Canon Marketing Malaysia (Canon) is proud to present “Kasih Yang Tidak Bergema”, a Raya short film marking the directorial debut of Sofyank, one of Malaysia’s innovative content creators.

The film explores the themes of family, sacrifice, and the silent expressions of love, offering a heartfelt narrative that resonates with the true spirit of Raya.

This project reflects Canon’s commitment to nurturing local talent and empowering creators to produce visual storytelling that resonates with audiences and inspires. The collaboration with Sofyank highlights the brand’s role in advancing Malaysia’s creative industry by providing filmmakers with the tools they need to craft cinematic works that truly stand out.

Edward Chang, Head of Canon Marketing Malaysia’s Image Communication Business Division, said, “Canon has always believed in empowering local creators to push boundaries and tell compelling stories.

Supporting Sofyank’s directorial debut is an exciting extension of our ongoing efforts to nurture and elevate Malaysian talent. This project aligns perfectly with our Kyosei philosophy, which focuses on bringing people together through shared creativity.”

For the first time, Sofyank trades the spotlight for the director’s chair, taking on the challenge of directing a cast of actors and shaping a story driven by emotion rather than spectacle. This shift marks a significant evolution in his creative journey, showcasing a different side of his storytelling capabilities.

Known for his exceptional visual storytelling and VFX-driven content, Sofyank has built a strong following across digital platforms. His transition from digital creator to filmmaker marks a major milestone in his career.

Recently elevated from Canon EOS Master to EOS Filmmaker, Sofyank’s new role enables him to further explore narrative filmmaking, providing him with creative tools to express deeper, more complex emotions in his work.

“Directing ‘Kasih Yang Tidak Bergema’ has been a significant milestone for me. It allowed me to explore more profound narratives and grow as a filmmaker,” said Sofyank. “I’m grateful for Canon’s support in this journey and for giving me the tools to take this next step in my creative exploration.”

At the core of “Kasih Yang Tidak Bergema” is a deeply moving exploration of a mother’s love, not always shown through words or gestures, but expressed through sacrifice, prayers, and silence.

The film tells the story of a mother whose quiet sacrifices go unrecognied by her child until the truth is revealed. Through these everyday acts, Sofyank’s film reminds us that the most profound expressions of love are often conveyed in silence, through small, unnoticed acts that define family bonds.
