Staying true to tradition, Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd (Gardenia KL) is stepping forward to aid 10 charity homes impacted by the pandemic in conjunction with its third World Bread Day celebration.
The bread maker launched the ‘Gardenia World Bread Day Share & Donate’ campaign with a commitment to pledge three Gardenia Original Classic 400g bread loaves for every post and share on its Facebook page.
The move aims to empower the public to play a role in aiding those in need in challenging times.
“Celebrating World Bread Day by supporting communities in need is an on-going tradition that is close to Gardenia’s heart. With the current challenging times, the most vulnerable groups face an uphill task of putting food on the table.
“We believe the best way to commemorate this day is by sharing with those in need,” said Gardenia KL Corporate Affairs And Public Relations General Manager, Hazlinah Harun.
With the help of consumers and fans, Gardenia KL aims to donate up to 20,000 loaves of bread through the campaign which runs from 15th to 20th October 2020.
Every post and share will put bread on the table for the beneficiaries of Padmasambhava Children Loving Association Klang Selangor, Pertubuhan Nur Kasih Klang, Persatuan Sri Saradha Devi Illam Rawang, Bandar Damai Home Care, Pertubuhan Kebajikan dan Pendidikan Ar Raudhah Malaysia, Rumah Amal Baitul Barokah Wal Mahabbah, Pusat Jagaan Kasih Abadi, Rumah Kebajikan Misi Harapan, Persatuan Kebajikan Darul Hanan, and Rumah Anak Yatim dan Miskin Nur Iman.
Netizens can start sending their loaves of support in three steps; firstly visit, ‘LIKE’ and ‘FOLLOW’ the Gardenia KL Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GardeniaKL), secondly share the ‘World Bread Day Post’ (https://bit.ly/37f9XUo) and tag three friends, and finally, ensure the post is set to ‘Public’.
As of 17 October, the post has over 2,000 shares or about 30% of its target. Extending the spirit of sharing, Gardenia KL also collaborated with the Selangor Social Welfare Department to contribute 600 packs each of Gardenia Delicia Cream Rolls and Sambal Bilis Buns to the Tropicana hostel residents currently undergoing the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
Understanding the struggle of daily wage earners due to the MCO earlier this year, Gardenia KL allocated RM1 million for its Covid-19 Aid Programme.
Partnering with organisations such as Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM), the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM), the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council’s Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ) and Federal Territory Islamic Affairs Department (JAWI), Gardenia has extended support to the Food Bank Programme, B40 households and front liners like Grab Riders and taxi drivers serving the community with critical services over a duration of four phases since March.
In total, the Gardenia Covid-19 Aid Programme has contributed RM500,000 in aid from phase one through to phase four.
Gardenia began its World Bread Day movement in 2018 by rallying consumers in a campaign to support 20 charitable organisations. Last year, Gardenia continued this tradition with varsity students from financially challenged backgrounds through the Food Bank Siswa programme.
