PETRONAS, through its corporate social responsibility arm Yayasan Petronas, is reaching out to 757 residents from eight old folks’ homes with the contribution of hand sanitisers and dispensers to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, particularly amongst the elderly.

Yayasan Petronas will be distributing the items to old folks’ homes in Johor, Kedah, Melaka, Perak, Sabah, Sarawak, and Terengganu in collaboration with Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), as part of its ongoing commitment in ensuring the well-being of the people and communities around Petronas’ areas of operations.

Through this contribution, Yayasan Petronas hopes to encourage the practice of good personal hygiene amongst the senior citizens.

Commenting on the initiative, Yayasan Petronas Chief Executive Officer Lita Osman said: “Yayasan Petronas believes in the importance of ensuring good health and well-being for all, in line with Petronas’ commitment in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We hope that with our contribution of hand sanitisers and dispensers, these senior citizens are able to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 as well as other viruses, as they are amongst those who are most vulnerable to disease.”

This latest initiative is part of Yayasan Petronas’ contribution of critical medical equipment and supplies worth RM20 million to aid the country’s hospitals, healthcare front-liners and high-risk groups in mitigating the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
