The certificate was presented by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, Isnaraissah Munirah to Senior General Manager, Regulatory
& Planning Department, Strategic and Regulatory Division of TNB, Ismail Abd Rahman.

As part of continuous measures to minimise environmental impact and protect the well-being of the community and biodiversity where TNB operates, the national electricity utility has put in place Environmental Policy and Green Policy as a guide to be adhered to by its workforce.

It has also incorporated good environmental management principles by adopting sustainable
practices, efficient operations and adoption of green technologies.

Among TNB’s environment management efforts

  • Decommissioned inefficient and ageing plants and replaced them with more efficient and
    economical plants.
  • Utilise ultra-super critical (USC) technology (a gold standard in the industry) in its new coal-fired power plants. USC power plants have 40% efficiency compared with 36% efficiency of conventional pulvarised coal firing system.
  • As a strategic partner of DOE in Guided Self-Regulation for environmental management, TNB proactively ensures compliance to environmental regulations before DOE regulators conduct compliance inspection.
