Good news to all who have been looking forward to the 2018 Range Rover Velar! The first vehicle of its kind – the Velar will reach Malaysian shores early Q2 of 2018.

  • A new addition to the Range Rover family, bridging the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport
  • Technology and innovation define the Velar, as demonstrated by the new, state-of-the-art Touch Pro Duo infotainment system
  • The pure, simple yet strong form of the bodysides is testament to Range Rover’s long history of lightweight aluminium construction

NAMED after the Range Rover’s prototype that was produced 1969, the Velar is a new mid-sized SUV that offers a new level of luxury and refinement.

Targeted at those who prefer mid-sized SUVs, the Velar was introduced to bridge the gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. Velar’s design is beautifully balanced, from its powerful proportions to its continuous waistline through to the taut tapered lines of its rear. The generous wheelbase accentuates its elegant form while helping to provide a spacious interior.

The Velar is a seamless blend of contemporary design and advanced technology. It is designed with the most slender full-LED headlights ever to appear on a Land Rover vehicle. The flush deployable door handles emphasise Velar’s reductive, sculptured form, and contribute to the low drag coefficient of only 0.32, making it the most aerodynamically-efficient Land Rover ever produced.

Design enabling technology allows for the new Touch Pro Duo infotainment system to be featured as the centrepiece of Velar’s interior. The Touch Pro Duo system features two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens that form the centrepiece of the beautifully minimalist cabin, and blends a futuristic, elegant feel with an intuitive, engaging interface and unrivalled performance and functionality.

The Velar’s body is built with aluminium-intensive monocoque using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. Aluminium alloys account for more than 81 per cent of the body-in-white – a figure no competitor can match. Its light, stiff, aluminium-intensive body, together with double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension provides the perfect basis for agile handling, superior ride comfort and outstanding refinement. It also delivers exceptional levels of crash protection that the Velar has been developed to meet the most demanding crash test regulations worldwide.

Designed and engineered at Jaguar Land Rover’s development centres in the UK, the Velar will be manufactured at the company’s Solihull production facility.

Jaguar Land Rover – The World Leader in Automotive Aluminium Body Construction

Jaguar Land Rover is one of the first carmakers in the world to use aluminium extensively in its model range. The company introduced aluminium body structures initially to its Jaguar line, achieving weight reduction of about 40 per cent using stamped panels, castings and aluminium extrusions. The benefits include weight savings, improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions, increased crash safety and improved vehicle dynamics. The use of aluminium continues to grow – from the all-new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport to the exciting new Jaguar F-PACE, as well as the F-TYPE, XE, XF and XJ. The body structure of the XJ, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover is 100% aluminium, the Discovery – 80% aluminium, while the XE and XF is 75% aluminium.
