Becoming healthier does not always begin with a major lifestyle change. Sometimes, it starts with an extra walk, a better night’s sleep or remembering to drink enough water during a long workout.

What elevates these habits is tracking it to build meaningful insights into your progress and daily needs. That is the thinking behind Samsung Electronics Malaysia’s latest health push, following the launch of the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2.

Alongside new health and fitness tracking capabilities, Samsung has been encouraging Malaysians to put those healthy intentions into practice through their quarterly step challenges on the Samsung Health app.

The most recent challenge, which concluded in September, saw over 10,000 Malaysians participate with the goal of accomplishing 150,000 steps over the span of 3 weeks. The initiatives come as overall health and physical activity remain an important area of concern in
Malaysia.

Malaysia’s National Health and Morbidity Survey (NHMS) 2023 reported that 1 in 3 adults in Malaysia are not physically active, and 1 in 2 lead sedentary lifestyles.

Key findings in the NHMS: Nutrition study in 2024 also found that only 17.1% of adults met the recommended intake of 2 servings of fruit and only 12.2% met 3 servings of vegetables a day.

For Samsung, technology has an important role to play in helping people maintain an active lifestyle and healthier diets.

“Good health needs to be maintained through the small choices we make every day and simply being more aware of how our bodies are responding to our routines. We shouldn’t wait for something to go wrong before thinking about our health,” Charles Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics said.
