Wawasan Open University (WOU) telah menandatangani tiga Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) dengan TT Vision Technologies Sdn Bhd, Oppstar Technology Sdn Bhd dan Clarion (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd untuk meningkatkan pembangunan tenaga kerja dalam sektor semikonduktor dan pembuatan di Malaysia.
MoU yang ditandatangani di kampus induk WOU di Pulau Pinang, menetapkan WOU sebagai rakan utama dalam pembangunan kemahiran bagi ketiga-tiga organisasi, bertujuan untuk melatih 200 profesional teknikal dan kejuruteraan dengan kemahiran kritikal yang diperlukan untuk berjaya dalam era Industri 4.0.
Dalam ucapannya, Prof. Dr. Lily Chan, Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif (CEO) dan Naib Canselor WOU, menekankan pentingnya kerjasama antara industri dan akademia untuk memenuhi permintaan yang semakin meningkat terhadap profesional berkemahiran tinggi.

“Kerjasama ini menunjukkan bagaimana universiti dan industri boleh berganding bahu untuk menghadapi keperluan tenaga kerja yang terus berkembang. Kolaborasi ini juga selaras dengan inisiatif strategik Pulau Pinang untuk membangunkan tenaga kerja mahir dalam sektor teknologi tinggi seperti semikonduktor, automasi dan elektronik automotif, seiring dengan program pembangunan bakat di Wilayah Ekonomi Koridor Utara (NCER) dan Perbadanan Pembangunan Sumber Manusia (HRD Corp).
Kerjasama ini akan menampilkan Sijil Profesional dan micro-credentials yang disesuaikan dengan setiap industri. WOU akan menyediakan TT Vision dengan pensijilan dalam Analitik Pembuatan yang Dikuasakan oleh IoT, meliputi aspek utama seperti IoT, analitik data, dan integrasi robotik.
Pensijilan ini merangkumi micro-credentials yang boleh digunakan sebagai laluan untuk melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat ijazah dalam bidang Kejuruteraan Mekatronik atau Pembuatan Pintar.
Bersama Oppstar, WOU menawarkan Sijil Profesional dalam Reka Bentuk IC, yang memberi tumpuan kepada Reka Bentuk Litar CMOS, Litar Campuran, dan Reka Bentuk IC Digital. Peserta juga berpeluang mengumpul kredit pembelajaran yang membolehkan mereka melanjutkan pengajian dalam program Sarjana Sains Kejuruteraan Reka Bentuk Sistem di WOU.
Kolaborasi dengan Clarion Malaysia membuka peluang kepada pekerja untuk melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat pascasiswazah, seperti Sarjana Sains dalam Pembuatan Pintar dan Sarjana Pentadbiran Perniagaan dalam Pengeluaran & Pengurusan Pembuatan, yang bertujuan untuk melengkapkan mereka dengan kemahiran teknikal yang mendalam serta kepimpinan yang kompetitif.
