ACO Tech, a company jointly owned by PROTON, Altel, and ECARX, today announced the integration of Sarawak’s homegrown smart payment solution Pay & Go with its ATLAS infotainment head unit (IHU) software to provide seamless off-street parking payments for motorists.
This first-of-its-kind partnership in Malaysia was formalised via a Product Integration
Agreement (PIA) and aims to enhance user convenience and elevate driving experience.
Present at the PIA exchange ceremony were ACO Tech Chief Executive Officer, Li Pu,
and Pay & Go Chief Executive Officer, Eddie Wee.
The exchange was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON, Roslan Abdullah, and was held at the World Congress on Innovation & Technology 2023 (WCIT 2023) in Kuching, Sarawak.
Pay & Go’s smart parking solution enables users to make parking payments directly in-car with just a tap on the display; it does away with physical parking tickets or the need to reach for a mobile phone.
Through the partnership with ACO Tech, this convenient solution will be integrated into selected PROTON models equipped with Malaysia’s first dedicated automotive operating system, ATLAS OS.
Pay & Go utilises license plate recognition technology to eliminate the need for autopay
machines. Once users save their number plates in their Pay & Go account, they can use credits that can be purchased in-app to make payments directly from the IHU before approaching the exit.
QR payment via local payment gateway S Pay Global is also supported. Additionally, upcoming software updates will enable users to pay directly from their ATLAS Pay e-wallet
accounts.
Available starting from 4 October 2023, the PROTON X70 with ATLAS1 IHU will be the first
model to roll out this innovative integration. Pay & Go will soon be made available in more
connected PROTON models, starting with the X-series, via over-the-air (OTA) software
updates.
Pay & Go services are currently available in 28 locations primarily in Kuching and will be
expanded to more areas, especially in the Klang Valley.
