From your morning kopi to your pasar malam run, QR payments are becoming second nature.

“Boss, ada QR?” It’s a question Malaysians have become very familiar with. Morning nasi lemak? Scan. Afternoon coffee? Scan. A quick pasar malam run? Chances are, there’s a
QR code waiting at the stall too.

Malaysia’s cashless habits are growing fast. According to Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet), 8.44 billion digital payment transactions were processed in 2025, spanning retail, transportation, transfers and everyday purchases.

And QR payments have become part of that convenience. No digging for loose change or wondering if you brought enough cash. Just reach for the one thing that’s probably already in your hand: your smartphone.

From Cash in Your Pocket to QR on Your Phone
Going cashless has given us more ways to pay, but also more places to find them. A banking app here. A payment card there. Loyalty cards somewhere else.

We may have made our physical wallets lighter, only to create a new kind of digital clutter. So perhaps the next step isn’t adding another way to pay. It’s making the ways we already pay easier to access.

Swipe. Scan. Pay with Samsung Wallet
With Samsung Wallet’s QR Payment experience, eligible Galaxy users can access Maybank’s MAE Scan Pay functionality through Samsung Wallet.

Just Swipe. Scan. Pay and users can launch QR Payment from Samsung Wallet and access Maybank’s Scan & Pay via the MAE App to securely complete their transaction. The functionality also supports eligible QR transactions across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Cambodia, making it handy when travelling around the region.

And because Malaysians love getting a little extra value, eligible Samsung Wallet transactions can also earn Samsung Rewards points. Aye, untunglah!
