HONOR has confirmed to launch the brand’s first foldable flip smartphone this year. The CEO of HONOR Device Co Ltd, George Zhao, stated in an interview with CNBC at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 that the device is now in its final stage of internal testing.

The move to introduce a foldable flip is in line with HONOR’s strategy to enter the premium market where it’s looking to compete with major technology industry players. “This year we are preparing for the flip phone launch. Now, we are internally in the final stage. We are very positive about foldables for the future,” said Zhao.

HONOR recently launched its latest foldable phone, the HONOR Magic V2 at MWC 2024, which is the successor to the HONOR Magic Vs. HONOR also debuted the exclusive Porsche Design edition, HONOR Magic V2 RSR at the event.

Meanwhile, Zhao added that HONOR is developing its own smart ring and this device is part of the company’s commitment to health. “Internally, we have this kind of solution, and now we are working on that part, so in the future you can have the HONOR ring,” he stated.
