, dengan kerjasama Jabatan PERHILITAN.
Projek ini kemudiannya diteruskan bersama FRIM melalui penanaman sebanyak 30,000 pokok di Bidor dan seterusnya diperluaskan lagi melalui projek penanaman semula hutan di Segamat yang dijadualkan bermula pada penghujung tahun ini, melibatkan penanaman 30,000 pokok di kawasan seluas 36 hektar dalam tiga fasa.
Sejak memulakan inisiatif penanaman pokok pada tahun 1991, AEON telah menanam lebih daripada 557,000 pokok di seluruh negara melalui pelbagai inisiatif penghijauan.
